This reversible handbag from The Jesse B. Collection gives you two looks in one!

Five white buttons secure the reversible cover to the frame-style bag. One side features this chic red and white houndstooth print. The other is bright red wool, perfect for the cooler weather to come this year!

The removable cover idea is an interesting take on the reversible bag trend. By reversing only the cover, rather than turning the entire bag inside out, the interior can be a functional carrying space. It’s just a shame that The Jesse B. Collection didn’t exploit that. The satiny white lining is lovely, but bound to show lipstick stains and pen marks before long. There are no pockets either. While a space of this size doesn’t really need organizational aids, a cell phone slip would have been handy.

Also impractical are those wooden handles. Again, they’re gorgeous, but despite their smooth finish they won’t be comfortable if you’re on the go. A shoulder strap may not have had the same mod appeal, but it would have been much more convenient.

This Jesse B. Collection Bermuda bag is unique, making it a real conversation starter. But I see it as more of a novelty than an everyday companion.

The mayhem of New York Fashion Weekhas begun. Perhaps the buzz is even quieter than it has been in past years thanks to a continuing fashion recession (despite Anna Wintour’s valiant efforts for revival at Fashion’s Night Out), but it’s still as interesting as ever to see what designers have been working on for the new season.

One designer getting just a bit of the buzz is Wayne Lee, Vietnam-born and fashion up-and-comer. Although I’m not at all familiar with the brand called simply Wayne, a peek at its Spring 2010 collection is more than enough to pique my interest.

Leggings, layers, and cut-out dresses were simple but impressive at the label’s big reveal. The big news, however, is that Wayne, one of a few labels adding on accessories this season, has included a collection of handbags to its line.

The leather bag collection is starting small with only five silhouettes for now including a duffle and hobo. This sneak peek at a metallic shoulder bag has me interested to see more of the new line from this unfamiliar brand.

I’m a sucker for Treesje handbags and tend to love nearly anything from the label. Although I’m used to seeing more of a contemporary edge to its styles, this Mason Cross-Body surprised me with its stylish ruggedness.

The washed Italian lambskin material gives the appearance of being worn-in through use. However, it manages to avoid the western or overly bohemian look of some weather leather bags. This is mostly due to the modern details it flaunts.

The Mason boasts three layers of leather strips wrapping around each side of the handbag. What makes them so unique is the detail. This feature stands out as the most prominent part of the bag with its bright metallic studs and buckles.

Of course, what cross-body would be complete without a super long adjustable shoulder strap. There’s nothing out of the ordinary with this one, but it’s just as practical as it should be. This tough but trendy Treesje Mason bag is priced at $368.

Chloé is one of my favorite lines. It always seems to come up with something totally unique and chic. Unfortunately, this Joy Rider tote doesn’t bear any resemblance to the Chloé I’ve come to know and love.

The puffy metallic nylon and the generally slouchy design of the bag make it look almost completely shapeless. That, in combination with the fluffy lamb keyring (which, thank God, is detachable), makes it look like an oversized child’s lunchbox.

I think this bag will mostly appeal to teenage ravers. In 1995. It’s seriously that ridiculous. But throw it together with some baggy jeans, a baby tee, and oh, I don’t know, a candy pacifier, and you basically have the perfect throwback costume.

On the plus side, it’s only $195, so if you’re super desperate for a designer bag, then this one is quite affordable. Frankly, I’m not even sure I would use it as a gym bag. If only it weren’t this ostentatious color, I think it could be salvaged as a tote, but in blue, eww.

Since I really can’t think of anything nice to say about this bag, I think I’ll quit while I’m ahead.

Tory Burch’s fall accessories are seriously blowing me away. I’ll admit that I have kind of an anti-Tory Burch bias, so that really says a lot. It’s not that I have anything against her personally; I’m just easily bored by preppy, conservative designs and obvious logos. But her new fall line offers the clean cut quality she’s known for, plus an edgy design aesthetic that is extremely appealing.

This Fringed Leather Bag is basically perfect as far as I’m concerned. Unlike so many bohemian style bags, this one is not overwhelming in its presentation. The mottled black leather is accented by a single layer of fringe on the sides and bottom. The fringe isn’t too short and isn’t too long; it’s exactly in proportion to the size of the bag and it looks fabulous.

Even the hardware on the bag is simple and understated. The iconic Tory Burch logo is hidden underneath the fringe (if you look closely, you can see it peeking through on the left side), so it doesn’t disrupt from the look. The 7″ strap drop is also just right in my opinion. It’s long enough to fit nicely over shoulder, and will sit well against the body, but it’s not so long that it will be awkward if you want to carry it by hand or in the crook of your elbow.

The genius of this bag is that it will suit a lot of looks. It’s sleek enough to add just a little rocker edge to an elegant ensemble, but it’s edgy enough that it will be perfect with your most boholicious outfit.

Samsonite’s designer collaborations are coming thick and fast. Months after announcing its Black Label collection with Viktor & Rolf, the luxury luggage brand has announced its latest collaboration with McLaren.

It might seem an unlikely pairing, but it’s not the first time we’ve seen sports car inspired bags. Last month we saw Ralph Lauren launch the Scuderia collection, a range inspired by Ferrari’s race cars. Perhaps fast cars are replacing model muses in the world of fashion?

Stuart Weitzman gives the hobo style a girly makeover with this pleated leather bag. The Ruche Hobo brings sophistication to this traditionally casual style.

The classic crescent shape and relaxed slouch is maintained, but it’s given a little more structure than usual thanks to the striking pleats. This vertical ruching is the bag’s definitive feature, and the one that gave this hobo its name. The satiny lined interior is as luxurious as we’d expect from a purse costing close to $800. Space-wise there’s a lot to offer: it’s deep and wide enough for carrying bulky novels and chunky wallets. The interior zip pocket is trimmed with metallic leather to withstand everyday use.

The honey-colored calfskin is elegant and versatile, but it’s also a little conservative. So it’s surprising to see it’s the only color option. I’d have loved a few more choices: perhaps a metallic or a deep red or violet for fall.
