Rebecca Minkoff is giving Polyvore.com members the chance to play handbag designer with her new competition.

Rebecca is encouraging fashionistas to give her famous Morning After bag a makeover. You won’t have total control, as you’ll need to use the elements available to you on Polyvore.com, but you can choose your own leather, zips, tassels, and lining. Then you’ll use photographs and text to explain what inspired your creative vision.

Rebecca will choose her ten favorite finalists before handing voting over to Polyvore members. The fun really starts if you’re chosen as the eventual winner. Your bag will become part of Rebecca Minkoff’s fall collection, and you will travel to the Big Apple to see it debut at New York Fashion Week. And once you’ve designed one bag for the label, who knows what the future holds?

You’ll need to put your skates on though as entries close on November 29.

Goodness there’s a lot going on with this Prezzo vintage clutch!

The label has shown very little restraint with this tribal inspired purse. Herringbone printed fabric, croc-embossed material, and swatches of fur peek out from behind all those beads, sequins, and jewels. It’s a lot to take in, and I’m not convinced that it works. However at least we can never accuse it of being boring!

On a more practical level, I can’t imagine this purse would feel very comfortable to carry by hand. All those beads and bits are going to dig into your palm, like it or not! We do have the choice of a short or long strap, but we all know how those chains feel against bare shoulders. It may be the lesser of two evils though!

And then there are the obvious limitations that come with carrying a clutch so small. Its slim design is made for carrying the barest of essentials, so I hope you know how to travel light!

This clutch has its drawbacks, but its price isn’t one of them. At $54, it makes a definitive style statement without breaking the bank. I only wish I knew what it was trying to say!

Anya Hindmarch has signed on as the non-executive director of the British Fashion Council. She takes over the role from Hilary Riva, the former director of Rubicon, who stepped down late last month.

The British Fashion Council is responsible for organizing London Fashion Week, managing the British Fashion Awards, and overseeing the next generation of Brit fashion designers at the Colleges Council.

I can see Anya excelling in this role as she clearly knows plenty about the fashion industry. After all, she started her own bag business at the tender age of 19 and she’s currently got 54 stores around the globe under her belt.

It seems that the British Fashion Council is similarly enthusiastic to have her on board.

“Anya will make a great addition to our team,” confirmed the council’s chairman, Harold Tillman. “She brings with her huge experience from both the design and retail sector and will be invaluable as we move towards with our future plans.“

I’m really looking forward to seeing what Anya does with the role. How do you think she’ll perform at her new post?

Carlos Falchi started his career as a designer making leather outfits for rock stars. He made costumes for the likes of Mick Jagger, Miles Davis, and even Elvis Presley. Lucky for us, sometime in the early 70s, he turned his focus to designing handbags and never looked back. Because he no longer makes a clothing line, many people overlook his name, but as a handbag designer he is unparalleled. This python hobo is a great example of his luxurious, but refined approach to design.

The brown python skin on this bag has been dyed, but all the organic nuances of the material are retained. In case you want a flashier look, the bag is also available in red.

This isn’t your average hobo. It’s more square than hobos traditionally are, and more structured, as well. The front pocket is a great design touch, and also a practical one that will give you easy access to your keys.

This is a seriously chic bag, but one with a little bit of extra panache. At $2,395, it’s not exactly cheap, but you could pay far more for a bag of this quality. But, why pay more when this one’s so fabulous?

Yves Saint Laurent has been defining French fashion for decades. You can seldom get chicer than the line’s elegant, feminine designs. This leopard print Roady hobo is an iconic piece with a flair for the dramatic.

Calf hair isn’t one of my favorite materials, but in this leopard print, it makes sense. In fact, it looks perfect, as though it were actually leopard fur instead of just printed. The Roady is available in both this brown on gold traditional leopard print and also a black and white version. Both are glamorous, and beautiful.

This Roady hobo is definitely no slouch. It’s casual, but structured, with none of the messy over-slouchiness of so many hobos. The sleek tubular handle adds to its high class appeal, and makes the Roady a little more formal. There are no huge logos to muddy up the surface of the bag, either, just discrete embossing on the handle hardware. The Roady strikes a pitch perfect balance between dramatic and sleek.

The Roady is a significant investment at $2,995, but one that a lot of eager YSL fans will readily make.

The MAC clutch isn’t the first in this style that we have seen from Rebecca Minkoff, but it is certainly the first to deliver the shape in such starkly contrasting shades.

Those contrasting colors, in my opinion, are what turns this leather clutch from something pretty into something special. I can just envision it being worn in a whole host of super-stylish outfits, paired with skinny jeans, perhaps, or teamed with a buttery soft cream leather coat. It is, to sum up, a handbag that is easy to wear, whilst at the same time looking classy and sophisticated.

Of course,the relative simplicity of this dramatic bag means there isn’t necessarily quite as much to write about. The picture tends to speak for itself. I will, however, point out the long and useful handle, which although chain is actually still quite smart. You will probably need this, as the bag is quite large for a clutch otherwise. Oh, and I have to draw attention to the lining, which is the most divine navy and black polka-dot fabric. Yum!

This is yet another smart addition from Rebecca Minkoff.

Summer may be well and truly over, but that’s no reason to pack away all your beach bags. The classic monochrome color scheme of this Roxy Sumatra makes it suitable for toting all year round.

There are a couple of Sumatras to choose from. My favorite is this Tarmac bag, with its modern floral print. I love the way its black blooms help to make the gray jersey fabric a bit more feminine. If you prefer something simpler look to the Vanilla Ice bag, a striped white tote with a large black Roxy logo.

I love the use of jersey, which makes the tote lightweight and comfortable to carry. It’s also got more give in it than leather, so overstuffing it is practically invited. Considering its size I can imagine it making a perfect beach bag during summer, but its collection of interior pockets suit carrying small items as well. This helps the Sumatra work as an everyday bag, rather than one specifically for carrying big, bulky items.

There’s a lot to like, not least of which is the price. At just $36 this tote is cheap and cheerful.

French footwear brand Heschung is now offering more accessories for men. The label recently launched a collection of man bags in conjunction with handbag designer Vincent du Sartel.

The label is starting small with just three styles available: a shopping tote, a messenger, and some Boston bags. The Boston PM Vegetal is made from vegetable-tanned calf leather, just like the tote and messenger.

At €850 this Boston is the most expensive in the range. If you’d prefer something more affordable, there’s the Boston PM Trapper made from a slightly oily calf leather (€650) and the nylon canvas Boston PM Toile (€540). Each one is lined in luxurious cotton gabardine.

The bags fit right in with Heschung’s current collection as Sartel looked to the label’s ski shoes for inspiration.

“I went through their archives and studied the stitching and fabrication of the shoes so I could infuse a similar quality in my bags,” he told Relaxnews.

He was also the one who approached Heschung about creating the line of man bags.

“I love the savoir-faire and artisan quality of the Heschung brand. My own personal design ethos revolves around craftsmanship and I like working with brands with a long history of tradition.“

The Vincent du Sartel for Heschung man bags are available now through the Henschung website.

What a fun bag this Core Graphics satchel from Puma is. What it lacks in opulence, it makes up for with personality.

There’s such a lovely squishiness about its nylon body. Sure it’s not luxurious, but remember what this bag is for. Nobody wants to stink up a leather bag with their sticky sneakers and sweats. The nylon is durable and quite pretty in this fruity honeysuckle pink shade. Look closely and you’ll see tiny orange diamonds scattered across the material. I love the pop of this lurid hue, but if it’s too girly for you there’s always the monochrome alternative.

This is an enormous satchel, so you’ll have no problems carrying everything you need for a work out inside. There’s a large zippered pocket inside the gray nylon lined interior, and another in the front for good measure.

Considering its size and casual style, I think this Puma bag is a steal at just $42.
