Sometimes the simplest of accessories can be the most chic. In a world of over-adorned purses, the clean lines of this Coco clutch from Ananas really stand out.

This is one of the most simply designed purses I’ve ever seen. There are no tricks here; just a simply shaped pouch with a zipper along the top. The luxury washed Italian lambskin is only accented by a single wooden O-ring. This makes the zipper a little easier to pull, but its appeal is mostly an aesthetic one.

After seeing such a simple exterior, the basic interior shouldn’t have taken me by surprise. It did though; this isn’t the largest purse around but I’d have appreciated a zippered pocket for loose change and other tiny bits and pieces. To have all of my items all jumbled up together just doesn’t sound very appealing.

The Coco is a lovely looking thing, but it’s up to you whether that makes it worth the $98 retail value. Personally I think that’s a bit pricy for such a simple design, no matter how lovely it’s materials.

Just when I thought we’d seen eco-friendly bags made out of every possible material another one enters the mix. Believe it or not, this stylish briefcase is made from reclaimed conveyor belts.

This is part of the Kazmok Re-use collection from industrial product designer Dinand Stufkens. The range also features laptop sleeves and belts.

“The conveyor belts are given a second life as a bag, and each bag is unique due to the wears and scars of the conveyor belts,” Stufkens explained. “A bag with a previous life is a bag with a story.“

The conveyor belts used in the Kazmok Re-use accessories are sourced from the flower and recycling industries, and the European postal service. The fabrics are thick and strong, but also surprisingly stylish with colors ranging from classic black to this funky bottle green. Eco-friendly handbags can tend to look a bit gimmicky, but you’d barely know these ones are made from reclaimed fabrics.

The prices are quite reasonable, with Kazmok Re-use bags starting from €39 and ranging up to €199. They’re available online from the Kazmok website.

Are you in the mood for a little kitsch? Then feast your eyes upon this Elvis Tri-Color Clutch from Ashley M.

We’ve always relied on this brand for quirky pop culture themed purses, but this might be the most gimmicky yet. Strangely though, that doesn’t put me off. Ashley M doesn’t take itself so seriously, so why should we? Instead I embrace the multi-colored stripes which extend out like the sun’s rays from Elvis’ handsome face. The pyramid studs which dot the synthetic are probably too much, but again I don’t really mind!

The chunky chain strap gives the clutch the necessary amount of rock and roll cred. I’m not sure how comfortable that metal will feel against your shoulder though. I’d prefer to use the wrist strap, with its playful Elvis motif. Again, a serious fashion fan could consider this accent the final style straw, but I think it only adds to the clutch’s kitschy charm.

This is a reasonably sized clutch purse, but it’s also quite a simple one. There’s a lone zippered pocket inside, which should truthfully be enough to keep this space organized. The Elvis Presley signature lining is another fun touch guaranteed to appeal to The King’s loyal fans.

If you’re not one of these rock and roll devotees, I’m sure this purse won’t change your mind. But if Elvis’ pelvis sent you into a spin, you’d probably love to carry this cute clutch.

Everything old is new again for Givenchy this fall. The French fashion brand has revamped its beloved Nightingale satchel and Pandora messenger for the new season.

Four new colors have been introduced for the Nightingale; you can now get it in classic navy blue and black, along with the more unexpected shades of dark purple and lilac. The Pandora’s updates come from two new materials; you’ll find it in a smooth shiny leather and a lush textured skin. Both are available in a range of conservative colors to suit girls who love classic looks.

I’m a bit torn on the new, but not so new, Givenchy bags. On one hand I would have liked to see the label serve up something fresh and fabulous. But then again, why stray too far from perfection? Both the Pandora and Nightingale have already been big sellers for Givenchy, and these new models are sure to follow suit.

These new releasese may not have been the most adventurous business decisions from the Givenchy, but they’re probably smart ones.

Big Buddha gives the patchwork bag a fun, feminine makeover with this Hibiscus Tote.

Rather than traditional square patches, this tote features floral shaped swatches. The petals and pollen of these white blooms is created with complementary white thread. I like the way these flowers are subtly rendered, and the way they contrast with the bold metallic flecked brown canvas. This color combination is not as common as black and white, but it’s every inch as stylish.

This is a generous tote, with enough space for your summer essentials and then some. The pockets are trimmed in synthetic, and the interior lined in durable plainweave fabric, so this space should hold up to everyday use. I’m satisfied with the room inside, but I’ll never complain about extra side pockets. They don’t close, so I wouldn’t put anything of value inside them, but they should suit a tube of gloss or a cheap pair of sunglasses.

At $90, this is a reasonably priced way to inject a little flirty fun into your summer wardrobe.

Donna Karan’s diffusion line, DKNY, has been bring trends to the masses for decades. Women love Karan’s casually chic design sensibility, and thrifty fashion mavens love the lower prices of the DKNY line. This shopper is a high quality leather alternative to the leather totes of pricier lines.

The pebbled red leather is eye-catching and durable. This is one bag that will take you from the office to the market to the gym, and look at home in all environments. The traditional shopper shape and lack of over-embellishment make it extremely versatile stylistically, as well. You can carry this with khaki shorts and sandals or wear it with heels and a suit. Either way, it will be right at home.

The size is generous enough to carry a whole slew of paperwork or a bounty of fresh veggies, whichever you choose. The only problem I see with the bag is the way the sides flop out. The rest of the bag is supper structured. These flexible sides will give you more room, but they also look a little sloppy, which is in contrast to the minimalist design.

Also, I’m not sure that the turn-lock fastening on the top is sufficient for a bag of its size. If you’re just using it for veggies or papers, fine. But if you want to keep your wallet or any valuables inside, you might want something a little more secure. At $295, this shopper is affordable and versatile, but not as well designed as I would like.

Proving that simple can be oh so chic is this Heiress Ensemble Clutch from Buxton.

Something tells me this purse might be a bit too simple for the Paris Hiltons of the world, but I’m enamored with the sleek design and soft taupe color of this Heiress purse. This shade really shows off the natural texture of the luxury leather, a skin which I wouldn’t expect for a clutch costing just $40. Nude shades like this are right on trend at the moment, but if you’d prefer to be a bit different don’t worry; there are seven colors to choose from including daring pink and bright red hues.

Lift up the flap tab and you’ll find a clutch which is packed with features. It’s not a large purse, so it’s amazing to see how much Buxton has packed inside here. There’s an ID window, six credit cards slots, a removable checkbook holder, and plenty of pockets. It’s a little disappointing to see this checkbook slip isn’t made of leather as the rest of the purse is, but I suppose Buxton had to cut some corners somewhere to keep the price down. It certainly didn’t skimp on the features after all!

This isn’t the clutch for girls who want to take all their daytime essentials out on the town, but if you can survive with coins and cards this is an affordable and classic purse. And if you do need a bit more to get by, why not use it as a wallet?

Miu Miu is taking Italy by storm with the opening of its latest store in Porto Cervo. The newest boutique in the North Sardinian seaside resort follows recent store openings in Bologna and Forte dei Marmi.

No store opening would be complete without some exclusive fashion items, and Miu Miu gives us a double dose here.

The first is a head-turning pair of shoes which seems like the love child of some work boots and casual clogs. It’s an unusual mix, and one that probably shouldn’t work, but under the skillful hands of Miuccia Prada it somehow does.

I’m less convinced by the Miu Miu Porto Cervo handbag, with its bunched tucking and frayed fringe. I suppose the fashion house was shooting for summer casual here, but it just looks a bit slovenly to me.

Savanna brings all the style of the Middle East to our evening wardrobe with this delicate evening bag.

The purse’s stunning looks come from the crepe satin which forms its body. Dainty natural pleats create texture and drama in this soft golden material. You’d never call this evening bag large, but it is bigger than most evening accessories. Those satin walls are soft enough to squeeze in a few extra party essentials too, so don’t be afraid to overstuff this baby. It’ll only add an attractive volume to the crepe finish.

This purse is more Eastern bazaar than High Street, but if you want to stand out at your next soiree this purse is an affordable way to do it.
