There are few handbag designers that I can imagine offering a tie dye selection. However, it doesn’t surprise me in the least bit that one of them is L.A.M.B. Though the printed pattern is available on several different L.A.M.B. bags, the Galloway is one tall drink of tie dye to take in.

Like creator Gwen Stefani, L.A.M.B. is known for its quirky styles. Most of the designer’s bags have a unique pattern detailed with classic leather trim. The Galloway stays true to the L.A.M.B. style sensibility and adheres to its rule of offbeat fashion.

Though it also comes in a classic plaid, the tie dye just begs to be discussed. It certainly stands out from other handbags. Various shades of green merge throughout the large satchel, but the colors are broken up by tan leather panels along the top, sides, and bottom of the bag. In addition to the already overwhelming variety of color, a simple black and tan leather stripe runs down the front of the Galloway.

This L.A.M.B. satchel fits into the large handbag category. It would easily fit a book or magazine and other extras along with your essentials. You’ll find more storage in the multiple interior pockets. The little details on the exterior, however, make the Galloway worthy of a second look. The signature L.A.M.B. “L” logo appears in gold toned accents on the front stripe, the handle anchors, and the sides of the bag.

I realize that tie dye is a very specific look and not fitting to everyone’s personal taste. However, the Galloway blends unconventional and classic style in a surprisingly elegant way. L.A.M.B. managed to create a tie dye purse that could appeal to many types of women without reminding us of a grade-school art project. The thing about people who take fashion risks is that sometimes they come up with extraordinary things, and sometimes they come up with things that are terrifying. The same goes for designers. Alexander McQueen, in his reign as fashion’s leading bad boy, has done both. Say what you like about him, but he never fails to surprise, and every time I think he’s gone off the deep end with something I hate, he comes back and hits me with something amazing like the Squeeze It clutch.

First of all, I could not think of a more perfect name for this bag. The Squeeze It clutch looks exactly as though the hot pink patent leather has been squeezed into shape by loving hands. The delicate stitching gives just enough texture to the bag for me to know that it was carefully crafted, instead of molded by machine.

Everything about the surface of the Squeeze It is deliciously high-gloss. I love the candy-colored leather combined with the almost candy-shaped exterior. The shiny silver magnetic clasp fits right in the nook of the squished-in middle of the clutch, which makes it seem like a natural part of a purse that is beautiful in a very unnatural way.

While the bag is both longish and widish for a clutch, at 12.5″ x 8″ x 1″, it is a bit slim, and fitting all your party gear in might be something of a heady task. And at a retail price of over $1,000, it might be a purse that is also a little hard to purchase, given the current economic downturn. So, while the Squeeze It is a feast for the eyes, it might not be the most practical accessory. Despite all that, I find its bold appeal more than a little hard to resist. It could add amazing punch to your favorite little black dress, or bring your denim up to couture level.

Long time Longchamp girl Kate Moss has appeared alongside Russian model Sasha Pivovarova in the fashion house’s spring/summer 2009 campaign.

The girls sport matching blonde choppy hairstyles, coordinated outfits, and perfect pouts. You’d never guess Kate was 11 years older. They look like twins!

The vibrant shots were captured by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot. The color-saturated commercials are a sharp departure from this year’s classic black-and-white advertisements.

Previous campaigns have shown Kate wearing her birthday suit and only a Longchamp handbag for modesty. The new advertisements are much less risqué as the models don the label’s new ready-to-wear line.

“The idea is to create key items you can mix with everything,” said Sophie Delafontaine, Longchamps’ artistic director.

“It’s important we have a line of ready-to-wear to express our fashion personality,” added the brand’s managing director, Jean Cassegrain.

I don’t mind the bold black and blue outfits, but I’m much more enamored with Kate Moss’ lush brown satchel. Sasha’s slim chocolate clutch is also stunning!

The metallic snake-print exterior is something you’ll either love or loathe. Personally it’s a little too brassy for my tastes, but it’d be a great statement piece if you’ve got the confidence! Just make sure to pair it with neutrals so the bag can really shine.

The look might not have won me over, but I can’t help admiring this shopping tote’s functionality. It’s made of lightweight microfiber, making it perfect for a marathon session at the mall. But beware of loading up this tote too much. Those thin dual straps don’t look too kind on shoulders.

The interior is made for organization with all kinds of clever features. There are two pouches, one for a cell phone and the other for your iPod, plus a handy pen holder. The tote also comes complete with a coordinated cosmetics purse. The large purple “Falchi” script on this make-up case looks a little tacky, but it is nice to have somewhere to stash your compact and lipstick.

The Carlos Falchi Shopping Tote isn’t to everyone’s tastes, but at $220 retail it’s one of the designer’s most affordable purses. That makes it a steal for those who can embrace its design quirks.

The new Coach Resort Collection offers quite a mix of earth tones and bright, showy fabrics. One of the more vibrant options is the Madison Graphic Op Art Sabrina handbag. This is definitely not one of Coach’s naturally-colored leather purses. The Graphic Op Art fabric, which is available on more than one bag shape, stands out from the crowd with its multicolored pattern.

It’s not what I typically expect from Coach, but the bag has a certain appeal to it. It seems a little fussy at first glance and is a bit overwhelming to take in all at once. However, the Sabrina shape is classic, and there are some outfits that could look great when accessorized with a bright handbag like this one. Although it was recently unveiled, I see myself carrying it more during the spring and summer months.

The Graphic Op Art Sabrina is definitely meant for daytime and won’t go with everything you own, but there are details that make it very appealing. The crinkled patent leather trim and handles looks trendy. The signature Coach “C” pattern on the fabric has delicate stitching around each letter shape. Another popular detail is the detachable strap that can be worn on the shoulder or across the body. I could do without the excess of Coach tags hanging from one of the handle rings, but I realize that some designer divas love that sort of thing.

Inside you’ll find a zippered pocket and fabric lining. The classic Coach logo and emblem shine on the front leather panel. Like many other Coach bags, the Madison Graphic Op Art Sabrina is reasonably priced at $358. For a designer handbag with lots of personality, that’s not a bad deal.

Alexander McQueen is known for his cutting-edge, bad boy designs. Usually I love the way he lives up to his reputation, but I have to say that, while I like the luxurious leather and unusual shape of the bag, I find the overabundance of silver accessories dangling from the Bubble distracting and off-putting.

The front flap pocket would be a great asset if it weren’t for the enormous Western-styled buckle and strap closure. First of all, the buckle makes it inconvenient to get into the pocket. And, since it is the visual centerpiece of the bag, it distracts from some of the more subtle and beautiful details of the bag, like the weathered grain of the soft leather, or the intricate stitching on the pocket flap.

Each side of the Bubble features an O-ring for attaching chains and charms, and one chain of charms is included on the bag. The rolled leather dual handles are attached to the purse by ornate, T-shaped hardware. This is another detail that could be really intriguing if there weren’t already so much to look at.

All that being said, there is something purposeful about the over-design of this bag, which is characteristic of McQueen’s ironic and irreverent approach to fashion. At over $2,000, this is a bag for major McQueen enthusiasts, or for a woman whose personal style can handle this level of ironic detail.
