Tod’s brings a little modern flair to its typical classic aesthetic with this Clou Shopping Tote.

The black leather base is tried and true, but Tod’s adds a few unique touches which help to separate this tote from the pack. The studs are the most obvious piece of ingenuity. These kinds of metal accents have been a constant on the fashion landscape for the last few seasons, and I think Tod’s has used them well here. The key is restraint; rather than going overboard there are just a handful of the studs beneath the straps.

The rounded off corners make the Clou seem a little more relaxed, without undermining its sophistication. No one wants to be completely buttoned up on a shopping spree, so the slouch and unique silhouette it gives are more welcome touches.

This is a minimalist tote though, so if you love pockets for everything you carry you’ll be disappointed. There’s only a single zippered pocket in here, a feature which has to work twice as hard in a tote this size. While Tod’s has forgotten about organization, practicality isn’t abandoned altogether. I’m thankful for the metal feet which protect the black leather base.

$1665 isn’t exorbitant for a high-end designer accessory, but it is pricy for a black leather tote. With so many similar bags on the market, I think this one is strictly for Tod’s fans.

Mighty by name and mighty by nature; meet the Mighty Totes and Wallet from Dynomighty.

Timmy Woods has really gone all out with this Luscious cross-body bag.

The designer’s turned to her favorite acacia wood to create her pouty lips purse, but figured it needed more glamour. And does anything say glamour like Swarovski crystals? Woods has covered this cross-body in hundreds of the faceted gem, upping the wow factor and the price at the same time.

That price, a whopping $2240 is pretty difficult to swallow. Ordinarily we can pick up a Timmy Woods purse for a few hundred dollars, so this is a real jump. The presence of Swarovski crystals certainly makes it worth more, but that much more? The jury’s still out there. And even if it is worth that amount, would you willingly spend it?

I’m in two minds about this. This purse is loads of fun, and pretty to boot. It doesn’t afford us a lot of storage space, but I could probably live with that. I’m just not sure I can stomach its black rope strap, as it really cheapens the Luscious’ appearance, a real no-no at this price point.

It’s also more than a little derivative of the designs of the original lips lover, Ms Lulu Guinness. Is that lack of originality a deal breaker for you?

Tignanello has looked to the wilds of Africa for inspiration with this cross-body Safari bag.

The purse gets its name from the leather’s embossed finish, which resembles crocodile scales. We’ve all seen this kind of texture before, but I’m a bit torn about the effect here. The scales are very large, too large to appear realistic. But they are well rendered, and they add some interest to an otherwise fairly ordinary purse. Perhaps we just need to adjust our expectations a little. As a crocodile impersonator the Safari lets us down, but as a purse with an interesting finish it’s a success.

This cross-body is made for girls who love a place for everything, and everything in its place. We have two zippered pockets on the front and another on the back, and that’s all before we even open it up! There are more pockets inside, which are trimmed with leather to survive daily use.

The long strap allows us to sling this purse across our body and get on with our day. I appreciate its length, but I wish it was wider. That Skinny Minnie strap is bound to drag down on your shoulder when the Safari’s loaded up. Traveling lightly should alleviate some of the pressure, but do you really want a bag that’s space isn’t usable?

At least Tignanello got the price right. The $109 retail value is just what I’d expect to pay for a leather bag of this quality, even if it does have a few design flaws.

They say that it’s not easy being green, but this relaxed Hanna hobo from Tianni makes it look a breeze!

The Hanna has such a casual look about it that I can’t help anticipating taking it to picnics and the beach once the weather warms. The thick canvas body would certainly be up to the challenge, and the pea green color is perfect for the season ahead. I’ve never seen green paired with metallic silver before, and I’m not entirely sold on the combination. But it does help to dress the Hanna up a bit, and a little extra glitz can never truly be a bad thing.

The Hanna is a good size for all those outings I have planned. It’s not enormous, but it’s capable of handling more than we’d need on an average day out. The zip and slip pockets will keep smaller items organized, while the snap closure makes sure everything stays safe.

It’s not the most luxurious or fashion forward bag, but when you buy a Hanna you’re getting exactly what you pay for. At $73 this fun Tianni hobo is priced to sell.

We’ve all admired expensive handbags, but none quite like the 1001 Nights Diamond Purse from the House of Mouawad. The jewel encrusted clutch, which is valued at $3.8 million, was recently named the world’s most expensive by Guinness World Records.

When you realize what’s in the handbag you begin to realize why it’s so pricy. The purse is made from 18 karat gold studded with 4517 diamonds. In all there are 105 yellow stones, 56 pink ones, and a whopping 4356 colorless jewels. This clutch is certainly no lightweight; it weighs an impressive 381.92 karats. Ten artisans worked on the clutch for around 8800 hours, under the watchful eye of designer Robert Mouawad.

The 1001 Nights Diamond Purse isn’t the House of Mouawad’s first record breaker. You might remember the fashion house worked with Victoria’s Secret to create the $11 million Very Sexy Fantasy Bra in 2003. Clearly these guys know a thing or two about extravagance!

House of Mouawad Purses on eBay

Style and versatility come together with ease in this Pax cross-body from The SAK.

The purse is made from sumptuously soft leather, which slouches in all the right places. Its weathered texture makes it appear relaxed and worn in, like a favorite pair of shoes. Vertical stitching adds some personality to the Pax’s simple shape. I really like this coral-red shade called cayenne, but there are six more hues if it hasn’t won you over. You may want to avoid the paler tones though, as some customers complain that they discolor quickly.

What really sells the Pax is its convertible design. As pictured here, it’s a fold-over clutch. But you can attach the shoulder strap to carry it in a couple more ways. There are two sets of rings at the top, and another two half-way down. You can attach the strap to any of these links to carry the bag folded over or extended. The strap is also adjustable too, which allows the Pax to move from shoulder bag to cross-body.

Even when unfolded the Pax isn’t very large, but I think it should hold most things we really need on a day out, and it’ll do it without weighing you down. That everyday appeal, coupled with the $89 price tag, makes this Pax bag a very attractive proposition.

Kate Moss continues her collaboration with French fashion house Longchamp this season as designer and model of the Faraway line.

Moss worked with Longchamp’s creative director Sophie Delafontaine on the bags, which were designed with the model’s own wishlist in mind. Just like most of us, she said she wanted accessories that were spacious, lightweight, durable, comfortable to carry, and high quality.

Moss isn’t just adding her name to the bags either, as Delafontaine explained.

“I don’t think people imagine how involved Kate is or how much thought she gives the details,” she recently said. “She’s involved in every decision.“

The Faraway collection features 12 bags spread across three purposed lines: Chic, On the Road, and Exotic. I love the on-trend neutral colors Moss has employed in this season’s range, and the timeless styling. The bags are unmistakably Longchamp, but they’ve got more of a classic appeal than I typically associate with the brand.

Honestly, I think it could be Longchamp’s best collection yet. Are you as enthusiastic about Kate’s new Longchamp line?

Give an envelope clutch some attitude with the Charlie from BCBGeneration.

The shape of this synthetic leather purse is simple. A big flap and thin body mean it resembles that eponymous envelope quite accurately, although you would be unlikely to find one in an exotic snakeskin print down at your local stationers! The difference is added by the silver metal trim. Not only does it look smart, but it also adds a little more strength to the design.

Whilst the contrast between black and silver may make this a stylish purse, it is a shame that we don’t get to feel real leather when we carry it around. Costing $78, you could expect the genuine article, so it is a bit of a let down to have a fake alternative.

The fact that the designers have opted out of the more expensive version of materials is more apparent when we look inside this purse. The BCBG monogrammed interior is a little shiny, although the inclusion of a pocket does redeem it a bit.

The Charlie is pretty and rocky too, a lovely reinterpretation of the envelope style.
