The cream leather is supple and smooth, with a fabulous sheen that brings out the best in the feminine pleating detail. The shape of the bag is classic, but with modern touches like the foldover detail over the pleating and the softly gathered sides.

The New Q has an extremely sophisticated, ladylike appeal, but the bead charms on the front and zipper give it a little extra edge that will make it wearable for a more bohemian girl. The only problem I see with the bag is the shoulder strap. It looks more like a seatbelt than something that belongs hanging from a posh bag. Well, at least it’s removable.

If you want a weekend bag with some pretty feminine adornment then this Big Buddha tote should suit you.

I have to start this post by saying that personally I am not convinced by the gentle mint green metallic body. Were it matte I would probably like it more, but I feel the glossy shade makes this reasonably priced weekend bag look a little cheap. However, if you want a functional and spacious tote that is glammed up, then you may feel the exterior fabric does the job.

The flower is a nice touch. This isn’t the first large flower decoration we have seen on a Big Buddha purse, but the Sunny bag is definitely the first that has been creative enough to use mesh rather than fabric. I like the effect, and it makes an over-used design feature into something a little more space-age.

Inside this weekend bag is as sparse as you would expect for something that is really designed to just have lots of room. I would like to have more compartments, but at least this is big enough.

Designer and owner Joanna Wiseberg was inspired to create Red Scarf after struggling to find a fashionable bag to carry her tall riding boots.

Red Scarf bags are crafted from water repellent nylon, durable polyester, high-quality vinyl, and Italian eco leather. This eco-friendly skin is naturally vegetable tanned, hand washed, and shaped by master craftsmen. Three out of four collections are made in Canada to reduce the brand’s carbon footprint, and every bag is shipped in a recycled box.

I love a label that combines practical designs, good looks, and an eco-friendly ethos. Whether you’re a horse rider or not, there’s probably a bag to catch your eye from Red Scarf.

Is it any wonder why this Franchi purse is called the Mina Disco? With its dotted metallic leather body, it looks like it could have been a disco ball in a former life!

I’d definitely take this shimmery purse back to the discotheque. It looks like it was born to be on the dance floor, complementing your glitzy party dress as you boogie with your gal pals. Although the chain strap won’t be very comfortable on your shoulder, you’ll be glad for the hands-free carrying option when you’re busting a move. If you want to use it as a traditional clutch, this chain simply tucks away.

The Mina is just as small as its name. If you’re the kind of girl who wants to take her entire cosmetics kit out to ensure her face always looks fresh, this probably isn’t the evening purse for you. But if you can get by on the bare essentials, this will do nicely.

The original $200 price tag leaves me a bit cold, as this purse seems like a fairly casual evening clutch rather than a red carpet stunner. However, with it discounted by more than half on Amazon, I’m willing to consider it!

Bodhi are luxury designers who produce absurdly expensive bags that have real character, and if you are going to spend $588 on a clutch then you might as well buy something which stands out from the crowd!

This particular bag is built in a very unusual semicircular shape. Whilst obviously terrible if you want to stand up your handbag, I actually find the shape a joy to look at, as it breaks away from the collection of boring square handbags that have been littering the fashion houses. Add to this shape a thick bright red patent trim and it was pretty much a forgone conclusion that I would really like the way that this looks!

Of course, soft leather and the shape aren’t the only noticeable aspects of this in-your-face purse. There is of course the geometric graphic pattern, which divides the bag and makes it look great! It may make some people a little dizzy (especially in combo with the patterned lining), but I personally like the way the lines and red work together.

With just the right level of luxury impracticality, this Bodhi clutch is one bag that dares to be different.

Hmm, what better way to end the week than with a cat covered handbag!

Don’t worry, I am not talking about a handbag made out of cat skin. Instead, I mean a surprisingly upbeat duffel bag from Tianni, a brand who is usually quite staid and formal with its handbag design. Of course, you can’t really get much further away from formal than by painting your canvas bag in sunbathing cats, so if the brand was trying to appear more lighthearted then it has probably achieved it!

Despite all the reasons, I actually don’t hate this bag. I know I ought to, but there is something tongue in cheek and funny about the decoration, which even extends to the handles. And,when it comes down to it, this is a functional bag that has been given a dramatic twist, and I have to give Tianni kudos for that!

Unconventional and incredibly affordable, this $36 cat duffel from Tianni is undeniably fun!
