Celestina’s handmade clutches are some of the most extraordinarily crafted handbags I have ever seen. You can find them tucked into them palms of some the A-listyiest celebrities out there, like Halle Berry, and in the editorial spreads of every major fashion magazine.

This Roseanne clutch is definitely in keeping with Celestina’s fabulous reputation. Each individual square is made of gorgeous and unique Tiger Pen Shell and mosiaced onto this beautifully-shaped box. The edges are accented with ebony, and the interior is lined with suede. Every tiny piece of this purse is impeccably curated, which makes it more like an art piece than a purse.

The natural variations in the Pen Shell give a lot of texture to the design, and the color range and pattern of their placement allows the organic luminosity of the materials to show through.

The small size means that it isn’t the best clutch for toting out your whole cosmetic bag, but if you’re carrying this baby, chances are good that you also went to the trouble of having your makeup done for you. Not that this clutch is exclusively for red carpet events. I can see it making a big splash for an uptown dinner date, as well.

Calvin Klein seem to like woven design techniques on their handbags at the moment. Their latest addition, this Liquid Leather Wristlet, features elegant weave on a small clutch scale.

I particularly love the color of this wristlet. Available also in black and “chino”, this patent purse works best in the bright tangerine orange shade that catches eyes and hits trends with minimal effort. Vogue-style orange shade aside, this small clutch revels in a combination of luxury patent leather interwoven with coordinating ribbon. The textures build up depth, and the combination of bondage patent and little girl ribbon at once seems both risque and innocent.

Musings about the fabrics of this Calvin Klein handbag over and done with, I must mention that whilst the outside is modern luxury through and through, the shiny silver/pearl satin interior adds a somewhat strange contrast. Not only to the two colors not work together(they don’t even clash in a fashionable way!), but silver satin in combination with patent leather always risks looking tacky.

If you ignore the lining of this tiny woven wristlet, then the rest of the purse with its hardware logo and folded top is actually quite desirable. It’s pricey, at $138 dollars, but probably the most desirable seville orange handbag going.

Crocheted handbags usually remind me of my grandmother, but Stuart Weitzman shows it is possible to inject youthful energy into the style. Meet the Knit Wit satchel.

While it may look like yarn from a distance the Knit Wit actually features luxurious nappa leather, crocheted to resemble modern blooms. The floral finish adds interest, while bold colors like this naranja orange ensure it doesn’t look too girly. The grosgrain lining peeks through the flowers, making sure your small essentials don’t slip through the petals.

The open top design makes it easy to retrieve your ringing cell phone from the slip pocket, but it also makes me worry about security. Without a platform base to help it stand up, your goodies are bound to spill when you set this purse down.

The floral finish of this Stuart Weitzman handbag might make you long for spring, but its rich earthy hues are right on trend for the fall season. $598 does seem a little pricy for such a novelty design, but if you’re quick you can snag it on Endless for roughly half the price.

From Ralph Lauren’s luxurious Purple Label comes this ultra opulent alligator bag.

Drawstring bags tend to be a relaxed affair, but there’s nothing casual about this exotic purse. As if genuine alligator doesn’t have enough oomph, this skin is given a metallic bronze makeover. Personally, I feel this glitzy coat cheapens the look. The brassiness makes it resemble an imitation exotic rather than the real deal. And with its whopping $20, 000 price tag, I’d want to people to know my bag is authentic!

The exterior doesn’t impress me, but the inside has me salivating. It’s fitting that such a luxurious space is lined in buttery soft chocolate leather. It’s not the most practical choice, but something tells me anyone who carries a handbag worth $20k isn’t so concerned with everyday issues! But sadly, this is another case of style winning out over substance. It’s lacking in the organization department, although if you dropped this much on a purse you might not have the cash to buy anything to put in it!

This bag’s gaudy finish is not to my tastes, and its retail value is not to my budget, but I can imagine the Paris Hiltons of this world embracing this show pony!

This fun shopper shows us that tie-dyed fabrics don’t have to look like hippie throwbacks. By keeping things subtle, Magid brings boho style that isn’t stuck in the 60s.

The easy breezy look is accentuated by the paper straw finish. It’s tightly woven for a little extra strength, but I still don’t expect it to last very long. But at $38 retail, it won’t cost too much to replace! The colorful tie-dyed look is continued throughout the handles, which are strangely removable. You couldn’t easily carry this bag without them, so I wonder why Magid gave us the option!

Affordable handbags like this don’t tend to come with a lot of extras, so I was pleasantly surprised to peek inside this one. It’s lined in bright, satiny fabric, and there’s a zippered pocket and a cell phone slip too. Turn the bag upside down and you’ll even find some protective metal feet! That should make the straw exterior last a little longer.

The casual styling and candy colors of this Magid shopper mean you’ll find it most useful in the warmer months. But don’t put it in the back of your closet once winter strikes. It’ll look cute carrying fresh produce home from the markets at any time of year!

It might be called a duffel, but this Kooba Riley is like no duffel bag that I’ve ever seen.

The traditional cylinder shape is gone, replaced with a chic angular design. Handy side pockets flare out to create the contemporary look, complemented by the modern lines of the large front pocket. The pebbled black leather is a timeless choice, offset by shiny silver hardware. The sexy round turnlock is the most striking, but the side snap tabs and zippers add a little more flash.

While Kooba enjoys playing with the duffel, at least its functional reputation is maintained. The sizeable interior space is well organized, with the obligatory zip and slip pockets, a pen slot, and a key hook. The double rolled handles are just long enough for carrying over your shoulder and or on your arm.

It might be just as practical, but don’t expect to use the Riley as a traditional duffel. It’s much more at home in the office or a cocktail bar than a sweaty gym!

When New York Magazine asked designers to describe their upcoming spring collection, I’m sure they expected a variety of answers. The result, however, is more than just a list of adjectives. There are some flat-out strange descriptions … even for fashion.

The only guideline given to the designers was to sum it all up in one word. While that might not sound very complicated, it seems that not everyone could follow the rules. Most of them, though, were quite creative in their one-word (or at least hyphenated compound word) answers.

Among the list were “Fluid” (Diane Von Furstenberg), “Off-shore” (Proenza Schouler), and “Positive” (Hayden-Harnett). One of the strangest answers has to be “Perv” by relative newcomer Alexander Wang. That sure has me curious about his new collection.

In case you’re interested, the designers among the group whose collections were just too big to describe in one word include Tommy Hilfiger, who chose a completely predictable “American Way” answer, and Tory Burch, who went with a somewhat similar “American Beauty.”

One of my personal favorites is Michael Kors’ phrase “Indulgent Minimalism.” I can practical hear those words coming out of his mouth in an overly enunciated way. I’m almost positive he’s said it on Project Runway before. If not, I’ll bet we hear it in a future episode.

Next month Tommy Hilfiger will open the doors of its new flagship store in New York City.

The brand’s CEO Fred Gehring says Tommy Hilfiger is delighted to open its world headquarters in the American fashion capital. He adds that the move represents the company coming full circle, as Tommy Hilfiger began in the Big Apple more than twenty years ago.

So it’s fitting that the new store blends contemporary elements with traditional 20th century architecture. It was designed by the label’s creative team in association with Callison Architects. The centerpiece of the 2000 square meter space is a modern staircase designed to look like a floating sculpture. It doesn’t just help shoppers access the outlet’s four floors. It also functions as an exhibition platform for art installations.

The store will present a series of exclusive products and new packaging to celebrate the September opening. You can find the brand new Tommy Hilfiger store at 681 Fifth Avenue, New York City.

Global Elements add another interesting luxury material to its repertoire, with this elegant velvet clutch.

In a wide baguette shape, this clutch is perfect for classy evenings out and sophisticated meals. The black velvet is a fabric that never fails to be soft and expensive looking, whilst the satin ribbon patterns provide a contrasting flash of gentle baby blue to add a retro tone to the purse.

Adding to the vintage feel is the decorative jeweled clasp. Personally I feel the clutch would look more elegant without the extra details, leaving the clean lines to speak for themselves, but if you like some traditional vintage bling then this is probably more your thing.

Details aside, this Global Elements evening bag is a bargain basement purse that will happily see you through the party season. The extra luxury touches are in line with the cheap price, but the looks are good enough to keep you going.

I’m more familiar with Stuart Weitzman as a designer of gorgeous shoes for special occasions, but the brand is quite established as a producer of desirable handbags as well.

This Shopaholic bag is a great example of the kind of classy style that the label puts into all of their creations. Though it is not red-carpet ready like so many other Stuart Weitzman bags, it is quite a stunning option for dressier functions.

The crocodile-pattern adds texture and visual interest to this simple handbag silhouette. Because the pattern is so eye-catching, the Shopaholic needs no extra decorative details to compete for attention. In fact, the only bit of hardware on this Stuart Weitzman is around the cutout handles on the top of the bag.

Of course, cutout handles don’t exactly offer the most practical way to carry around a handbag of this generous size. I would’ve liked to see the addition of a detachable strap for another option. However, because of the slightly formal appearance of the Shopaholic, I can’t imagine many women carrying it around as an everyday bag.
