We all know how much Carlos Falchi loves fashion’s latest leather, ostrich skin, so it is no surprise that its box clutch is clad is that very same substance.

Ostrich skin and luxury purses go together like birds of a feather (sorry I couldn’t resist!), and in this clutch it is really left to speak for itself. Subtle and simple in plain black, the only decoration is the bumpy lumps dotted all over the surface. They add some interest to stop the bag being dull, and it is nice and refreshing to have a calm bag that has avoided being over-adorned.

The bonus, although some will find this chick boring, is that this will, quite simply, never go out of fashion. It will also, in that eternal way that black has, go with almost any outfit with style and class.

I am not as much of a fan of the interior as I am of the exterior. Inside this is coated in a no doubt signature fabric in a strange paisley fuzzy monstrosity that simply doesn’t go. This is probably the least important part of this textured clutch, however, so can be overlooked. After all, telling Carlos Falchi how to design bags is like teaching your gran to suck ostrich eggs!

You would never guess at first glance that this glossy satin-like clutch from Giuseppe Zanotti is actually made out of the softest of leathers!

Of course, Giuseppe Zanotti purses are at the very high end of handbag design, and as such can afford to use the very best materials. Clocking in at a mighty $1300, using anything other than the most exquisite leather would simply not be acceptable.

The simple slightly slouchy clutch design is modernized by the panel of silver stripes adorning the front. From a distance it simply looks like slightly glittery set, but when you get close up the delicacy and intricacy of the design strikes you. It is, you see, actually constructed from strips of tiny delicate chain. Amazing!

Thankfully this elegant leather purse with its smart silver hardware doesn’t shy from being at least a little practical, as there is nothing worse than a beautiful biker-chic bag you can’t actually use! There is a single handy zip pocket inside, and the optional handle is made in matching cozy leather. I can’t say I would spend that much money on it, but this signature purse does its absolute best to go the whole nine yards.

Dolce & Gabbana is known for stepping outside the box a bit when it comes to fashion, and that’s especially true for the designer label’s trendy secondary line D&G. This Maika Pouchette from D&G fits right in with other handbags with unexpected details from the brand.

Just as the Satin Beaded Clutch surprises with its complete beaded flap and whimsical keyhole detail, the Maika Pouchette has its own version of unpredictable. In addition to the ribbed fabric body, the front flap of this envelope-style bag is covered in little, satin bows.

It almost seems like a cheeky homage to the bow-tie, though I’m not sure if Dolce & Gabbana had any intentions of conveying masculinity with the detail. The perfectly-shaped bows are placed so randomly on the flap that it almost seems haphazard, but I’m guessing that the look is supposed to be fun and fanciful instead.

For women who want a little more of an edge to the style, D&G provided an optional chunky chain strap woven with leather. It takes the look of this pouchette to a completely different place, in my opinion, but does offer another carrying option.

I loved Pattern People’s funky Karl Lagerfeld and Marc Jacobs bags released earlier this year, so I’m thrilled to see the brand release a couple of new Tribute Totes.

This time the label has set its sights on the music biz. If you haven’t yet overdosed on Michael Jackson memorabilia, you’ll love the MJ bag. It celebrates Michael at the peak of his musical career, surrounded by his trademark sparkly glove, Moonwalking shoes, and that lovable chimp Bubbles.

Is there a more fitting counterpart to the King of Pop than the similarly regal Prince? His smoldering bust is surrounded by those diamonds and pearls, doves, and a little red corvette. Or at least, it would be red if the bag wasn’t inked in Prince’s signature purple.

The styling is all 80s retro, but the eco-friendly cotton canvas finish makes these Pattern People purses decidedly modern. They’re available online from Hint Fashion Magazine for $50.

Devi Kroell’s fashion career has been on a roll for a few years now and doesn’t appear to have lost any momentum throughout a rather difficult economic period of time in the industry.

Now in addition to her two locations in New York, Devi Kroell has entered the grand shopping arena of the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The new boutique joins an impressive list of over 160 other stores including Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Valentino, and other major luxury brand names. This massive venue is a designer label-lover’s paradise, and Devi Kroell must be ecstatic to be included in the bunch.

Devi commemorated the store opening by hosting a party at her flagship location in NYC and was joined by fashion friends such as Erin Fetherston and Doo-Ri Chung.

This is exactly the kind of style I’m used to seeing from Whiting & Davis. Despite the brand’s recent divergence from their signature vintage-like look into some slightly more contemporary designs, the Plaid Mesh Flap Clutch brings things back to the somewhat expected.

That doesn’t mean that this handbag is boring or any less worth considering, though. I, for one, am a fan of Whiting & Davis’ well-known style and like the majority of the bags that the label releases whether they have modern touches or are inspired by the past.

The most striking feature of this clutch is the unique pattern that is created by careful placement of varying textures and colors of brass mesh. There’s a bit of genius to it when you take a closer look. Rounded, flat, and peaked rows of mesh come together to form the pretty plaid pattern.

While it might be typical for Whiting & Davis, this intricately-designed flap clutch is definitely one-of-a-kind in the evening bag category. Although $198 might be a little steep for a bag you’ll probably only carry a few times out of the year, the style and quality are things that won’t be worn out any time soon.

Tie-dye is, without fail, a matter of personal taste. Those who dislike it tend to find that tie-dye is a bit too obvious for them to wear, and this Sondra Roberts hobo is right up their with the most obvious of them all.

This purse is a fabulous combination of all things hippie. The blue and white beachy tie-dye is perfect for drifting around a Thai beach. The fringe is spot-on for casual floaty flower-child fashion. Of course, hippie now corresponds directly with boho, so many people who love the Mary-Kate and Ashley look will no doubt love this bag.

Interestingly, hippie fashion often used to be about the homemade or the affordable. Sondra Roberts’ take on the matter, however, is incredibly pricey at $186; more evidence we live in a very different world!

Other than the distinctive looks, there is a lot to love with this bag. Whilst the handles are a little short, this purse with its dark interior is brilliantly spacious. You can carry everything you may need for a normal day, although it probably isn’t smart enough for most formal workplaces.

Etienne Aigner has carved a reputation as the go-to brand for sensible and sophisticated handbags. They probably won’t turn any heads, but you’ll find yourself pulling them out of your closet season after season.

The Ridgedale is another example of the dependable handbags we expect from the brand. The traditional boxy shape is given a little equestrian flair with buckled belt accents and contrast stitching. The deep pleated pocket softens the look, but the saddle brown color ensures it never appears too girly. This gives the Ridgedale an everyday functionality. You could take it to any conservative office, or to a dinner date.

It’s not a massive bag by today’s standards, but there is enough space to carry the things most girls need to get through the day. The polyester lining is a little cheap, but I can’t fault the features. Two open slip pockets and a zippered pouch are more than I’d expect to keep a space of this size organized.

When you consider the timeless appeal of the Ridgedale, its $108 price tag seems much more attractive than those expensive it bags!
