Bulga is a brand that I mentally place in a category with labels like Treesje and Linea Pelle. Its designs are almost always appealing, high quality, and classic with some unexpected twists that take them to just a little contemporary.
Although I’d probably consider Bulga the most conservative of the three brands when it comes to edgy details, it sometimes surprises me with its take on fashion. The Cava tote epitomizes its understated modern style.
Tote bags tend to be open and roomy inside, and that’s exactly how you’d describe the Cava’s interior. I sometimes find the depth of totes to be irksome when you’re trying to get at something at the very bottom, but it’s a style that is definitely meant for transporting a good amount of stuff. More often than not, I’m wishing for more space anyway, which is something Cava doesn’t lack.
It has a unique personality, too. If you were to see it only from the back or on one side, you might find it plain or ordinary. Upon full inspection, however, this Bulga bag reveals a smattering of charm. One side of the front of the tote is covered in grommet holes of various sizes. These circular details subtly contrast with the Cava’s modern, square handle rings.
My one disappointment with this tote is that I would’ve liked to see longer handles since a short drop can make this type of bag slightly bothersome to manage. Overall, though, I’m pleased with the style and versatility of the Cava.
