Much more than simply a shopping bag, this Charles David Desiree is likely to inspire series purse envy when you head to the mall.

Slick natural patent leather panels are offset by head-turning woven ones. This delicate weave reminds me of high-class designer Bottega Veneta, which is a very good thing. This rich wicker appearance is imitated by the dual braided straps.

The gored shapes are ruched at the bottom to give the Desiree a deliciously full appearance. The grey version is a little bland, but I can forgive that misstep because the pine green and cognac brown shades are divine.

Girls on the go demand more than good looks from a shopper, and the Desiree holds it own. With just a zip pocket in the side wall the organizational features are minimal. But I can’t complain about the spacious size of the interior, or its sumptuous suede lining.

Retailing for $325, the stylish Charles David Desiree Shopper represents good value when compared to other designer purses of this size and quality.

Burberry has released the lush images of its Spring 2009 campaign. And what better place to photograph a spring collection than outside amongst greenery? Petersham Nurseries just outside London was the chosen location for these organic advertisements.

The label paid tribute to its roots, with creative director Christopher Bailey recruiting Mario Testino to shoot an all-British cast. Professional models Lily Donaldson, Eden Clarke, Alexina Graham, and Richard Wyndham star alongside actor Alex Pettyfer, musicians George Craig and Sam Beeton, and photographer Emily Hope.

They’re all wearing natural makeup to ensure they don’t show up Burberry’s statement jewelry, patterned dresses, trench coats, and of course, stunning handbags.

“I wanted the mood to be gentle, relaxed, romantic, and about a quiet, beautiful sense of luxury,” Christopher Bailey told WWD.

There are so many gorgeous images in this collection, but I can’t resist this photo of Lily Donaldson carrying the fabulous plaid Gardener Bag. Its large size and versatile monochromatic color scheme should make this stylish tote a massive hit.

We can expect to see this photo, and the others in the collection, in the February editions of our favorite fashion mags.

Phillip Lim’s recently released 3.1 line of handbags is already turning heads, and while it has not yet hit celebrity bag status, I have no doubt that the Medwin oversized clutch will make its way to the red carpet sooner rather than later. It’s definitely looking towards the trend of the extra-large clutch, and it pulls it off in classic style.

The multi-colored layers of plum, red, and tan crinkled patent leather give the Medwin a polished graphic art appeal, and add dimension to the flatness of the bag. The neutral tan base color really makes the rich hues of the red and purple pop, and the jewel-toned palette is definitely of the moment.

The 12.75″ x 7.5″ x 1″ size makes the Medwin generous enough to take to the office filled with the daily essentials, although at its slim 1″ width you might really have to slim down your idea of what’s essential. And for night, this is definitely a great go-to bag for dressing up your jeans or dressing down your evening gown while still being able to hold more than just your compact and keys.

The sleek patchwork patent of the Medwin also makes it a little sturdier than your average evening bag, which is crucial, considering its size. Miu Miu has cornered the market on the patchwork bag fashion trend. At least, it certainly seems that way. The designer offers what can only be described as a plethora of purses created with this intricate technique.

However, this Nappa Patchwork Hobo could not be more opposite from the recently reviewed Chevron handbag, which has a Chanel flavor to it. This Miu Miu definitely has a dinstinct style. It could be compared to one of its other Miu Miu sister bags, the Harlequin hobo. Like the Harlequin, the Nappa Patchwork purse has a slight circus feel with its colorful leather pieces in various shades of pink, red, purple, and brown.

I find myself a bit undecided about the style of this hobo, though. It is unique, which is admirable, but something seems a little off. The symmetry of the Harlequin patches has a gorgeous effect, but the Nappa’s patchwork is much more random. The irregular placement of the material is somewhat offset by the structured shape of the bag. It has a certain appeal but probably isn’t everyone’s idea of a classic. Perhaps I stand alone in my hesitation of this one, but it does grow on me a little the more I see it. Maybe it should be viewed like a piece of abstract art with a type of beauty that can be appreciated but requires a specific taste to own.

It does have nice details like the buckled leather straps on each side and the o-rings connected to the handle. The signature Miu Miu logo breaks up the leather material on the front. If you love the style but wish it stood out even more, the Nappa Patchwork Hobo also comes in an even more eye-catching color combination of black, fuschia, red, gray, and brown.

Michael Kors might not be the most cutting-edge designer, in my opinion, but he does have impeccable taste. His handbags in particular are usually so simple and sleek much like his own choice of wardrobe. Even if his bags aren’t the most avant-garde in fashion, they are always elegant.

Following the recent oversized bag trend, the Berkley handbag is a prime example of the stylish simplicity of Michael Kors. I know there are some who dislike the oversized trend, but I think it makes a clutch a bit more practical to use. You still have to carry it in your hands, but the larger size is much roomier for toting things around.

It’s not as if you’ll want to carry a handbag like this everyday anyway. The glossy patent leather of the Berkley clutch calls for slightly dressier garb. It would look professional with your best meeting outfit or festive with a fun holiday dress. 

This Michael Kors purse closes with a magnetic snap. The modern cutout handle looks fabulous with the gold-tone hardware frame engraved with the designer’s signature logo.
