Today is the day plenty of Christian Dior fans have been waiting for. The luxury label’s new short film, The Lady Noire Affair, has made its online premiere, and you can watch the thriller right here!

The piece harks back to the golden age of film noir, with its mysterious characters, dramatic lighting and musical score, and intriguing plot. It stars Christian Dior’s current muse, French actress Marion Cotillard, and another timeless beauty, the legendary Lady Dior handbag. Marion channels vintage stars of the silver screen like Ingrid Bergman and Lauren Bacall with her captivating performance.

The film sees Marion reunited with Olivier Dahan, who helped the actress turn in an Academy Award-winning performance in La Vie En Rose.

The short film is fab for fashion fans short on time, clocking in under the seven minute mark. I don’t want to give too much away, but it will leave you guessing up until the last second. The good news is that this is just the first in a series of Lady Dior films. Now I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Charles L Thomas may not have the star clout of a Louis Vuitton or Christian Dior, but for bag lover that’s a very good thing. While those handbags can easily cost a four-figure sum, this sexy Sandy retails for just $399.

The Sandy is every bit as eye-catching as a high-end designer creation. The almost trapezoidal shape is so unique, with its clean curved lines and structured design. The subtle texture of the cross grained Italian leather reminds me of Louis Vuitton’s Epi bags. The finish is accented with muted crocodile trim, embossed of course to keep the price down.

A triangular flap gives an envelope appearance, with a silver and rhinestone brooch mimicking an antique seal. There’s a lot going on, but Charles L Thomas ensures the elements never look too busy by keeping the colors subtle and classic.

The Sandy should be large enough for your daytime essentials, but forget about the luxuries. The structured shape may look chic, but it isn’t made for overstuffing. Zip and slip pockets are trimmed with leather for extra durability. There’s also a handy leather key-ring strap, so you’ll always know just where you left your car keys.

The braided strap probably won’t feel as comfortable as flat leather, but it does give the Sandy a fresh, contemporary look. In a world where designer handbags often start to look the same, it’s inspiring to see new designers like Charles L Thomas shaking things up a little.

Art and fashion have always gone hand in hand, but few luxury labels can boast the artistic partnerships of Louis Vuitton. Now a new book, Louis Vuitton: Art, Fashion, and Architecture, will celebrate the marriage between the French fashion house and the world’s most influential artists.

The hardcover anthology details collaborations with elite artists, architects, designers, and photographers. They include the graffiti and rose collections of Stephen Sprouse, the joke bags from Richard Prince, and the colorful Japanese purses of Takashi Murakami. Long time photographic collaborations with Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin and Annie Leibovitz are also celebrated.

Along with plenty of full color photographs, this gorgeous coffee table book features critical essays examining Louis Vuitton’s artistic development under the guidance of creative director Marc Jacobs.

Be & D are no stranger to sexy feminine ruffles: their Chatterly satchel channeled miniature ruffles with a rock-chick vibe, whilst the Kan Kan Tote was more about over-sized styling and origami structuring. The Tuilleries, the latest addition in a world full of clutches, continues the ruffles theme with a more demure feel.

Ruffles or layers can be over powering; the bag can be dwarfed by its decoration, and often so can your outfit. This purse, however, manages to avoid this. With soft crinkled layers, this bag leans more towards subtle than overt. The “clutched” shape means it looks completely at home in your hand, with the luxury Italian leather bunching in at the center.

To say this bag is subtle does demean its impact. In fact, this little purse isn’t short in the looks department, and the designers have ensured its impact by decorating the front. The patent leather centerpiece is adorned with large suede “baubles,” square chunks that add a much needed focal point to the crinkly bag. In comparison to the matching snakeskin patterned majority, the effect is lovely.

On top of great looks, this clutch gives you a lot of choice. From the optional long drop handle in chunky chain-link, to the zipped interior pocket, there’s just as much going on under the surface as there is on top.

Of course, with luxury materials like this, you do pay for it. Whilst a cheaper imitation would look essentially the same, I doubt you would feel the same without this delicate leather beauty on your arm!

Like many of the Hollywood elite, I am in love with Foley + Corinna’s quirky shapes and styles. I don’t review them that often, because, honestly, they all look pretty much alike, except for color. That is until this baby came around. It’s a whole new take on what has become a modern classic.

The classic F+C silhouette is still in effect, with its trademark rolled handle and oblong shape. This clutch version, which measures 15.5″ x 16″ x 3″ unfolded, is slightly larger than the average clutch if you hold it handles up. But if you fold it over, the height halves to only 8″, which makes it about on par with the oversized clutches of recent seasons.

The new addition is the tie-dyed leather bottom of the clutch. First of all, I love the colors. The rich grey melds perfectly with the violet and they both smear into a white middle. The colorway gives the bag a retro look that could be 60’s or 80’s, depending on how you rock it.

This is just another in a long line of great bags by Foley + Corinna, and I can’t wait to see more from this up and coming label.

Nothing’s as slick and stylish as patent-shine lizard leather. Balenciaga has managed to make it even chicer with shiny silver studded plate hardware on the front of their Brilliant Pouchette Bague.

Horizontal seams and a thin vertical strap flap add to the geometric look of the bag, which is modern and fresh.

Even the interior is leather, and features an open pocket and two compartments. I’m not sure how much they’ll hold with the 1.5 inch depth of the clutch, but this piece really isn’t about practicality, is it?

Adding to the impracticality is the price tag: $2,675. You’re obviously paying for a piece of Nicholas Ghesquiere’s vision for Balenciaga, not the 6 x 6.5 inch clutch. And for those who can afford this bag, I’m sure that’s just fine.

It seems almost contradictory to report about the practical outlook that Beyoncé has on fashion when she’s constantly seen toting some of the most expensive luxury handbags.

However, unlike the Birkin-obsessed Victoria Beckham’s of the world, this soulful singer/sometimes actress claims to have a limit when it comes to spending money on fashion. Beyoncé recently described her non-diva, laid-back style to The Mirror:

“I don’t know if I’m fashion obsessed. I think when I’m working, yes, but when I’m at home I usually wear the same thing every day. I have my straight-leg jeans and a pair of Christian Louboutins and a little jacket and a white shirt. I get sent about fifteen designer bags a month. I can only imagine how much they cost. Even I wouldn’t buy some of them.”

Well, it’s not as if she can be labeled a budget fashionista while stomping around in Louboutins every day, and I certainly don’t feel sorry for her having to deal with mountains of designers bag handouts every month (like her $42,000 Louis Vuitton Tribute … what a nightmare). However, with most shoppers pinching pennies these days, I suppose it’s nice to hear that even ridiculously overpaid celebrities might know when to reign in the spending.
