I am really disappointed that the eLUXURY store is closing its’ retail operations later this year in June. I’ve been a customer for four years and have always been respectful of their keen fashion savvy-ness.

Not only have they featured up-n-coming or avant-garde designers, but they’ve paired these seemingly risky decisions with some of the most posh designer selections available anywhere.

Case in point: Just as the e-tailer is introducing Elizabeth and James (Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsens designer label), they’ve managed to gather some desirable Fendi handbags.

Be sure to check out the hottest bag to hit the net. The Fendi Peek-A-Boo Satchel, available for pre-order in various colors and finishes, is the must-have bag of the year.

This well-appointed and extremely versatile bag features an elegant top handle as well as a detachable shoulder/cross-body strap (which I’d probably never use). The ‘Peek-A-Boo’ is quite roomy and measures a sizable 16 x 12 x 6.5.

You can choose from a variety of looks as I mentioned earlier. Prices range from $1930 for a linen/suede rendition of this popular runway bag to $5740 for a gorgeous watersnake version that is way out of my budget for the foreseeable future.

My personal picks are the black patent leather ($2590) and red leather versions ($2350).

These are expensive bags, ladies, but their classic silhouette lends itself to the very versatility it touts, and I, for one, am a believer in investing in bags that will look as great 10 years from now as they do today. Now if eLUXURY would just reconsider their decision to shut down their retail section, I’d be a happy camper!

We all salivate over the latest designer handbags and shoes, but since the financial crisis few of us have the cash to take one home. But why deprive yourself? Bergdorf Goodman’s is serving up affordable luxury accessories which are just as delicious as the originals.

Tomorrow the Fifth Avenue store’s BG restaurant will start serving Prêt-à-Portea, a special menu of fashionable petit fours, cookies, and layered desserts. Linda Fargo and Roopal Patel of Bergdorf Goodman were inspired by the latest collections from Chanel, Oscar de la Renta, Michael Kors, Phillip Lim, and Christian Louboutin.

“There were definitely designers that came down the runway that you thought, dessert,” said Mr. Patel.

“Maybe you can’t have it, but at least you can eat it,” added Ms. Fargo.

These edible bags will be available at the New York Bergdorf Goodman’s store from February 13 to 20, coinciding with New York Fashion Week. High tea is only served from 3 to 5 pm, so reservations are recommended. Call (212) 872-8977 to make sure you don’t miss out!

Just when I thought it impossible for a retailer not to have an online store in today’s global society, I’ve been proven wrong. Popular brand Moschino has announced that it will finally set up shop in cyberspace.

The company’s stylish clothing, handbags and other accessories will be available on their new virtual boutique starting Monday. People everywhere will be able to shop their favorite Moschino, Love Moschino, and Cheap and Chic fashions.

To mark the launch of the site, model Amber Le Bon, the 19-year-old daughter of Yasmin and Simon Le Bon, will guest edit the virtual store, with a shoot featuring looks from the Cheap and Chic collection.

I have no doubt that the shop will do well considering the popularity of the brand. If you’re lucky, maybe you’ll be one of the first 500 customers online Monday to snag an accessory created exclusively for the opening.

Since their Fifty-Five bag was feature on Ellen’s Christmas giveaway, Matt & Nat’s popularity has skyrocketed. Though the brand has been popular with animal-friendly crowds for a while now, the spotlight has brought these designers’ stylish bags to the attention of fashion lovers everywhere.

The best perk of choosing all-vegan, man-made handbags is the price. By removing the option of real leather materials, Matt & Nat are able to keep nearly all of their bags under $400. The cute Kali Hobo shown here is only $240. That might still be a little high for many budgets, but for the designer purse market it’s not bad at all.

I love the shiny pewter color of the vegan leather. It has such a modern feel to it, which is accentuated by the two diagonal zippers on the front. Silver on the hardware and signature logo plate blends with the bag’s color. 

The Kali is a decently-sized hobo. Beyond the two external zippered pockets, you’ll also find a slip pocket on one side and several pockets inside. The interior is line in a luxurious faux suede. The Matt & Nat Kali comes in several other colors including blue and a bright fuchsia.

Katie Holmes has traded in her baggy boyfriend jeans and sensible mom clothes to star in Miu Miu’s new spring/summer 2009 advertising campaign.

Fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott shot the stunning photos in New York City last November. The campaign features the saturated hues and dramatic lighting we’ve seen so much of this season. But the approach is more classic than much of the current advertising, paying tribute to Fellini and the excesses of ancient Rome.

It looks like Mrs Tom Cruise had an easy time of things. She got to laze around in this beautiful Miu Miu dress and let the stunning handbag do all the work! Fashions come and fashions go, but classic looks remain. It’s always fun to follow the fads, but if you’re looking for a clutch to carry for years to come consider this beauty from Muska Milano.

The domed shape has a slight slouch thanks to the buttery-soft calf leather. The skin is subtly embossed with a snakeskin print and available in a range of classic colors. Black, brown, and tan are reserved, while navy blue and red are slightly more daring.

My favorite feature is the top clasp which is covered with small glittering crystals. The scalloped pattern with white and colored gems gives the purse an art deco look.

In keeping with the clutch’s old-school styling, it’s a little on the small side. That makes it perfect for hand-held carrying, but you’ll need to scale back your “essentials.”  A zippered pocket helps you make you most of the space on offer.

At $799 retail, this Muska Milano purse seems a little steep for an accessory you’ll only carry after five. But if you’re a social butterfly or red carpet regular, the asking price of this classic clutch may be a little easier to swallow.

Lanvin is known for their subtle, elegant designs. Even when their materials are heavily printed, they are always tasteful, and almost never over-designed. This sunny spring tote is no exception, with its cheerful color palette and sleek styling.

The first thing I should say is that I love the print on this tote. With the smartly-dressed ingenue centrally placed and the soft blossoming flowers surrounding her, it is somehow reminiscent of some of Toulouse-Lautrec’s famous prints. I even love the bright rays of sunshine, and am not put off by the heavy text, which translates to, “Lanvin All Year Round” on the side, and “Spring Collection” on the bottom.

The waxed canvas material is durable, and makes it perfect as a shopper. The size is more than generous for a tote, at 17″ x 18″ x 2″. The handle drop of 7″ means that you could even sling it over your shoulder if you wanted to, and the interior pouch pocket is convenient for stowing your keys as you amass luxury goods.

So, then, what’s the catch, you ask? The price. This lovely little tote is $680 retail, which would be reasonable for a great daily handbag, but not for something that I might stow my celery in at the farmer’s market! Between this and the Lanvin Satin Bowler, I am really beginning to question what one of my favorite labels, Lanvin, is doing with its accessories line.
