I’ve been very impressed with Emma Watson’s grown-up campaigns for British fashion brand Burberry. So I was surprised to hear that the young Harry Potter actress has been dumped for the label’s next ad campaign.

The news comes as a shock to fashion fans and pop culture watchers alike, as her ads were so well received.

“Emma was a huge success. Everyone expected her to be used again,” a source told The Sun newspaper in Britain.

The industry is buzzing with rumors that Emma will be replaced with Victoria’s Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. I think Emma is fantastic, especially now that she’s just revealed a chic cropped elfin do, but there’s no doubting that Rosie’s star is on the rise. She scored the high profile gig replacing Megan Fox in the next Transformers flick, and now it seems she’s ready to unseat another box office heavyweight.

I found Emma’s presence in the Burberry ads like a breath of fresh air. I guess I’ll have to wait and see whether Rosie, or some other hot young thing, can impress me as much!

The tote’s walls are also kitted out with smaller pockets for valuables and gadgets, and don’t forget about those outside end pockets! We’re certainly not left wanting for storage space here!

At $198 American West offers a reasonably priced and practical purse for girls who can stomach its distinctive homespun style.

A complex handbag like this can somewhat justify its $298 price tag. Evening wear too can kind of explain why Santi feels that it can charge so much for this designer clutch.

That complexity is quite impressive. You see, that silver and black looking texture is actually made from row upon row of teeny tiny pewter pleats. They look, to the untrained eye, like rows of beads, but actually they are so much funkier than that! This probably explains why we have to pay so much to be able to wear it with our long black evening gowns; not only is it an innovative design, but it is intricate too.

The actual structure of this Santi purse is quite simple. It is in a long barrel shape, with a pale fabric (somewhat at risk of staining, me thinks) and a medium length basic chain strap. There isn’t really anything remarkable, although at least it has a reasonable amount of room and practicality.

This textured evening bag is a clever way to mix up a formal outfit.

I was initially struck by the bold contrast of black leather and red snakeskin accents on this Bijou purse. But it’s the practical design of this Alexis Hudson shoulder bag that really stole my heart.

You wouldn’t know it at first glance, but this is actually four different handbags in one. Carry it as it comes and you’ve got a spacious shoulder bag with a generous front pocket. Remove that pocket and it becomes an evening clutch. Add one of the chain straps to it, and it’s a small baguette bag or a cross-body purse. I’ve seen many convertible bags in my time, but few that offer this many options. It’s also rare to see a handbag like this with such clever aesthetics; no matter what mode it’s in the design is clean, as if it was made to be carried in that way.

That versatility helps to justify the rather hefty $895 price tag. That’s a lot more than Alexis Hudson tends to charge, but few of the fashion label’s bags do so much.

The striking black and snakeskin accented look isn’t for everybody, but I love its fire. If you’d prefer something more subtle though, consider the Bijou in icy vanilla . Just make sure you handle it with care if you want that white leather looking its best!

Ivanka Trump has given us our first look at her soon to be released handbag line, and I must say that I’m impressed.

The purses feature clean, sophisticated lines and luxurious exotic looking skins. They’re feminine without being fussy, and on trend without being faddish. I seem to be gushing, but I’m enamored by all the images I’ve seen so far. Of course the reality heiress has put her best foot forward by releasing pics of the best designs, but I can’t imagine the rest of the line would contain any real missteps. I’m also impressed by the diversity of this range; with satchels, totes, small purses, and clutches it seems Ivanka has us covered for day and night.

She promised us affordable prices and Ivanka’s delivered on that score too. Despite those luxury looks, these bags are priced between $75 and $175. Look for them in high-end retail stores like Nordstrom, Lord and Taylor, and Macy’s from February.

I’m not sure whether Alexander Wang was inspired by the boundary-pushing pop star when he created his Cher Siamese Clutch, but just like the singer this is a purse which breaks all the rules.

With its large dimensions and striking design, the Cher Siamese is a clutch which is impossible to ignore. A shiny mirrored leather and suede compartment is angled over the top of a soft black leather pouch. Both of these sections serve as separate pockets which should make organizing your items a bit easier. Having said that though, I’m not sure how user-friendly their orientation is. It might be worth struggling a little to carry a purse so striking though!

And struggle we probably will. It’s impossible to downplay just how large this clutch is. The lack of shoulder strap makes it feel even bigger, especially once it’s loaded up. It’s disappointing that while Alexander Wang delivers so much space inside this clutch, we can’t easily make the most of it. Given that, I’d have to think long and hard about spending $780 on this clutch.

The Cher is also available in a leopard print design, which is an interesting contrast to this shiny disco style mirrored one. Both are glitzy options, but I think this one looks much classier.

Louis Vuitton fans should start saving their pennies, or more correctly their pounds. On September 28, the famed Christie’s auction house in London will auction off a massive selection of Louis Vuitton travel bags as part of its Interiors: Style & Spirit sale.

The auction features more than 20 pieces of vintage luggage which date from the 1940s way back to the late 19th century. Suitcases, hat boxes, small trunks, and vanity cases are amongst the luxury travel items available. Many proudly tell the stories of their jet-setting heritage, with vintage travel labels, hand-painted monograms, and customized stripes all adding individual character.

The exchange rate is good at that moment, although the prices which are estimated to range from £400 to £6000 (the equivalent of $9000 US!) will still be too rich for most bagistas. If you’re lucky enough to have that kind of cash lying about though, happy bidding!

Anya Hindmarch is on a roll as far as clutches are concerned. Her toned-down, feminine glam style is really coming through on all her designs this season. This Valorie clutch is a great example of Hindmarch at her best.

The simple fold-over design of this clutch is classic and elegant. Honestly, it reminds me of the clutch my favorite Barbie carried, and that makes it that much cooler to me. The reason why it looks so familiar to this child of the 80s is that its shape and material make it look totally disco.

The pleated gold satin has an amazing sparkle to it, but isn’t overpowering, like so many sparkly bags. The pleating on the Valorie gives it a fabulous texture and dimension. It’s a little bit flashy, sure, but still totally elegant and streamlined.

The small size is convenient for evening wear. It isn’t that practical in terms of volume, but it doesn’t really need to be. This just isn’t the kind of bag that you bring when you need an arsenal of supplies. It’s the kind of clutch you carry on the red carpet or with expensive jeans to art openings.

The design of the Valorie is spot on and the price isn’t bad, either. At $440, it certainly isn’t cheap, but it’s on the low end of designer evening accessories. Hindmarch has really made a winner this time.
