Navy is the new black, at least according to some fashion gurus. The neutral color has made a comeback in recent years and has moved way beyond the stigma of dark blue pantyhose and shoulder pads. It has emerged as a sophisticated shade that looks contemporary when paired with its sister color black.

This Fendi Borderline Clutch upholds the new, elegant look of navy with its satin ruffles. It is full of modern contrasts. The navy satin is embellished with black piping around the edges. French model turned First Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy is suing fashion label Pardon for distributing tote bags featuring her naked image.

Ten thousand of the racy canvas shoppers were snapped up for the bargain price of three euros. They feature the nude image of the Carla next to a caption reading “My guy should have bought Pardon!”

“Carla Bruni-Sarkozy has exclusive and absolute rights over her image,” said her lawyer. “We are going to ask for 125,000 euros in damages for the sale of this article which constitutes a moral and matrimonial attack.”

If she wins, the philanthropic First Lady plans to donate the princely sum to charity.

Pardon is sticking by their use of the image, with founder Peter Mertes commenting that Carla is “a public woman – you find photos of her everywhere.”

This isn’t the first time the label has courted controversy. Last year it upset French church leaders by selling sexy underwear sporting an image of the Virgin Mary.

What I like most about the bag is its unusual shape. It really strikes a great balance between structured and slouchy with its soft bottom and frame top. The smaller size of the bag solves some of the problems that I saw in the Jet Setter Jr., in terms of the bag being slouchy to the point of slovenly. The Stud City is 10.5″ wide x 14″ tall when the top frame of the bag is folded over, and 20″ tall when opened up.

I love the versatility of the Stud City. The ability to fold the top down and use the removable shoulder strap makes it easier to imagine with a wider variety of outfits. On days when you just have to bring everything you own with you, you can fill it to the brim and hook the handle over your arm. When you don’t need as much, you can just let the top flop over and use the shoulder strap. Worn either way, the Stud City is one bag that definitely works double time in terms of style.

A few weeks ago I showed you Christian Dior’s latest advertisement for their Lady Dior handbags. The dramatic photographs star Academy Award winning French actress Marion Cotillard, the iconic Eiffel Tower, and of course, that chic patent Lady Dior purse.

Now the fashion house has released this short film which takes you behind the scenes of this stunning shoot. You’ll see how photographer Peter Lindbergh creates his breathtaking images, and just how beautiful Marion looks even before the make-up team weaves their magic. There’s also plenty of droolworthy footage of that gorgeous Lady Dior handbag. All those shots of the Lady Dior medallion gleaming in the sun make me swoon with purse envy!

The Paris commercial is the first in a series of four new Lady Dior advertisements. Each will be set in a different international location. I can’t wait to see which exotic locale we’ll be whisked away to next!

The Dylan is a great choice for adding a hard edge to preppier styles, or for bringing that little extra to a look that is already heavy on the attitude.

Bottega Veneta has unveiled its first Cruise Collection with a contemporary advertising campaign.

The brand new line is the brainchild of Tomas Maier. The varied purses, from the dainty minaudieres to the oversize tote bags, really cater to all tastes. The colors are fresh and vibrant, just perfect for lazing by the pool of any ocean liner. Of course Bottega Veneta’s signature woven look gets a workout.

The bags are the stars of these commercials, but they share the limelight with model Colette Pechekhova. These stylish shots are the work of Todd Eberle, who is famous for his work with Vanity Fair. The images were captured in a residential building in New York, which was designed by French architect Jean Nouvel.

These bold photographs really bring out the colors and geometric lines of the Cruise Collection. Some appear almost like abstract artworks than commercial advertisements.
