Eco-fashion label Issi teams up with prominent artists to create stylish fashion accessories from fabrics destined for landfill. The brand’s latest line sees Issi team up with artists including Lothar Gotz, Paul Morrison, and Olivier Millagou for accessories made from decommissioned British fire hoses.

The durable fire hose material is the star here, but it’s complemented by reclaimed leather, decommissioned parachute silk, and tea sacks. The eco-friendly ethos continues inside too, as each bag is lined with reclaimed fabric.

Issi gives a percentage of its profits from every bag collection to relevant charities. For the latest line the fashion label will donated 50% of its profits to The Fire Fighters’ Charity. The organization helps retired and serving fire fighters suffering physical, psychological, and emotional trauma.

No doubt these bags will appeal to distinguished gents, as they hearken back to the days when the well-heeled would carry luggage sporting their monogram or emblem. While they might impress, they’re also a lot pricier than your average Father’s Day gift!

What we have here is a classic metal mesh handbag from Whiting and Davis.

The shape has been done before. That classic and traditional frame with its kiss lock closure leading to a soft and flexible body made from that signature metal mesh is nothing new. Even the interior is traditional, in signature satin with a simple formal slip pocket.

However, the design breaks away from the Whiting & Davis mold with the pattern. The geometric Greek key pattern, studded out in Swarovski crystals, brings a little flair and creativity to the simple design. It takes it from being a boring bag through to being an evening clutch that is actually quite pretty!

This pretty purse isn’t revolutionary, but the black and crystal exterior is bound to work for many posh events.

Yves Saint Laurent is one of those lines that almost never gets anything wrong, no matter what style approach it takes. Which isn’t to say that YSL has no defined style, it does; it brings it’s own chic French flair to the trends in a delightfully unique way. The Downtown tote brings a high level of sophistication to what could easily become an urban staple.

There are a lot of unusual things about this bag. First of all, the shape is an off-kilter hexagon, which I haven’t really seen much of. I think it’s really successful from the usually rectangular tote, and it immediately gives the Downtown bag a personality of its own.

Secondly, the glazed patent leather material has a semi-gloss sheen that makes it very versatile. The cracked and weathered effect on the leather is subtle, but noticeable. The result is a bag that looks completely unfussy and eye-catching without being ultra-gloss.

The pleated front patch pocket is useful and it’s also a great design detail. The accordion pleating brings attention to the unusual shape of the bag. The side straps and buckles are really not functional, and while I think they look okay, the bag could do without them. They add an edgy touch that I’m not sure the Downtown bag really needs.

We have seen the Audrey clutch, with its functional and simple design, and now we are introduced to the wallet version.

I have to admit that I prefer the wallet. The clutch looks boring, whereas the wallet looks cute yet serious. This isn’t a cutesy purse or teeny little bag, but an actual wallet in the most traditional sense of the word. It is nice to see one that manages to look smart, but which is formal and work appropriate at the same time, which I put down to the attractive stitching and smooth leather exterior.

Functionally, this purse does what you would expect. You get plenty of interior slots for bills and cards, plus a zipped section for your loose change. I am impressed by the little slip pocket that has been added to the back, as I can see this being particularly useful for business cards.

With a certain formal look and business like attire, this is the serious wallet that you will use every day.

This Menbur Rosette Clutch is as pretty as a present!

This purse really does look like a gift with its classic box shape and proud rosette accent. This pretty adornment is studded with tiny blue gems. They match the satin blue body and the rosette itself, but I think they’re a bit unnecessary. They just seem to clutter up a feature which was already eye-catching.

The clasp opens to reveal a satiny lined interior which is small, but serviceable. It requires careful packing, as too many items will see the clasp pop open, but you can probably fit the bare essentials inside without too much trouble. The serpentine chain unfortunately clutters this already small space, but I’m still thankful that we have it. By opting for a smooth surface, rather than the traditional link chain, Menbur also protects our shoulders.

At just $54, Menbur’s Rosette Clutch is an affordable way to add style to our favorite evening ensemble.
