Zac Posen is the latest designer to step up for Target’s Go International series. The series, which focuses on young fashion up-and-comers, has featured collections from Thakoon, Erin Fetherston, Jovovich-Hawk, and Rogan in the past.

This isn’t Zac Posen’s first association with Target. In fall 2008 he designed red-carpet ready gowns, sexy dresses, and tailored pants for Target Australia. He’s also no stranger to adapting his luxurious designs to affordable collections. In spring we’ll see Zac’s budget Z Spoke line sold exclusively at Saks Fifth Avenue.

There’s no word yet on the Target range’s pricing, but previous Go collections have fetched between $15 and $150. That’s a big discount from Posen’s high-end lines, which tend to range between $900 and $12000. There’s also no word on what he’ll create for Target, but I’m hanging out for some more affordable versions of his gorgeous handbags! I guess I’ll find out if my wish is granted on April 25 when Zac Posen’s Go International collection hits most Target stores across America and Target.com.

It looks like such a simple bag, but the Dooney & Bourke Luna packs quite a punch.

The first knock-out blow comes with the color range. While in previous years Dooney & Bourke’s made the Luna in conservative white and black, the recent crop of colors is a lot more daring. Consider this bright green, hot pink, or vibrant palamino yellow. The color could easily overwhelm, but by keeping the shape simple and the accents at bay Dooney & Bourke reins the design in. If you’re looking for a purse to spice up your somber winter outfit, the Luna may just do the job.

It’s certainly up to the task, with its deceptively large size. It’s pretty big already, but if you need more room just unzip the bottom. The Luna then expands out to add an extra couple of inches. With a zippered pocket, cell phone slip, and key hook you’ll always be able to find the essentials even when the Luna is packed the capacity. The adjustable shoulder strap is another unexpected practical touch designed for comfort and convenience.

The $245 price tag is refreshingly affordable for a purse of this size and quality.

Just about any handbag giveaway is worth getting excited about, in my opinion, but the possibility of winning an Hermès Birkin bag is enough to make some women start hyperventilating.

When real snakeskin is beyond the reach of your budget, there’s always embossed leather to fill the void. Thanks to designer brands like Rafe, you can enjoy the snake print along with the quality of real leather and expert craftsmanship.

That’s where handbags like this chic Rafe Blake hobo come in. Consistent with the label’s chic and classy style, the Blake has all of the markings of a sophisticated purse with a few trend details carefully added in for good measure.

Not only is the leather material embossed with a snakeskin print, but it has also been given a metallic finish. On a synthetic leather or other manmade material, that could be a questionable combination. However, on the Blake, it turns out to be quite attractive.

The large hobo has plenty of practical space inside for storing things as well as an exterior zippered pocket for keeping a few small items close at hand. Its single leather strap has a decent drop for comfortable carrying and even appears to be detachable, though I’m not sure what the benefit to that would be since this bag would be too bulky to carry as a clutch.

Australian fashion powerhouse and Project Runway judge Jayson Brunsdon has added handbags to his repertoire. But the designer from Down Under is no accessories novice.

“I’ve done bags for the runway before but never actually produced them,” he told The Sunday Telegraph.

I’ve only spotted one of the range’s purses so far, a bold tiger print clutch with a wide black belt. I can imagine this contemporary purse looking at home with casual jeans or rocking the red carpet. I can’t wait to see more of the collection!

Jayson Brunsdon’s debut handbags line is affordably priced, with pieces starting at just $89. But don’t expect those rock bottom price tags to stick around forever.

“Going forward, we’ll be doing this all the time but we’ll also be going towards more of a $500 to $600 price tag,” he explained.

While the bags are available in outlets across Australia, international fans will need to wait and see whether they make it to stores which typically stock Jayson Brunsdon fashion lines. I’d keep an eye on my local Saks Fifth Avenue or Neiman Marcus if I were you!

It’s got a funny name, but the I Want PU Eager tote is a remarkably reserved purse from the often edgy label.

Diesel has cleverly delivered a bag which embodies the current taste for all things eighties yet satisfies conservative tastes. It doesn’t need fluorescent shades of yellow and pink to deliver the retro message. Instead the mellow cream tote features angular textured sections, bold black handle rings, and a black trimmed diagonal zip. It’s a subtle effect, so you should be able to carry this tote for longer than the current fad lasts.

The tote has enough space for daily essentials and then some, but it’s definitely not oversized. That may buck current trends, but I honestly think it’ll suit the frames of most girls better. It won’t overwhelm your body, or weigh you down. A zippered pocket and cell phone slip inside complement the pocket we saw on the front. My only complaint is that it’s a little bit narrow, so you might have to work hard to squeeze a chunky wallet or thick novel in.

$95 rarely buys real leather, but the glossy texture of this synthetic makes it look a little cheaper than most. While it might not convince discerning fashionistas, the stylish design of the I Want PU Eager tote should satisfy bargain hunters.

Bulgarian actress and model Desi Zidarova became the victim of a vicious handbag theft on Saturday night. The robbers beat the Bulgarian beauty with bats before snatching her bag as she walked home on Saturday night.

Desi is currently recovering at Pirogov Hospital, where she was treated for a cracked rib, subcostal injuries, and a lost tooth. She is in a stable condition, which is serious but not critical. Her male companion also suffered minor injuries in the attack.

Police believe the robbers simply wanted the bag, although they are exploring other motives for the attack. Desi Zidarova is well known in Europe for her modeling and acting work. She recently appeared in the television series Hotel Bulgaria.

I can only imagine how scary such a brutal attack must be. I hope she makes a speedy recovery, and that the thuggish offenders are swiftly brought to justice!

Dooney & Bourke has produced a regal and traditional purse with its Hayden clutch.

The textured leather trimmed with white/cream piping may make this Dooney & Bourke clutch a little too old-fashioned for many modern girls out there. Whilst we are used to seeing clean lines and sharp angles on our handbags these days, it is also worth beating in mind that traditional regal styling will always come back into fashion.

For girls who like a vintage look, then the fabulously kitsch decorative lion clasp will no doubt be tempt you. But it may be a bit too glittery and garish for some, especially as the clasp is oversized.

All in all, this sizable purse is a dramatic design that some will love and others will hate.
