The MICHAEL line is just chock full of affordable goodies this season. Cross-body bags are really hot right now, and this Michael Kors croc-effect interpretation is a great way to get the trend without looking trendy.
The MICHAEL line is the only diffusion line that I trust to make realistic exotic-embossed leather. This crocodile look leather has a great texture and sheen, but I don’t particularly love the color. Does it have an oddly green undertone, or is it just me?
The shape of this bag is perfect. It’s a great saddle bag style in a petite, manageable size that will work well worn across the body. The large front buckle is a great centerpiece to the look. It’s classic, but a little bit oversized, so it looks modern. I could really do without the MK hangtag, but it’s easy enough to dispose of if you’re so inclined.
You really can’t do better for $200. This is a well-designed, well-constructed bag that will be easy to carry everywhere.

Alexander Wang’s latest bags all have a trunk-inspired shape. I don’t know where the idea came from, but the results are gorgeous. This Emile ostrich skin bag is gorgeously exotic, but totally wearable.

Michael Kors had a long moment of popularity in the 1990s. All the models wore his low key, classic but modern pieces. In the past decade, however, he seems to have mostly regurgitated his own former designs or current trends. I’m not really sure where he was going with this textured leather bag, but it ended up pretty boring.
