Jessica Simpson’s latest purse brings a touch of the natural to an everyday tote.

Huge fancy decorations are one thing, but those bags aren’t always suitable for casual functional everyday-wear. What you really need for carrying your bits and pieces is a neutral purse with some sexy characteristics: pretty, yet useful all the way.

This tote is a great example, with some funky cut-out decoration but a practical and inoffensive look. Tan is great for coordinating with any outfit, whilst the traditional shape is easy to carry and even easier to fill. The drawstring closure is a nice touch, adding a little extra security and making the size of the bag a little more versatile.

It is a shame that a purse this useful and work-friendly isn’t actually made form the soft slouchy leather that it deserves. Instead, we are given a soft yet fake synthetic, which means I am not sure what your $118 is going towards.

This tote with its cute and girly gingham (and slightly clashing) interior is a great purse for functionality and day-wear.

These days studs aren’t simply for wearing in your ears or embellishing the leather jackets of grizzled old bikies. This season, they’re one of the hottest ways to dress up a handbag, a belt, or a killer pair of heels.

As with most fashion trends though, remember that a little goes a long way. I suggest selecting just one studded accessory as a statement piece, rather than wearing a mass of metal. I also recommend resisting the temptation to pair this trend with the current taste for python. Snakeskin and studs together can only appear overdone. Instead choose black or rich jewel tones for the coolest punk-chic look.

Fashion magazine Lucky is full of style tips and chic clothing and accessories options. Outside of the colorful pages, however, they’re collaborating with top designers for all kinds of fun shopping events.

The classic Hamilton style has been revamped with a dose of metallic gold material. It’s certainly not understated but definitely holiday-worthy and effortlessly chic. With a classic tote shape and two carrying options, there’s not much to dislike about this handbag.

This bold handbag is available to purchase on Lucky’s website, although it is currently back-ordered and not available to be shipped until after November 20. The tote will hit Michael Kors Lifestyle stores on November 15.

Inge Christopher takes the idea of mesh purses back to its medieval roots, with this wide spaced chain-link clutch.

Visually, this clutch is edgy and quite stunning. The metal is bigger and more dramatic than most mesh purses, in a stunning old-fashioned pewter metal shade. This chunky mesh is then in stark contrast to the luxury mesh strap, where the weave is much tighter and more elegant. Together they make a lovely contrast and emphasize the always luxurious materials of Inge Christopher purses.

Thankfully, you don’t have to use the handle if you don’t want to, and can use this purse as a clutch to accompany an elegant evening dress, or even to wear in contrast with biker leather and studs. Either way, this versatile purse can be delicate or bold depending upon what you wear it with.

That said, metal bags are somewhat limiting; they tend to be less comfy to carry and are a real nuisance when going though metal detectors! Even with that, however, and this purse actually has very little to complain about, from the spacious slouchy interior to the beautiful looks.

Sometimes little known handbag designers can produce a great looking purse. The quality may not be the same as legendary fashion-houses, but this reasonably priced bag can bring a dose of bold 60s goodness to your look.

In my humble opinion 60s fashion, with its funky geometric prints and bright colors, never really goes out of style. The colors may clash with some of your outfits, but print mixing is currently “cool” and this will work in this purse’s favor.

Now, whilst the checkerboard squares are great looking, this Eenamaria bag is somewhat lacking in shape. It can’t seem to decide between being thin and elegant, or chunky and spacious. Of course both have advantages, but combined it makes for a 60s clutch with a wide bottom and a narrow top, finished with a strange gold chain.

All in all this is an affordable and accessible clutch, that looks good but doesn’t necessarily carry that design through to completion.

Joy Gryson has two new babies: her six-year-old daughter Olivia Harris and the budget handbag line which shares her firstborn’s name.

Little Olivia seems like the perfect namesake for the brand given her own keen fashion sense.

“She’s really, really funny. Whenever we see someone walking in the street with one of the bags, she gets too excited,” explained the New York designer. “She loves the little charm and the tag.”

Showing you’re never too young to carry a designer purse, Olivia enjoys carrying a one-of-a-kind creation made lovingly by her mother. Her pink leopard cross-body hobo covered in hammered rivets doesn’t sound like the most tasteful creation around, but that just makes it perfect for a mini fashionista. While Olivia would love to take it to her first-grade class, her mother insists it’s for weekend use only.

While fashion fans can’t get Olivia’s beloved bag, others like it are available in the Olivia Harris collection.

“We’re all about downtown,” explained Joy Gryson. “If the Gryson girl is TriBeCa, the Olivia Harris girl is her younger, cooler, rock ’n’ roll baby sister from Brooklyn or the LES.”

The Aldo Greveinchianti may not be high-end fashion, but it’s still a real showstopper.

This frothy concoction features a host of frilly ruffles embellished with tiny perforated holes. Yes it’s over the top, but that’s the whole point. That’s why I prefer the purse is this lusty red shade rather than the more conservative white. It’s also likely to hide its age better in the years to come.

And given the quality of the synthetic, it just might last long enough for you to see that benefit. You might expect a flimsy fabric for this cheap and cheerful price, but the synthetic here is of the heavy duty variety. It’s still not as opulent as leather, but it’s not a bad substitute.

The Greveinchianti retails for an affordable $50, but you can find it discounted online for as low as $7.98. What a steal for something so fun, frivolous and fabulous! It goes without saying that it won’t suit the more reserved fashion fans out there, but it’s definitely caught my eye.

Even the simplest of handbag styles from Betsey Johnson is bound to have a quirky design feature somewhere on its exterior. I’d actually be shocked to see one without some sort of unexpected twist.

Enter the heart padlock detail on the front of the Locked In hobo. This otherwise relatively normal-looking purse is taken to a new level with an oversized and whimsical heart-shaped pendant hanging from the top flap closure. I’m not entirely certain if it is supposed to signify things being locked inside the handbag or keeping others from accessing what you’ve got, but either way the funky feature adds personality to the bag.

The Locked In collection is also available in a clutch, wallet, or satchel, but the large hobo definitely has its appeal. Although not really what I’d consider a typical hobo shape, the hint of slouchiness gives this purse a desirable casual air. With studded flap pockets on either side and a slip pocket on the front, there’s more than enough extra storage space to go around, too.

The interior of this Betsey Johnson handbag is lined in the brand’s lace-printed lining. On the outside, the heart-shaped padlock detail displays the logo in a rather simplistic way. Overall, I’m rather impressed with the Locked In large hobo and am liking it best in this pretty shade of gray.
