With Christmas just around the corner most of us are starting to gather gifts for the holiday season. And if you’re like me, I’m sure there’s a handbag lover or two on your list. If your budget doesn’t allow you to splash out on a new designer purse for your bestie, these tasty handbag themed goodies may be just the ticket.

Neiman Marcus is selling cute handbag-shaped cookie jars for $35. They’re available in red and white leopard prints. I think the designs would be a bit busy for carrying around, but for storing sweet treats they’re ideal!

Of course, every cookie jar needs cookies, and there are a couple of bakers who’ve created just the thing. Eleni’s sells a set of 18 handbag sugar cookies modeled on our favorite It bags. I’ve had so much fun picking my favorites out of the set. They’re all created in a nut-free bakery too, so you needn’t worry about any allergies!

If you’d prefer more creative control, look to the handbag cookies from Beau-coup. They have many different styles to choose from, including clutches and totes in your choice of colors and even monograms. The small cookies cost $3.95 while the larger ones are $5.95. It can get a bit expensive with minimum orders starting at 24 cookies, but if you’re buying for several people that initial outlay might be worthwhile.

Bisadora get back to basics with this elegant Bohemian sling bag.
The name is a little confusing as there are none of the tassels or flower power prints we associate with boho fashion. However the soft suede does give this sling bag a hint of hippie style.

This soft material is rendered in a beautiful silvery gray shade. It’s not a hue I’d ordinarily associate with bohemian style, but it does give this simple sling a sophisticated feel. With its minimalist design and hint of sparkle, I think you could get away with carrying this bag out to dinner or to a club.

While the front is perfectly plain, a zippered pocket runs down the full width of the back. This pocket will sit closely against your body for extra security. There’s another zippered pocket inside, and a practical black lining made from rip-stop nylon.

You’ll need to keep this sling bag away from grime and grit if you want the suede to last. But at least at $85, it won’t cost too much to replace once the material wears.

When I think of red carpets, Valentino is the designer that comes to mind. When I think of Italian fashion, Valentino is the designer that comes to mind. Valentino’s understated elegance has made him into an icon, and his line into a fashion powerhouse. This Aphrodite tote is a great example of Valentino’s style at its best.

The ultra-smooth nude leather on the Aphrodite is totally of-the-moment, and yet, still classic. The subtle front pleating gives the tote a soft, feminine look, and the giant bow embellishment is ladylike without looking girlish. I’ve always found Ellington’s designs a bit hit and miss, but the label’s gotten things right with the Eva shoulder bag.

I am in love with the Italian lambskin finish in steely gun metal gray. It feels amazing, but don’t let its buttery softness fool you. This material is tough as nails, the kind of skin that will stack up to daily use without breaking a sweat. With feet to protect its platform base, you can sit it down knowing it’ll stay safe.

Considering the quality of the skin, I’m glad Ellington hasn’t tried too hard to distract us from it. The minimalist design is modern, yet it won’t date as bags which follow the trends might. That makes the price tag of $149 seem even more alluring.

This is the kind of bag I can imagine reaching for as I step out time and time again, so I’m glad to see it’s got the features to match that function. Despite its slim silhouette there’s space to spare, and the pockets are trimmed in more leather to help them survive daily punishment.

It might not turn the number of heads that a more trend conscious bag would, but the Eva knows how to impress without bowing to fads.

Jennifer Lopez is a modern style icon. If you’ve followed her fashions over the years you’ll probably want to wear apparel and accessories she’s designed for Kohl’s. The American retailer will sell lifestyle brands dreamed up by J-Lo and her hubby Marc Anthony.

Lopez’s collection will focus on what women want. Think handbags, dresses, jewelry, sleepwear, and shoes. Anthony is taking care of the men with sportswear, dress shirts, sports coats, and business ties amongst the offerings. This is just the start of their Kohl’s empire though; homewares may be next on the agenda.

The couple said the Kohl’s collections “will definitely represent who we are.” I suppose that means we can expect plenty of glamour, and a bit of Latin flair.

Look out for the Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony products in Kohl’s stores next fall. The deal is said to generate $3 million in profits for Kohl’s but I’m just not sure whether the world needs another pair of celebrity designers. Are you excited about the collections?

The looks are very cutting edge, with a funky silhouette and modern vertical zip pockets in the front. The unusual orientation of these pockets makes them a bit difficult to use, but their contemporary style might make you overlook that. After all, we’ve got a couple more pockets inside anyway.

I really like the festive feel of this brick red Emily, but there’s plenty more where that came from. In fact this shopper is available in a whopping six shades, so there’s bound to be one to suit you.

When I heard that Gretchen Rossi, better known as one of the Real Housewives of OC, was creating a handbag line I was dubious of her design credentials. It seemed more like another grab for fame rather than a serious attempt at a career in fashion. But when I spotted the handbags from her collection I quickly changed my tune.

The Gretchen Christine Collection by Lust4Luxe features stylish leather handbags with modern hardware and on-trend colors. They’re also practical, with a compartmentalized area for storing cosmetics hidden underneath an interior flap. The original run of bags sold out in just four days when they appeared exclusively on Shop NBC, but thankfully we can all get a piece of the action through Gretchen Rossi’s personal website.

Rossi might carry expensive European designers on the reality TV show, but recessionistas will be pleasantly surprised by the prices of her own collection. The accessories start from just $149, and the most expensive piece is only $349.

“I remember in particular this one designer handbag that everyone loved from Versace that was close to $3,000. When I told my fans where the bag was from I got a lot of responses disappointed because they could never afford it,” she explained to Starpulse.com. “This is when I realized all woman want high fashion without having to break the bank for it.“

While the collection only has handbags at the moment, Rossi says that eventually it “will be a collaboration of all things a woman would want find in her closet, from shoes, to scarves, hats, accessories, clothes, dresses, etc.!” For now though, you can buy the Gretchen Christine Collection by Lust4Luxe from Gretchen Rossi’s website and Shop NBC.

While so many designers pander to passing trends, Etienne Aigner remains true to the classics. This Hyde Park satchel might not push the fashion envelope, but its structured good looks will stand the test of time.

If you’ve been wowed by the vintage fashions of the drama series Mad Men, this Hyde Park bag will be right up your alley. I can just imagine Peggy carrying this ladylike satchel to the offices of Sterling Cooper. It might not suit modern career girls as it’s not big enough to accommodate most laptops, but that wouldn’t have worried Miss Olsen!

While it’s not made with technology in mind, I could definitely use it as an everyday handbag. The four slide pockets should be all it takes to keep me organized, and I love the combination of security and style the classic turn-lock brings. The long attachable strap is another practical perk we wouldn’t see on an authentic vintage design.

Given its high quality leather and timeless appearance, the Hyde Park satchel is well priced at $179.

Michael Kors has never been one of my favorite designers, but this season’s MICHAEL accessories have been, for the most part, totally on point. This python print leather wallet would make a fabulous addition to your winter wardrobe at a very reasonable price.

Michael Kors has a real knack for faux snakeskin. It looks remarkably like the real thing, minus the exotic price tag. It gives this wallet sort of an edgy look. Since it will stay in your bag most of the time, you can hide this little piece of your wild side if need be.

The standard zip around shape allows the fabulousness of the snakeprint to take center stage. The overall look is, however, a little muddied by the prominent logo plate. Fortunately, that’s a forgivably small drawback. The interior has three pockets. One is zippered, and the other two have plenty of room for cash and cards.

At $120, you really can’t do better for such an exotic looking accessory.

Miu Miu’s line of Matelasse bags is one of my favorites of the season. Their undulating quilted design plays into the quilted leather trend that we’ve been seeing the past few seasons, but in a totally unique way. This Matelasse wallet is beautiful addition to the line, and a practical one, at that.

The black leather on this wallet is so smooth that it almost looks synthetic, which is perfect for the Matelasse quilting. The curvy, zig-zag pattern shows off the sheen of the material in a subtle, luxurious way.

The softly rounded shape of this wallet works well with the Matelasse pattern as well. The rounded corners mimic the curvy lines. I don’t really like the Miu Miu logo on front, as it disrupts the continuity of the pattern, but it’s not too large or ostentatious.

The interior of the Matelasse wallet includes a zippered coin compartment, and two patch pockets with credit card slots. For $430, this wallet will add some extra style to the interior of your handbag.
