Before you say it, don’t worry; I know. This functional luggage laptop case from Kenneth Cole is kind of boring. But, if you look a little deeper, you will soon realize just how practical it actually is.

Solid brown may be dull, but think of it this way; a dark shade like this will coordinate with many outfits, work for guys or gals, and will hide stains like a professional. For lugging your laptop around all day every day, you couldn’t really ask for any more. It is available in a more country and western tan shade, but I believe the deep brown is much more sensible.

Inside, this is as useful as you could hope for. Whilst there are many pretty laptop cases on the high-street, not many of them have plenty of room for books and folders too, not to mention cute little pockets for pens and cards. It all neatly clicks and slots shut, meaning that as long as you aren’t caught in a flood, the thick strong leather should protect your belongings. It is of course padded too, but you wouldn’t expect any less even with a cheap bag.

All in all this is a functional if not beautiful bag, that will work particularly well for couples who travel frequently but don’t want to shell out on a bag each.

Fontanelli brings a little intrigue to basic black with its Leather Twist Lock Bag.

The traditional doctor style design is given an elegant lift here. The central woven panel is complemented by modern pleats, which meet together in a V at the base. The combination of textures could easily overwhelm on a different purse, but the simple shape and black on black design ensures this doesn’t look too busy. Instead, it stops the basic black looking boring!

The purse is of a decent size, but it’s not as large as is fashionable at the moment. The structured shape means we won’t be able to cram in extras either, so that’s worth keeping in mind if you’re a pack-rat. On the plus side though, this delicate creature won’t overwhelm your outfit, or your body.

My only major gripe is the shoulder straps. I suppose they’re perfectly sized for this chic little number, but I can’t help wishing for a few extra inches. We all know how tiresome hand-held carrying can be if you’re spending the day on your feet.

Fontanelli bags are never cheap, but I still wouldn’t mind laying down $755 for such a timelessly elegant purse. It’s ideal for the office or an evening out, but I’d probably leave it at home when I hit the mall.

Former LeSportsac design whiz Julianne Applegate is now going it alone with the launch of her new eco-friendly handbag line.

Julianne recently launched the sustainable bags this week with a fun party in collaboration with Knox ivi. While 50 fans attended the launch, many more around the world stayed in touch with the event through social networking sites like Flickr and Twitter.

While Julianne doesn’t consider herself an internet expert, she hoped the approach would appeal to her younger customer base.

“Our general demographic is younger, but older customers like (JulieApple) as well,” she said. “I’m hoping to let Knoxville know we’re here. We are responding to the economy and our goal is present products that are fair and equitable in sustainable design.”

The newest bags use a new sustainable dye alternative known as Airdye. They’re also crafted from a yarn called Repreve which is made from 100% recycled materials.

The handbags are affordably priced between $36 and $198. You can find them at selected boutiques or online at the JulieApple store.

With a healthy dose of attitude comes the Delancey, a day bag which delivers rock star chic that the average girl can pull off.

What I like most about this purse is that Foley + Corinna keeps it simple. While many rock styled purses overdose on studs and spikes, this one reins it in. Black leather and metal hardware add just enough edge, keeping the look a little dangerous yet classic.

Like most Foley + Corinna bags though, it’s more versatile than it appears. With the handle zipped up, it resembles a hobo. But unzip those handles for some more room and a whole new look. Extended out it works like a tote, or even a travel bag if you know how to pack. I only wish there were a few more pockets. The zippered pocket in front and the one inside might be enough if you’re carrying the bag hobo style, but it doesn’t really cut it when the Delancey is at full size.

There’s more versatility with the shoulder straps too. The handle is long enough for over-the-shoulder toting, but the much longer strap is there for girls who prefer cross-body carrying.

For $450, the Delancey is a whole lot of bag for a reasonably affordable price.

Kate Spade still manages to channel bright sixties vibes in a simple single colored bag.

The quilting is the first step towards 60’s freedom and mod style. Done wrong it could look more “posh riding school” than anything fun and modern, but thankfully when combined with the bright orange shade it really works. In fact, this tote couldn’t be any further from stuffy and traditional if it tried, despite the somewhat predictable shape and familiar design.

The glossy patent adds a more enjoyable approach to this purse, which was bright enough to be pretty darn fun already! Perhaps it is the distant homage to PVC boots and a little suspension of tastes in exchange for enjoyment! The clash with the signature red Kate Spade lining increases the effect, and although only the colorfully brave will love it it will never fail to make an impression.

All in all the shape of this purse is typical, functional and ever popular. It is also silly and great; hence why I love it!

This is a gorgeous traditional bag from respected luxury designer Badgley Mischka.

Good quality patent leather always looks good, and the effect is emphasized here by the contrasting white trim. That white trim works to create that graphic sixties style pattern, with a stylized oversized button clasp and a funky art deco shape. Lookswise, this is a gorgeous satchel design that is both modern and traditional all in one bundle.

The Angela patent purse is more practical than beautiful when you look inside. The lining is a dull gray/black, but it is impressively useful, divided as it is into segments and compartments, with a zipped pocket to boot. If you want a purse that can keep you organized, this may be the right choice for you!

Whilst the handles are a little short, and an optional shoulder strap would be appreciated, this is still a attractive monochrome purse, that should keep you suited and booted for many seasons to come.

I’m not sure that velvet and animal-print are the best pairing for a handbag. However, if anyone can pull it off, it’s going to be eccentric and retro-loving Betsey Johnson.

Not one to ever shy away from bold prints and quirky details, Betsey Johnson makes quite a statement with this amusingly named Hottie Spotty tote. Although that title could certainly produce a multitude of various mental images, it is somehow completely appropriate for this dramatic and eyecatching purse.

With its fuschia and black leopard-patterned velvet, leather trim, and oversized bow on the front, this large tote bag is all about the visual impact. It’s kind of impossible not to notice it, too. I certainly wouldn’t recommend it for women who gravitate toward neutrals, but it would be perfect for those who love to stand out in a crowd.

If you find the size of the tote a little too large for your taste, don’t write off the Hottie Spotty. This velvet animal print collection also comes in a small hobo and zippered pouch. The large tote version retails for $198.

While high-end designers try to charge exorbitant prices for vintage-inspired purses, it’s refreshing to find a site like vintagebag.com. This online retailer sells genuine vintage purses from the classic ages of fashions.

You’ll find beloved brands like Sterling USA and Markay all represented here. And for once, big names don’t come with big price tags. There’s an ostrich leather satchel from British brand Fassbender priced at just $53.75, and a buffalo leather purse dating back before the Second World War priced at just $43.75. But I think my favorite is this gorgeous seashell coin purse. While Celestina sells a similar clutch for more than $1000, this one is just $33.75!

It’s just a shame that the website’s ordering process is almost as old-fashioned as its bags. Rather than simple online ordering, you need to post a check or money order to the site’s owner. Still, those low prices and unique vintage purses may be worth the hassle!

Sometimes I feel like Fendi isn’t trying anymore. Looking at the brand’s Forever Boston bag is one of those times.

It seems the label thinks it can deliver a stock standard Boston bag, slap its signature print on it, and charge like a wounded bull. And I guess since there’s just one left on Amazon, perhaps the brand still can. It’s a shame, because I think fashion fans deserve better.

It’s not that the Forever Boston bag is bad per se. I’m not a fan of the blatant advertising of signature prints, but this subtle gray and white look is more palatable than most. The image of Fendi’s Palazzo flagship store almost gets lost in these pastel shades, ensuring things never get too busy. The design also does the job, classicly cool with its gently curved shape and rolled handles.

I can’t fault the features either. There’s ample space for daytime must-haves, and the zip top closure inspires confidence. The lining is much lovelier than most with its fine textile weave, and the padlock gives extra peace of mind.

But there’s just nothing to woo me here. Fendi is supposed to be one of the leading fashion houses in the world, so why aren’t they trying to seduce me? If they continue to create lackluster purses like this, they may just lose their crown.
