To coincide with New York Fashion Week, Yves Saint Laurent has released a special limited edition unisex collection. The exclusive fashion range, designed by Stefano Pilati, will only be available this week from YSL’s pop-up shop in The Bowery.

The look is inspired by Yves Saint Laurent’s iconic 1960s tuxedos and the 1970s penchant for androgyny. You’ll find wide trousers with wide waists and ankle cuts, sexy trench coats, snuggly cardigans, and ultra-functional handbags.

I’m not sure the man in my life would fancy the collection’s feminine edge, but girls seeking a no-nonsense office look are likely to eat this up. There’s also something so appealing about buying an exclusive range you won’t see on every street corner.

If you love the look you’ll have to be quick. It’s only available from the 55 Great Jones store at The Bowery in New York until February 21. You have been warned!

This bag is heavily featured in the current Jimmy Choo ad campaign, which means you may have seen it in places like Vogue, Elle, or on the side of a Manhattan-bound bus. Since Jimmy Choo became a household name akin to the likes of Manolo, his bags and shoes have become ever more ubiquitous.

My first impression of this bag is that it has a distinctive, Catherine Deneuve style sophistication that I usually admire. The leopard sports make it a little bit retro, but the conservative tan pony skin and dark brown handles make it look totally modern traditional. Which leaves me wondering: what’s the point?

The Mandah Hobo is neitheir new nor old, neither vintage nor modern, and frankly, it just looks like something I’ve seen before, and maybe a thousand times before. The craftsmanship is good and it is super-carryable, but most of me looks right past those qualities and says, “Eh … who cares?”

This is the sort of middle-of-the-road design that just leaves me feeling cold. That being said, it is a conservative, sophisticated bag with a touch of flair. It would be great for the kind of woman who thinks leopard spots are really wild, and needs them tamed down a bit. Personally, I am not that girl, but I know a lot of diehard Jimmy Choo fans who are really going to swoon over this one.

Known for their classic, modern designs, Bottega Veneta pulled out all the stops on another new take on the traditional intrecciato clutch. Redefining the woven clutch seems to be a theme of the fall line, although this bag does it in a totally different way than the Neon Woven Box Clutch.

Bottega Veneta managed to pack a whole lot of luxe details into this gorgeous little clutch. It only begins with the subtle tiger striping superimposed on the soft woven texture of the clutch. I love the way this combination of pattern and texture gives the clutch an exotic, but earthy appeal.

The simple frame top of the clutch is made of deep, rich brown leather, instead of the usual shiny metal, which makes for a nicer complement to the neutral tones of the bag than a shiny gold or silver tone would. I love the signature knot clasp at the top; it really works with the overall natural look of the clutch.

Apparently Mandy Moore’s fashion line is officially finished. The celebrity recently closed the doors of her brand Mblem, which was originally started in 2005.

I can’t help but think, “Mandy Moore had a fashion line?” I guess I might remember seeing a blip about it on some entertainment news show, but it certainly didn’t seem to make it huge in mainstream fashion.

The singer/actress/designer alluded to the fact that the line was no longer a portrayal of her creative vision. Perhaps a difficult economy also played a part in the brand’s demise. Although Mblem didn’t work out for her, Mandy hasn’t quit her love of fashion yet.

“If I were to dip my toe back in there, it would have to be the right situation … a great partnership that could represent a true reflection of me and my ideas and you know that wasn’t happening,” Mandy said.

I suppose for now we’ll just have to satisfy our love of celebrity designers with other fabulous lines like L.A.M.B. and Jessica Simpson. I’m sure these popular brands won’t be closing their doors anytime soon.

Sharif’s modern take on the tote bag combines all the functional features we need with a fun chic look.

It seems that we won’t have to wait much longer to see the highly-anticipated movie about the life and work of Valentino.

The documentary entitled Valentino: The Last Emperor, which originally premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2008, will make its way into New York City theatres on March 18th before move on to other major U.S. cities a few weeks later.

Expect to catch glimpses of the designer’s exclusive inner circle and behind the scenes of his incredible runway shows. The movie highlights Valentino’s long career in fashion and ends with his recent retirement bash.

We all know about the man’s talent for creating timeless apparel and gorgeous handbags. Like other lovers of fashion, I look forward to understanding the genius of Valentino a little better from the inside look provided by the film.

There are so many delightful elements to this gorgeous Christian Louboutin clutch that it’s hard to know where to start. Christian Loubotin’s designs are so subtle and timeless that I find myself almost completely unable to find something wrong with them, except that they are out of my price range.

The Cancan clutch combines deep, rich, smooth black satin with and elegant and delicate spray of feathers. The bow on the front of the bag is almost sculptural in design, and I love the way the feathers play against its sleekness with their own seemingly uncontrolled arrangement.

The clutch itself is extremely well-though out. Its 10″ x 3″ x 2″ size is a perfect fit in the palm of your hand, but it is long enough to hold more than your average clutch without being too bulky.

But, what I like best about the Cancan Clutch is the amazing craftsmanship, and the almost hidden, to-die-for details. The trademark red lining, for example, peeking out from behind the black satin is the kind of touch that makes me swoon. 

With its high Hollywood glamour, this clutch is sure to make any occasion a special occasion.

Project Runway 4 winner Christian Siriano is preparing to launch his latest line at New York Fashion Week.

The collection is the result of a collaboration between footwear retailer Payless ShoeSource, but you can expect the pieces to be a lot sexier than sneakers. Christian Siriano has designed accessories and footwear for the range which includes everything from everyday totes to clutch purses and strappy heels.

Expect the line to be a little exotic, with Christian drawing his inspiration from Egypt.

It all sounds incredibly glamorous, but since it’s Payless we won’t need to pay the earth to get our hands on those must-haves. The Christian Siriano accessories are expected to range in price from $25 to $45.

New Yorkers can see the show on February 19 at The Salon in Bryant Park tents. The rest of us will have to wait until the Christian Siriano purses and shoes hit Payless stores in fall.
