In a world of over-embellished evening bags, the simplicity of Menbur’s Narya clutch shines through.

It’s a classic purse in so many ways, made of softly pleated satin with an elegant frame. But the smattering of crystals against the rich red material makes it something special. It’s playful and pretty, and utterly timeless. Just imagine how cute it’d look against your favorite little black dress!

The Narya is well sized for a clutch. It’s certainly not over-sized, but it is a bit larger than the average. The clasp will pop if you try to over-stuff it, but the soft satiny walls should allow you to fit a few small extras inside.

The chain shoulder strap will come in handy once the evening wears on, but I wish it were detachable. The last thing I want is something else cluttering the interior. At least we have a shoulder strap though, so I won’t complain too loudly.

At $114, this pretty purse is a relatively affordable way to make an average evening ensemble outstanding.

Romygold has relaunched with a new logo, new website, and some sexy new bags.

“We wanted to create a new look that matches our edginess and sophistication of our bags,” designer Lisa Goldstein explained.

It’s unusual for a fashion house to rebrand itself so soon after its inception. The label only appeared at Bergdorf Goodman last spring, so it certainly hasn’t gone stale. Fergie, Kim Kardashian, and Whitney Port were spotted rocking the Romygold handbags, and fashion mags like Lucky and InStyle wrote stories about the Biker Slash bag pictured.

Rebranding might be risky, but I do like the label’s rebellious looking crop of bags. All those studs, slits, and metal plates will probably date quickly, but they’ll make a dramatic statement while they’re in fashion.

And at least the prices are reasonable. With bags starting from $275 and topping $700, it’s not such a stretch to replace them when a new batch comes along.

If the cute daisy cut-outs on the tiny Blossom Messenger just weren’t enough, then let me introduce you to the Rococo satchel. This handbag features the same all-over embellishment on a much larger scale.

These sweet little daisies are my favorite Mellow World finish. All too often its faux leather accessories appear just as cheap as their price tags, but the ones with this unique floral finish escape appear much richer. The subtle effect of the tan leather against the natural ramie background is right on trend, but if you’d prefer something with more pop, look for the Rococo in white and green.

Whichever one you choose, you’re not likely to be disappointed. Mellow World has always delivered on a practical front, and this everyday satchel is no exception. The interior is enormous, but with pockets for cell phones, sunglasses, and valuables we don’t feel too overwhelmed. The dual handles are long enough for comfortable everyday carrying, but if you’re making use of all that space you’ll probably want to attach the longer strap.

Mellow World gives us an awful lot of value for our $79.95 here. The flowery finish makes the Rococo ideal for spring, but I think you’ll get a lot of use from it all year round.

Tory Burch has opened her first store in the United Kingdom’s heart of fashion, London.

The American designer has converted a 19th century townhouse in New Bond Street into her first London boutique. Gold leaf mirrors and moss green floors should make this stylish space feel a bit more fab.

The Tory Burch store opened in grand style with an A-List cocktail party. Actresses Thandie Newton, Joely Richardson, and artist Sally Albermarle were all in attendance for the event, which included a private dinner at nearby Hakkasan.

It’s surprising that it’s taken Tory Burch so long to open a London boutique, as she has fond memories of many trips to the Old Dart.

“My favorite is when I brought my boys here for the first time year ago,” she told Vogue. “We had an incredible tour guide, a history buff who knew about all of England’s greatest battles. To the delight of my sons, he pointed out bullet holes in all the buildings!“

Just like the starlet that shares its name, Melie Bianco’s Miley handbag is a little bit country, and a little bit rock and roll.

The Miley gets its western feel from long braided tassels hanging from the side of the bag. But just like Ms Cyrus, the Miley isn’t a country bumpkin. Golden chains run down the front of the bag, popping against the leatherette for just the right amount of edge.

I knew this was faux leather before I even spotted the affordable $89.95 price tag. Its slouchy profile doesn’t fall as softly as real leather would, and its sheen seems cheaper than any authentic skin. But I like the weathered texture on the finish, so I’m not too disappointed by Melie Bianco’s design decision.

I also like the Miley’s practical styling. Such a large shoulder bag calls for some serious reinforcements, and Melie Bianco delivers. There’s a plethora of pockets inside, and a long, cross-body strap ready for busy days out.

I’m sure Miley Cyrus’s fans will love the warm undertones of this purple bag, but it’s not our only option. The grape purple has a cooler hue, while black and gray are classic choices.

Jimmy Choo, Jimmy Choo, Jimmy Choo. All you really have to do is say the name and immediately it calls up images of dressed to the nines cosmopolitan women. This new version of the tube clutch is a great example of why.

There’s something muted about the color palette used on this leopard print. The pale beige background would ordinarily provide a lot of contrasts for such a dark print, but the pattern itself has been blurred so the effect isn’t so intense. The great thing about this is that you get the look of leopard, but without the in-your-face drama that sometimes goes along with it.

The classic shape of the tube is one I always love. It’s sleek and rounded off at the same time, and the tiny geometric clasp doesn’t take away from the design in the tiniest way. In fact, I’d say that it adds a little hard-edged contrast that ups the sophistication level.

Let’s be honest. This is not the most practical clutch. It won’t hold that much, and the shape makes it difficult to carry oddly-shaped items. Plus, it’s $1,295, which is no small investment. But it’s just so terribly chic that if I had the cash, I’d definitely count it out.

All hail the god that is Bally!

There is something magical about what Bally does with leather. Even the simplest handbag shapes, like this Maada hobo, are turned into something gosh darned gorgeous, thanks to the soft, supple and perfect leather. Without any over-the-top additions, the chestnut calfskin is left to speak for itself, and it does so in a way that really emphasizes the sophistication and luxury of the design.

If you are a label addict who likes people to know what brands she is wearing, Bally will be too subtle for you; especially when it charges $895 for the privilege. If, however, you are more bothered about making a solid investment in a handbag that will never go out of fashion, then this slouchy tote will more than meet the mark.

Expensive, yes. But, for handbag addicts, Bally is the dream purchase, and the Maada is a great choice.

Tortoiseshell style but without the dead tortoises? What’s not to love?!

Menbur have taken the idea of a retro tortoiseshell handle, and updated it for our modern times. The frame is bold and beautiful, coordinating beautifully with the peachy satin in that glistening metallic texture. The modern touch comes in the pleated fabric, adding interest to an otherwise plain body, and in the cute but useless cut out style clasp of the frame itself.

Whilst the looks are gorgeous, what about the practical issues? Well, actually, this Menbur clutch does quite well, getting high marks on plenty of issues. There is lots of space, for example, and they provide a long chain strap should you feel the need. The only real drawback, if I am honest, is that the colours may be hard to wear with the current fashion trends, but problem is easily surmountable!

Priced at just  $38, this framed evening bag looks like it should cost a lot more!

McKlein USA helps you add a bit of color to your nine to five with this Oak Grove laptop tote.

Most designers don’t offer a briefcase in a shade more daring than red, so I’m thrilled to see the rainbow of colors the Oak Grove comes in. This orange one has captured by heart, but it’s also available in pretty pale pink, apple green, and pastel aqua blue. Traditionalists aren’t forgotten either, with a rich red shade and basic black.

The vivid colored leather might draw you in, but it’s the features that make this a great work bag. You can keep your files in the front pocket, and your office accessories in the back one. The main compartment has an organizer for pens, business cards, and small gadgets, and there’s another zippered pocket for more valuables.

And of course there’s a laptop sleeve, but this one gives a bit more than the average. It’s detachable, so you can use it separately for board meetings or business trips.

This is a fairly expensive business bag, as it’s priced at $285, but its quality and features help to justify that cost.

It seems Kelly Rutherford may have picked up a thing or two while playing the fashionable Lily van der Woodsen. The Gossip Girl actress is preparing to launch her own handbag collection through home shopping network QVC.

Rutherford hasn’t over-extended herself here; there are just five bags in the range including clutch purses, totes, and a satchel. But the actress says she thinks her screen alter-ego would approve, commenting that “Lily would own the bags in every color. They are priced so well, why not? Plus, they go with everything.”

Thankfully though, you don’t have to be part of New York’s high society to own one.

“I designed the bags for the chic working mom as well as the sophisticated urban girl on-the-go,” Rutherford assured fashion fans.

And Rutherford’s purses are priced for those working moms too; they’ll cost between $130 and $199. Look for them on QVC from February 25.
