She might have left Orange County years ago, but Mischa Barton continues to be one of this generation’s style icons by doing a whole lot of nothing! That’s not entirely true; the actress is apparently a “handbag designer” these days.

I use the term loosely, because her fall/winter purses aren’t really anything to get excited about. They’re not bad really, and they do borrow from Mischa’s signature boho-chic look. But there are none that really stick in my mind, or make me drool. It’s all just a little ho-hum. It’s a shame Mischa couldn’t capture the envelope-pushing style we love her for in this collection.

At least there’s something in the range to suit everybody. We can choose from oversized slouch bags and totes, or smaller purses and clutches. Some are stripped back and basic, while others overdose on zips, tassels, buckles, and studs.

The White House wants you to know that the First Lady wasn’t toting around alligator skin on a recent trip to Russia.

It was an official clarification made after handbag brand VBH mistakenly identified one of their clutches in an official photo from Moscow. It’s no mistake that Michelle Obama is a huge fan of the label. She has been spotted at numerous events carrying their designs.

However, when VBH boasted that the First Lady was carrying a nearly $6,000 alligator manila clutch recently, White House was quick to correct. They stated that Mrs. Obama was, instead, styling a patent leather version of the clutch that costs a mere $875.

I’m sure the goal was to ensure that her practical, no-nonsense image isn’t tarnished by overspending in the midst of a financial crisis. I’m not sure that $875 is what most would call “attainable” even if it is significantly cheaper than the $6k version. Well, at least I’m sure they’ve appeased PETA in this matter.

I’m fairly certain that Joe’s Jeans is not one of those top popular brands for handbag-obsessing women. However, when the label’s creator expanded into the wide world of accessories a couple of years ago, he carried over the brand’s stylish and sexy look.

When airlines insist you need to check in all weapons, they’re not just talking about knives and other garden-variety nasties. Nunchakus are also frowned upon, as one Chinese man found out recently.

He was carrying a pair of the traditional kung-fu weapons in his handbag, but was forced to check them in before boarding a flight from the Guangzhou Baiyun international airport in Guangdong’s capital.

It’s a strange thing to stash in your man bag, but the passenger had a completely reasonable explanation. He’s simply a big fan of Taiwanese pop star Jay Chou. He bought the nunchakus in an effort to get his kung-fu skills up the standard of his idol.

As the weapons were confiscated, I guess he’ll never get to find out whether he could have become the next kung-fu master. But something tells me they’re not the kind of items a rank amateur should play with anyway!
