Gucci is celebrating its history with the Artisan Corner tour.

Gucci’s most skilled artisans will travel to selected Gucci stores around the world, where they will be stationed at custom-built workshops. Gucci customers can watch these craftsmen assemble the brand’s most iconic bags right before their eyes.

The Artisan Corner will include work tables, a sewing machine, a leather stand, and various tools used to create Gucci’s famed leather goods.

“Customers will be able to see craftsman as they hand-stitch handles, assemble bamboo
tassels, prepare leather strips for woven stitching and hand emboss customer’s initials, offering a unique viewing of Gucci’s time honored traditions,” Gucci announced.

A video documentary charting the history of Gucci and its creations will play behind the modern-day Gucci workers. Its hoped that the history lesson will foster a more intimate relationship between customers and Gucci and its products.

The Artisan Corner will tour the United States later this month. It will visit San Francisco’s Stockton Street store on April 19, Beverly Hills on April 22, Chicago on April 26, and Manhattan’s 5th Avenue flagship store on April 29.

Doodled hearts and stars give the wristlet a whimsical air. The print reminded me of the kind of design I might have drawn on my schoolbooks as a kid, and I love the childish innocence it brings. Yes the print is busy, but without it this simply-shaped wristlet would very dull indeed.

That simplistic design is mimicked inside. There is fabric lining, and a keyring too, but essentially this is a bare basics interior. That’s not necessarily a criticism though, as such as small space doesn’t need much to stay organized.

Belgian brand Kipling has joined forces with Spanish label El Delgado Buil for a new capsule collection. It follows Kipling’s successful collaboration with Cathy Pill last season.

The new Majorettes line features six feminine handbags embellished with a gentle hair print pattern. The print is like tie-dye but much subtler, especially with the chosen pastel color palette.

“It’s as if we took all our best hits and put them together: the idea of the hair print is something that we truly like and have used in past collections. Same with the fringing,” explained El Delgado Buil designers Anna and Macarena. “As for the strings and the hearts they make reference to the ultrafeminine woman that we shall present in Majorettes.“

Kipling fans will be pleased to see the brand’s famous monkey keyring has also not been forgotten. The limited edition line is currently available at Kipling boutiques and the label’s online store.

Some handbag label’s do beading and diamante decoration well, whilst others tend to go over the top and end up looking tasteless. This black satin purse is one of the few that manages to look really good.

The reason for the success is the clean monochrome color palette: all silvers and whites and blacks. I prefer it this way; you have the black background and the glitzy decoration, and nothing else. Lots of bags are over-compensating nowadays, and it is nice to have an evening purse that doesn’t.

Although Santi handbags aren’t bargains, they are the sort of designs that last for many seasons and many years. This diamante clutch, for example, is unlikely to ever really go out of fashion, as black evening dresses never go out of style. For your $198 you also get a reasonable level of function, lots of space and an optional handle. It is just a shame the handle is chain, although that is personal preference!

Although you always face the risk with gem studded purses of the decoration falling off, I think this is one of the smartest bling encrusted bags on the market.
