It might have a classic style, but this tote bucks the trends by opting for a large up and down weave rather than a more tightly knit diagonal one. I love this point of difference, which allows us to appreciate the way each individual strip of leather winds and weaves about to create this lush texture. The look is enhanced by the choice of high quality light brown leather. It might be a conservative color choice, but its universal appeal is undeniable.

The luxury continues inside with a plush suede lining. This fabric may not feel as sexy in years to come, but at least the leather trimmed pockets should stay practical. This is a large tote, but those pockets come to the rescue to make it feel manageable.

My only gripe is that the gorgeous texture isn’t continued on the back of the bag. While I have come to accept this treatment from budget handbags, when a purse retails for $758 I don’t expect any corners to be cut.

French leather goods label Longchamp has again teamed up with frequent collaborator Jeremy Scott for this cheeky canvas bag.

The handbag is a tribute to the New York designer himself, with the body bearing badges printed with Jeremy Scott’s name and likeness. It shows the sort of arrogance usually reserved for the Karl Lagerfelds of the world, yet somehow Jeremy Scott gets away with this tongue-in-cheek approach.

The not so modest canvas bag in Longchamp’s popular Pliage shape is paired with brown leather handles. The print has a certain narcissistic charm, but its execution isn’t really revving my engine. Perhaps I’m too busy enjoying the pale colors and vivid prints of summer, but this bag seems a little … well … dull.

Perhaps I’ll feel more enthusiastic as the cooler weather approaches. This Jeremy Scott bag is part of Longchamp’s fall collection after all. If you love the designer as much as he seems to you can pick this limited edition bag up this fall for €179.

This Jack Georges briefcase is traditionally styled, but its high quality materials help to set it apart. It gets its name from the soft vegetable tanned belting leather it’s made from. The skin is incredibly luxurious, and while the brown and tan colors won’t set the world alight they are perfect for conservative office environments.

As with any good briefcase though, this bag’s beauty is more than skin deep. It’s all about practicality, with a padded compartment for your laptop, an easy organizer for small bits and pieces, and external pockets for the items you need on hand. A three-digit combination lock keeps your stuff safe while you’re away from your desk, while the steel reinforced frame will help this Briefbag survive the nine-to-five grind.

This is a large bag though, so the short handle is a bit of a disappointing. While this won’t matter if you drive to work, commuters may struggle to carry this Jack Georges bag into the city. An additional cross-body strap would have made managing it that much easier.

The price is another sticking point; at $625 this is a briefcase for corporate high flyers rather than aspiring interns.

Lady Gaga is at it again; defacing Hermes Birkin bags that is! Not two months after she was spotted carrying a white Hermes Birkin with some hand-drawn Japanese character, she was snapped carrying an edgy black studded version!

No one’s really sure whether Lady Gaga ordered this one or did the job herself, but I’d vote for the latter. The studs are not at any regular intervals as I’d expect from Hermes. But this free-form hardware looks a bit more professional than the Magic Marker covered bag, and a bit more painful!

These are some heavy duty studs; the spiky sort that could prove dangerous in a crowd! It’s an interesting take on the current studded trend, and one that I actually love. I’d never have the courage to try such a gutsy amount of self-customization, so I can’t help applauding Lady Gaga’s daring.

And at the end of the day it gets us talking, which is what real fashion is all about!

We’ve drooled over J. Tiras’ pretty clutch purses, and now we see what the designer can do with a shoulder bag. The Beverly is a great option for girls who prefer a hands-free accessory when they’re hitting the town.

The simple boxy shape is jazzed up with thousands of tiny, sparkling crystals. The glittering gems complement the gleaming metallic body, but what a shame there aren’t more of them. The back is painfully bare, so make sure you check which side you’re carrying before you step out!

It might be a shoulder bag, but it doesn’t afford us any more space than a clutch would. It seems like a bit of a missed opportunity at first, although I suppose evening accessories should be more delicate than their daytime equivalent. It’s a shame though that we don’t have a little more room for our evening essentials!

At $300 the Beverly is a little steep if you plan on carrying it after five. But if you’ve got the confidence to add this sparkling accessory to your daytime wardrobe, it might be worth the price.

J. Renee shows us that a dramatic purse need not cost the earth with the Fleur clutch.

For less than $100 you can enjoy this striking clutch. It’s not surprising that this price doesn’t buy genuine leather, but the manmade material makes a pretty convincing patent alternative. The glossy black body is offset by a head-turning scalloped flap. There’s a lot going on here, with fiery colors, scrolling patent appliqués, and snakeskin texture, but strangely it works. I love the volcanic look of this orange shade, but if it’s not for you consider the Fleur in pink or brown.

This structured clutch isn’t very big, but it should be able to handle most of your party must-haves. The last thing this small purse needs is another thing to clutter it, so J. Renee has made its strap attachable. While most clutches makes us suffer with harsh metal chains, the Fleur’s strap is made from a more comfortable synthetic. Just don’t carry anything too heavy inside; the strap is so skinny any weight could see it cutting into your skin.

The Fleur would help to lift your favorite little black dress, or a pair of dark skinny jeans.
