Although I wouldn’t typically think about purchasing a wallet that costs more than all the cash I’d have in it, this Botkier Gladiator is probably well worth it’s $245 price tag. Because the brand is known for using high quality materials, this small frame wallet is bound to last quite a while and easily take the daily beating it’s likely to receive.

The black color is also practical for everyday wear and tear as it won’t show scratches and stains as much. With its edgy silver hardware, including trendy studs, the Gladiator is a wallet with a personality, too.

A turnlock feature keeps the front flap closed. The silver detail also displays Botkier’s signature cursive logo. As all wallets go, the interior contains plenty of pockets and slots for your cards and IDs. The framed pocket on the back is perfect for coins and a few extras.

At over $200, you won’t likely want to replace the Gladiator wallet any time soon. However, knowing the reputation of Botkier’s designs, you probably won’t need to. If you like the design, look for the Gladiator in several other styles including a large satchel.

Oversized handbags are the purse of choice for bagistas around the world. But a British Crime Survey says our favorite fashion accessory makes us a target for identity theft.

These handbags make it easy to carry everything and the kitchen sink. For many women, that includes passports, bank statements, pay slips, and other valuable documents for fraudsters.

With bag thefts on the rise, it’s disturbing to know more than three-quarters of women carry purses with their name, date of birth, or address inside. More than half of girls also admit they are unsure what information a thief would require to steal their identity.

It’s not just women at risk either. Metrosexual lads carrying their man bags are also guilty of carrying sensitive documents.

We’re not suggesting you leave your favorite Versace Darling satchel behind, but you may want to reconsider what you’re carrying inside it. By avoiding the urge to overstuff and leaving those important documents at home, you could easily avoid becoming a statistic.

I’ve always felt a little resentful about Moschino’s Cheap & Chic moniker. I mean, it’s usually chic, but rarely cheap. It might be less expensive than their usual fare, but it’s still a high end designer line with high end designer prices. But, despite my resistance to their somewhat ironic title, I really like the cool twists that the line puts on traditional Italian tailoring.

This Borsa Tracolla Shoulder Bag is a fabulous addition to the collection. It has basically everything I want in a handbag: black leather, zippers, and bows. Now that might sound easy to come by, but it’s not. The combination of bows and black leather is rare and fabulous.

I also really adore the shape of this bag. It’s a hobo, but one that is structured enough that it can stand up on its own. The super thick leather handle will be comfortable no matter how much you stuff into this bag. And at 20″ x 10″ x 5″, that could be quite a lot. And the floppy black bows add a touch of femininity to a super edgy bag.

The exterior zippers aren’t just for show, either. They open onto zipper pockets perfect for stowing little things that you need to get to quickly, like your keys and subway card. The full zip top closure along the top will keep your valuable safely tucked away.

What can I say? I just love this bag. I only wish I could afford it. But at $1,047, it just isn’t what I consider cheap.

Dare to walk on the wild side with this bold Safari Satchel from Steve Madden.

The durable canvas finish is embellished with black and white zebra stripes for a dash of African flair. Here the stripes are paired with complementary black handles, tassel, and trim. I think that unified look stops the Safari from appearing too busy, as it does in the red and green bags. The introduction of another color just tips the balance for me, taking the Safari from daring to gaudy.

Personally I’ll take my color inside. The bright blue lining looks stunning, and since it’s made from hard-wearing twill it’s practical too. The leather trimmed zippered pocket adds to the Safari’s functional appeal, but I’d appreciate a few more pockets to help organize that generous interior.

Dual straps are a given for a purse of this size, but take a closer look. While most straps are located either side of the zip, these straddle the closure. I’m in two minds about this unusual orientation. While it will make the purse sit perfectly on your forearm, I imagine the handles will get in the way when you’re accessing the goodies inside.

It might have its design flaws, but the Safari is also one of those rare designer purses which comes in under $100. I can put up with a little inconvenience when I’m saving cash, but you might feel a little differently!

Chanel’s most recent resort show made its debut in Italy on Thursday night. The models sauntered down a casual outdoor boardwalk as guests watched from their wooden chairs in the sand.

The newest collection channeled old-world Venice in all of its glory. Female models wore retro bob wigs as they showcased the latest Chanel fashions. Striped knits were a big hit of the evening along with flowy prints.

The newest purses from the luxury label varied in size and style, all keeping with the vintage-like feel, though. Among the mix were ruched leather clutches, hatbox-shaped totes, and one particularly enviable and beach-ready striped handbag with a cut-out handle.

Karl Lagerfeld gave his thoughts on the evening’s inspiration:

“Venice has a genuine dark and mysterious side to it that fascinated me. I really like the Italian spirit and the Venetian lifestyle,” said Lagerfeld, sporting a royal blue jacket, white shirt and skinny black pants. “And let’s not forget that Coco Chanel came back to Venice for 10 years.”

Marc Jacobs is one of those designers who seems, year after year, to determine the trends. At least in America. Last year’s line of neon bright accessories foreshadowed the popular obsession with neon. This lemon yellow Hobo continues that trend, but takes the volume down ever so slightly.

This is a fatter hobo than the usual, and I really like that because it creates more useable space and has none of those teeny corners for your change to drift into. The stitch details follow the voluptuous curves of the bag and add a touch of luxury to this very aggressive accessory. 

The pleating adds volume to the main compartment, and the look of the two straps is fabulous. The thick leather one is made for comfort, and the chain link strap adds an extra edgy punch. The scalloped flap top closes with the trademark turnlock clasp.

The 17″ x 13″ x 3″ size makes this hobo totally fit in to the oversized bag trend. In fact, I’m pretty sure I could fit my laptop in there. Not that I would sully such a great accessory that way, but it’s nice to know that I could. And at $430, this bag is really reasonably priced for its size and quality, so that makes it another winner by Marc Jacobs in my book.
