This Nine West Sally tote combines slouchy and a bit of structure in one fashionable sweep. Though the first description here outweighs the last, it’s an appealing mixture of the two styles.

The most obvious feature is the relaxed body of the handbag. Soft pleats emphasize the casual look and soften the front of the rounded design.

The Sally’s manmade material has been embossed with a subtle snakeskinprint for a little texture. The faux leather material looks great in the teal color shown here, especially when set off by light brown trim, and highlights the nuances of the texture. However, the Sally Tote also comes in equally stylish black and brown. 

The structured aspect comes in on this Nine West bag with the rounded handles. There’s nothing slouchy about them. The circular design seems to loop through the tote’s trim along the top.

They’re the kind of handles that stand up on their own when not in use. Without a bottom panel, though, the whole handbag won’t do the same. I suppose that’s another reason that the slouchy prevails with the Sally.

Harveys, creators of the stylish and environmentally friendly seat-belt bags, have now expanded their range to include this bright and colorful tote. The woven bags, made out of old seat-belts, have been suitably dressed up for the occasion.

Taking on a patchwork quality, you can get these medium totes in color combinations “Peaches & Cream”, “Blue Grass” or the more dramatic “Carnivale”. All three varieties are bright and attractive, but I particularly recommend Peaches & Cream, with its leaning towards delicate corals and warm earth tones – it’s so on trend!

I have to admit that these bags are probably so successful and fashionable due to their novelty factor. Harveys have after all been featured in magazines from teens to crafts, and now sponsor their own range of crafts shows. The interior of this bag is quite delightful. A bright sixties pattern jumps out in orange and pink, reminding me of the drug and love-filled heydays of the psychedelic generation. That said, you won’t be blinded looking at the print – so no need to worry!

Thankfully, you do also get practicality, something often left out in bags with a big visual punch. You have the metal feet to protect your hold-all from wear and tear, as well as interior pockets and brilliantly long handles. An excellent and bold handbag that is great for making a style statement.

Retail giant Windsong Brands LLC has teamed up with Marvin Traub to purchase the luxury Carlos Falchi brand and its assets in a deal worth more than $5 million.

Windsong Brands secured the majority stake, while Mr. Traub, the former chairman and chief executive of Bloomingdale’s, also invested some cash. The pair has a history of joint acquisitions after securing Ellen Tracey in 2008.

Carlos Falchi comes with a 37-year-old history, and annual profits of around $10 million.  The investors hope to reinvigorate the marque, and increase its distribution and licensing of other fashion items including footwear and jewelry.

“Clearly [the brand is] not as big as it will be in the next few years,” said Mr. Traub, who also hopes to increase the label’s international profile. “I believe very much in it.”

The injection of fresh blood and passion can only be a good thing for Carlos Falchi fans worldwide.

Extra! Extra! Read all about it! This Jessica Simpson tote bag is impossible to ignore!

Just like those obnoxious newspaper sellers which inspired its name, subtlety isn’t the strong suit of the Extra Extra Tote. The patent leather finish, rendered in playful tones like Malibu blue and Jelly Bean green, demands attention. The shades are great for spring, but they’re not classic enough to become wardrobe staples.

Side zips look like they might help the bag expand, but no such luck. They’re a purely aesthetic element, which doesn’t really offer the punk rock edge intended. It’s disappointing, because I hear they have a habit of slipping undone and looking sloppy. Studded thread snakes through grommets to create a drawstring, but this is also a purely decorative touch. It’s a good thing too, because a fiddly drawstring would seem out of place with the Extra Extra’s carefree, flirty style. Instead there’s a convenient zip top closure, which opens to reveal a cute gingham lined interior.

A handy keychain hangs from the obligatory zippered pocket, so you’ll never have to rummage around your bag before starting your car. The flat bottom style is perfect for stashing plenty, while the long, wide shoulder straps provide the comfort you need when the Extra Extra is loaded up.

The Extra Extra is one cute tote with some real practical perks. I can imagine Jessica’s teen fans snapping up these babies, but older fans will probably pass it over for a more timeless design.

This isn’t the first time that Bulgari has enlisted pixie-faced model Jessica Stam for a campaign. The top-earning model is back with the brand again for their latest S/S 09 ads.

Stam nearly outshines the leather goods with her famous icy stare, but the Bulgari handbags make their own kind of statement that deserves attention. In this particular ad, the model poses with the recently released Dalia bag, a popular choice with celebrities like Eva Mendes and Freida Pinto.

The Italian luxury label’s campaign was created under the direction of Riccardo Ruini with fashionable styling by Katy England. With Stam showcasing their handbags like this, I’m guessing we’ll see more of her in future ads.

Hype has given the traditional bucket bag a contemporary twist with the Daphne.

Louis Vuitton is going high-tech, with the internet launch of a new handbag and Twitter page.

While the luxury designer has had an online presence for some time, it’s only recently that it’s begun to really explore its potential.

The Totally Monogram tote is the first, but hopefully not the last, designer bag available for online shoppers before it’s released to stores.

“We are thrilled to announce the worldwide exclusive launch of Totally Monogram on louisvuitton.com,” said the brand’s North American president and CEO, Daniel Lalonde. “Our on-line business has grown rapidly since we launched the e-commerce portion of our site in November 2007. We are delighted to be able to offer louisvuitton.com clients the exclusive opportunity to purchase this exciting new product prior to its debut in our retail stores.”

The carry-all will retail for $1000 until June 1st.

Then there’s the Twitter page, which promises to offer the label’s loyal fans information on new products and events.

“With this new presence on Twitter, we hope to provide not only additional customer service to our clientele, but also a unique look at all aspects of Louis Vuitton,” explained Mr Lalonde. “This new forum will allow us to communicate the extensive characteristics of the brand to a broader group and offer followers an exceptional experience with Louis Vuitton.”

There isn’t a lot of scintillating gossip at the moment, but hopefully that will change as Louis Vuitton settles into its new Twitter home!

Marc Jacobs is really killing me with the new summer collection. I have seriously loved almost every single bag, and I think that this safari-inspired collection makes for a really interesting counterpart to the line’s usually more clean-edged style.

I really love the material of this clutch. It is composed of a supple red quilted calfskin interwoven with an intricate design made of strips of gunmetal and bronze leather. And the leather bell-shaped tassels that seem to be one of this season’s signatures add a fabulous quirky touch to the overall look of the bag.

At 9″ x 6″ x 2″, this clutch is plenty big enough for a night on the town, but smaller than a lot of the spring clutches. Honestly, I’m pretty happy about that, because I find lugging around a hugely oversized clutch uncomfortable. The interior is lined with rich, lustrous navy satin that contrasts beautifully with the exterior’s color scheme.

Happily, the padlock is a purely decorative touch, and the top flap hides a magnetic snap closure. I love the look of the padlock, but who needs to fiddle with itsy-bitsy keys every time you need to get in your purse? The gold tone of the lock adds a lovely bit of bling to an otherwise earthy look.

At $695, the Runway Clutch is pretty reasonably priced for the designer realm. Although it’s not cheap, it’s affordable enough that it might just fly off the shelves.
