When I think of Dooney & Bourke, I think of either their logo print or something just like this Birdseye Lucy bag. The Lucy is a prime example of their well-known, signature look: high-quality, simple, and casual chic.

Sure, they’ve got their fair share of the off-beat or showy handbags like the bright floral Cindy Tote or the Zebra Bitsy Bag. However, the Lucy, with its simplistic use of leather trim, seems much more recognizable as a Dooney & Bourke than the other styles.

The intricately woven jacquard fabric is where this Birdseye version of the Lucy earns its name. Though not instantly noticeable, after looking more closely you’ll see that the tight weave is a pretty texture for the handbag. The fabric, labeled as yellow though more ivory than anything, is set off nicely by tan leather trim.

One thing about Dooney & Bourke bags that I appreciate is the attention they pay to practicality. Although there are generally decorative features like the buckled handles and silver studs on this one, storage is something that’s not ignored with these handbags. On the Lucy, you’ll find two very convenient front pockets with a functional but pretty snap tab closure. The interior is lined in a sturdy canvas material and has a few pockets and a key fob.

If you’re not over the moon about this yellow-ish ivory color, the Birdseye Lucy also comes in black and chestnut brown. Each of the other two versions has corresponding leather trim but contrast stitching like the one shown here. The medium-sized Birdseye Lucy retails for $295.

Most girls love to indulge in a bubbly beverage every now and then, but with this Timmy Woods bag you can enjoy champagne every day! What’s more, it doesn’t come with a nasty hangover!

Eco-friendly Timmy Woods has carved this fun purse from fallen Acacia trees. Each one is lovingly handcrafted and then hand-painted over 30 days, which makes the $315 price tag seem like a steal. It sports a colorful cityscape image and the signature Timmy Woods crest. The black woven cord isn’t the most stylish strap, but at least it’s long enough for over-the-shoulder carrying and cross-body toting.

The champagne bottle shape was never going to offer a lot of storage room, and this really restricts what you can carry around. Prepare to pare back your essentials to a tiny cell phone, keys, and gloss, because it really doesn’t have the room for much else! While the space might not be luxurious, the black satin lining offers a little interior indulgence.

It’s too small and outrageous to work as a day-to-night purse, but this cheeky champagne shoulder bag is a great conversation starter for just the right occasion.

They say that money can’t buy style or taste, and that might explain why this expensive Roberto Cavalli is such a jumbled mess. There’s no denying the quality of this rare handbag, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired.

But first, the positives. It’s made from swakara, the lush fur of the Karakul sheep raised in Namibia. This wool is so soft to the touch, and the gray color is the sort of shade that’s easy to wear with anything. Gold tends to be one of those colors that adds class to any accessory, but it just doesn’t seem to work here. The purse is embroidered with 24k gold thread and that luxurious fiber is used again in the breaded shoulder strap.

But perhaps it’s just a bit too rich, so what should be striking seems like overkill. The abundance of tassels and clever stitching has a medieval tone which never quite gels with the modern wool finish. In fact, I’m not sure what contemporary bag would work with these antiquated accents!

A lot of work has gone into this purse, and that labor combined with the expensive materials might make the retail value of more than $6000 reasonable. But the design is just so confused that I’m not sure who’d want to pay that price to carry it!

I’m not sure how well some of these Tudor-inspired items will translate to everyday use, but I can definitely imagine glamming up a simple cocktail dress with one of those jewel-encrusted Judith Leiber minaudieres. Every gal needs to feel like a queen every so often, right?

A Tory Burch handbag without the brand’s signature T-shaped logo prominently displayed somewhere on it seems to be a rare thing. Though I rarely care to endorse a bag with extremely obvious branding, Tory Burch usually manages to do it with such great style that it doesn’t bother me one bit.

Perhaps I approve because the logo is so abstract, or maybe it’s the fact that it’s very often included in a subtle way like this embossed version on the Bombe T Tote. Either way, a simple and chic bag like the Bombe T is only enhanced by the crossed-T logo.

The difference between the smooth, glossy handles and crinkled patent body is just as subtle as the logo but a fabulous contrast on the Bombe T bag. The brown color of the shoulder straps and bottom side panels is just a shade darker than the main part of the tote drawing attention to the details but not distracting from the overall style.

It’s a slim handbag, so you won’t be able to fit too many bulky items in it. However, the deep interior compartment is more than appropriate for carrying paperwork to and from the workplace in addition to plenty of other necessities. Nancy Gonzalez is famous for creating classically cool accessories from the most luxurious exotic skin. This tote bag may be basic black, but the genuine crocodile skin ensures it’s anything but boring.

This luscious scaled skin needs little to spice it up, so Nancy keeps the embellishments to a minimum. Some chic ruching on the side dresses the tote up without taking the focus away from the exotic finish.

Treesje’s style is almost always a little classic and a little contemporary mixed together. Like the B. Makowsky Florence, it’s a great combination because it provides a seemingly timeless handbag with some trendy details that aren’t likely become out-of-date soon.

Some of the brand’s more popular styles exhibit this perfectly, like the Asher with its flat pleats and curved zippers and the London with its studded front. The Cypress Mini Satchel is also indicative of Treesje’s signature look, although this one leans a little more toward modern than classic.

Though a satchel is usually a fairly traditional bag, Treesje managed to add some features that take it from ordinary to interesting. Vivienne Westwood has worked with fashion darlings Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell, but her next muse could be a world away from the catwalk. Rumor has it that the British designer is captivated by American First Lady Michelle Obama.

It seems the whole world is besotted with Michelle Obama, so I’m sure any Vivienne Westwood collaboration would sell itself. But between being a mom to daughters Malia and Sasha and taking care of all those First Lady duties, one wonders when Michelle would find the time to work with the designer! I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
