Inge Christopher claims to take its inspiration from the Far East for this Mumbai minaudiere. But this luxe purse with its chic styling seems like it’d be much more at home in an urban environment.

Rather than deliver a traditional beaded minaudiere, Inge Christopher takes a pared back approach. Its finish is cool leather with an exotic snakeskin print. This is a convincing mimic which doesn’t make us long for authentic snakeskin. I love the way this glowing golden hue brings out the mottled pattern, but it’s also available in more conservative black or white tones if you’d prefer.

It is a small purse though, and while its structured oval shape looks good no matter how much is stashed inside it does limit storage space. If you struggle to leave home without the kitchen sink, this may not be the evening purse for you.

If you can travel light though, you’ll be rewarded with this pretty purse. Its looks are timeless, and its smooth leather will feel wonderful in the palm of your hand. If you need to go hands-free though, just pull out the long chain strap. This serpentine strap is detachable too, so it need not clutter up the already small interior.

It may be petite, but the Mumbai offers a lot for its $148 price tag.

British insurance firm Insurance4everyone has introduced a new policy designed with bagistas in mind. The initiative offers customers up to £2500 worth of cover for handbags and their contents.

That level of insurance will barely make a dent if you own a Birkin of course, but it should help out most bag enthusiasts. While most insurance policies require you to prove the value of your purse and its contents, which is never easy after it’s been pinched, Insurance4everyone makes the claiming process easy. If you take it out as a stand-alone policy, you also won’t need to worry about losing the no-claim discounts on your home cover. It might not make up for losing that favorite purse, but it should ease some of the post-theft stress.

On the down side though, this handbag cover is relatively expensive. The minimum premium costs £5.05 a month for a mere £800 worth of cover. You’ll need to spend £19.99 each month to enjoy the maximum pay out.

This kind of insurance cover is probably worth considering if you regularly tote Italian designer arm candy, but I’m not sure it’s so vital for the average bag lover.

Joe’s Jeans dresses up the traditional messenger bag with the ever-so-chic Samantha.

What sets this messenger apart is its clever styling. The traditional flap design can look a little sloppy, so Joe’s Jeans opts instead for a sunken zipper. Its traditionally toned pebble leather finish is made a bit more exciting with wicker looking stitching.

Unfortunately though, this stitching isn’t continued on the back of the bag. The deep seams and small metal logo plate we find there are nice enough, but I wish the design was more unified.

The Samantha is a sizable messenger but its slender design makes it appear quite sophisticated. This gives us the best of both worlds; a stylish appearance and space for all the essentials.

At $129 the Samantha seems like a steal for a real leather messenger, but it seems the brand has cut a few corners. Customers have complained about poor quality zippers and other small flaws. It seems like that old saying about getting what you paid for might hold true here.

Tinsley Mortimer has launched her latest collection for Japanese handbag brand Samantha Thavasa. The New York socialite celebrated the launch of her fifth collection for the label with a party at Samantha Thavasa’s Madison Avenue store.

Tinsley’s fall collection for Samantha Thavasa offers a flirty, feminine take on the retro 80s trend. Tinsley herself is a product of the 80s, and clearly embraces the decade’s music. Nostalgia buffs will love the musical accessory names like Guns N Roses, Metallica, and Poison. The glam rock influences are obvious in the designs too, with laser cut leather and acid-wash like tie-dyed finishes. But Tinsley hasn’t forgotten the girly style she’s famous for. I particularly like the corset-style lacing which evokes sexy lingerie. I’m not sure about all the designs, but there are some really interesting pieces in this collection.

Tinsley Mortimer’s latest collection for Samantha Thavasa will be available soon at the brand’s only American store in New York and its other outlets around the globe.

Juicy Couture offers a fun, feminine alternative to traditional computer bags with this pretty in pink Electronics Laptop Case.

The style is signature Juicy Couture, although its execution is a little more subdued than we’re used to. There isn’t a lot of hardware or frills, but the pale pink velour and bold Juicy logo definitely point to its heritage. These Juicy Couture trademarks are offset by dusty pink leather trim and handles.

Those handles are much shorter than I’d like for commuting, so it’s great to see Juicy has also thrown in a wide cross-body strap. This is easily removable, so you can stuff it inside the case once you’re at work for a sleeker look.

There’s more than enough space inside for the strap and everything else you need to get through your work day. I would have appreciated more padding to keep my laptop safe, but I can’t fault the divided interior and all those pockets.

This is a tamer bag than many of Juicy Couture’s accessories, but it still won’t suit every workplace. Even in the more conservative black shade, I’m not sure it’s the right choice for the boardroom. If you work in a creative environment though, this cute laptop case may be the office bag for you.

Philip Lim’s quirky brand of minimalism has won him fans for years. This awesome studded Edie handbag is a little more blingy than your average 3.1 fare, but I really dig the direction it’s headed in.

The gray color of the bag is what really wins me over. It also comes in black, but the gray brings a softness to the look that is really appealing. The Edie has a squarish, sporty shape, but the soft leather makes it look a little more slouchy and casual.

The giant, stud-embellished bow that covers most of the front of the bag is a little bit girly and a lot rock-n-roll. I love the way the gunmetal studs are crowded onto the bow. It adds a lot of subtle sparkle to the bag, and makes it look both edgy and on-trend.

The double shoulder strap has a thick studded panel at the top, which will keep the Edie comfortable on your shoulder. Plus, the addition of studs to the strap make it look even more dangerously sophisticated.

At $695, the Edie is reasonably-priced for a high-end designer bag. You just won’t find this combination of high style and quality for less.
