Bourne has gone totally over the top with this jeweled Tatiana clutch.

OK, so this particular glitzy evening bag isn’t quite to my personal tastes. The jewels look randomly stuck on, and I would prefer them if they were more symmetrical. Add to that a bright lime satin fabric and a thick encrusting of diamante around each gem and you have something totally ridiculous.

However, whilst I think it is a bit silly, other people may like the style. There is, after all, something a little different about the design and layout; it undeniably transforms a simple clutch into some other than average. Plus, at least it does have a handle, so it isn’t quite as impractical as it looks.

A tapestry bag is one style that will never fully go out of fashion, and with the selection of gorgeous denim and grungy looks on the High Street at the moment it will be even cooler than normal.

This Lucky Brand shopper is one such example of a traditional tapestry bag that manages to work well with the current trends. Rather than opting for boring and outdated dark embroidery, the label has instead used bright primary colors that give the tote a Nordic vibe. To avoid over-brightness, the colors are toned down by the muted nude background and the soft tan leather straps.

I can see this being paired with an oversized denim shirt, brown waist belt and some funky gladiator heels. Maybe throw in some flower applique for good measure! It is, quite clearly, a fashionable item, and to have that in combination with room and function is a rare thing indeed. Of course, it may be a little feminine and twee for some, but for me this is an ideal creation.

Lucky Brand shows its sensitive side with the Hightime Tote.

While the label’s handbags ordinarily suit women who steer clear of girly embellishments, the Hightime is one which embraces its femininity. The embroidered floral design has a gorgeous vintage appeal. It’s disappointing then that Lucky Brand has kept the back perfectly plain. I’d love to see the flowers extending around the tote, even if it saw the price of the purse rise.

The canvas body is complemented by matching leather shoulder straps. These too are pretty, with delicate studs and stitching making them more than just a functional detail.

The Hightime is generously sized without being ungainly. There are three pockets inside: a spacious zippered pouch and two open slips for gadgets. Each is trimmed with leather to help them withstand regular use.

The old world meets the new with this stylish Luba J Vivienne handbag.

The tumbled leather has a beautifully aged appearance which contradicts its years. While the bag itself looks modern, the washed gray leather appears as if it knows a few secrets. British fashion house Mulberry is the latest high-end designer to announce a diffusion handbag line for Target.

Details are scant at this point, although with Emma Hill, the designer behind the brand’s popular Alexa bag, involved in the project our hopes are high.

“At this stage we aren’t able to offer more details on the collection although we can confirm the collaboration is definitely going ahead,” a Mulberry spokesperson told Vogue.

Mulberry is no stranger to diffusion products. You might remember its limited edition Bayswater released for Gap’s RED charity range a few years ago. But by choosing their projects carefully, Mulberry has ensured it doesn’t cheapen its designer cred.

The Mulberry for Target purses will be rolled out in American stores and online from October 10, and will be sold until December 24 or until stocks last. It sounds like these bags would make perfect Christmas presents for our gal pals!

I do love a good bit of pretty! I love it even more when it costs just $24.99!

Don’t we all love something beautiful and Art Nouveau? Yup, I thought so. There is just something about the beautiful watercolor shades and the strong black stained glass lines that makes it utterly attractive to look at. Plus, butterflies are considered by many to be gorgeous, and apparently symbolize metamorphosis and personal growth. So stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

Pretty exteriors aside, I have to admit that maybe there isn’t much else that is remarkable about this tote by Galleria. It is, after all, just your bog standard everyday bag, with an added twist in the decoration.

It is fun and springlike, but the actual design isn’t revolutionary. Do you care though?

The Round-trip Skipper bag may not be super-stylish, but that doesn’t mean it is unattractive. It has a funky retro circular pattern, and I think that makes it quite eye-catching. No doubt the lime will be a little bright for some, but there are always other colors if that is the case.

Functional and affordable at just $25, I could see this becoming a holiday staple.

With a name like the Wembley, it’s no surprise that this plaid satchel is a thoroughly proper British lass.

This isn’t a satchel that takes a lot of risks, but that makes it an elegant choice for those who prefer a more classic fashion look. There’s a definite British air about its olive colored plaid body, especially when paired with its tan leather trim. It’s typical satchel shape doesn’t break the rules, but it makes sure this purse offers plenty of storage space.

The dimensions are incredibly generous, so I would have appreciated more than a single zippered pocket inside. I’m more enthusiastic about those exterior pockets, which provide a space for those items we remember just as we’re heading out the door. The handles are too short for over-the-shoulder carrying, but they’re so sturdy that carrying the Wembley shouldn’t be too tough.

The Wembley is an obvious choice for a carry-on bag, but I think it’d also find a place in any office. That versatility and timeless appeal makes the Wembley’s $100 recommended price seem like excellent value.
