Coach is offering its customers a little extra value at the moment, with a complimentary monogramming service at selected American stores.

The personalized touch is available on leather hangtags, luggage tags, and selected small goods at its men’s store on New York City’s Bleecker Street and the Boston store on Copley Place. Phone orders are also available for anyone who doesn’t live nearby.

The monogramming is subtle and some of the classiest I’ve seen. You can choose up to three initials, with periods or without them, in a range of colors. I’m a bit of a fan of the luxurious look of the gold and silver shades, but if you prefer a matte hue there’s also black, white, navy, green, yellow, orange, and red. What more could you want?

This monogrammed Coach goodies would make excellent last-minute Father’s Day gifts, or presents for any special occasion really. That is, if you can bear to part with them.

It’s not often that we see the big designer labels offering us something for nothing, so I have to take my hat off to Coach here. Now if only the service was available in more locations. I’d love to see some West Coast stores participating!

Serpui Marie brings back flapper fashion with this Malaga clutch.

It might just be me, but I can’t help thinking of those 1920s Charleston dresses as I look at this clutch’s short golden fringing. The use of raffia, a material I haven’t seen on a fringed purse, is really interesting. It creates a quirky texture and a summery feel. The golden color makes it evening appropriate, but it’s a bit more casual than your average clutch purse.

I also really like the mother of pearl clasp, although I’m not sure it belongs on this purse. It’s really a bit too refined for a clutch with so much playful energy. It’s small enough not to distract us too much, but the design decision is still a bit confusing.

I wouldn’t say Serpui Marie has stepped outside the box with the details, but they’re functional enough to help the Malaga work for us. The zippered pocket makes a nice change of pace from those useless slip pouches, but as it’s not reinforced I’m not sure how long it’ll last. The Malaga is also larger than the average clutch, and with a long chain strap those extra inches won’t be too hard to manage.

The Malaga is unusual and sure to stand out in any crowd, but I think it feels a bit too homespun for its $295 price tag. Some raffia bags deserve such a big bottom line, but I’m not sure this is one of them.

Savanna takes the fringed purse from everyday accessory to after five wear with this beaded wristlet.

Rather than creating fringe from leather or synthetic as so many labels do, Savanna has crafted a curtain of threaded beads. It’s a clever twist on the popular bohemian accent, and one which makes this rather simple wristlet a bit more unusual.

Unfortunately though that fringe we loved isn’t continued on the back of the bag. It’s the kind of corner cutting we expect in a $40 cheapie, but that doesn’t mean the bare side isn’t disappointing.

The range of carrying options is much more impressive. There’s the soft knotted wrist strap we see, and another soft rope strap inside. This longer chain isn’t the most luxurious looking, but it’ll feel a lot nicer on bare shoulders than the typical metal strap.

The interior is nothing to write home about and probably just what you’d expect. It’s so small that you’ll struggle to fit anything important inside it, and its slide pocket is just as useless. But we all know that evening purses are more about personality than practicality anyway, and on that score this beaded wristlet delivers.

It’s never going to inspire a case of handbag envy, but for $40 this wristlet is a cheap and cheerful way to complete an evening ensemble.

Mulberry has posted a whopping 385% increase in profits during the last year, defying global economic sales trends.

The jump was no doubt inspired by the opening of nine new stores in Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Australia. Online sales also played their part, with an increase in this sector of 69%. And the collaboration with Target, which helped make Mulberry apparel and accessories accessible to budget shoppers, probably didn’t hurt its sales figures either!

Handbags have proved some of Mulberry’s most popular items over the last 12 months. The purses have been spotted on the arms of stylish celebrities including Kate Moss, Gemma Arterton, Frieda Pinto, and Alexa Chung, to name just a few. The relatively accessible prices have helped women on the street follow their star idols. The swell of support has seen handbag production increase by 30% at Mulberry’s Somerset factory.

But don’t expect Mulberry to let those impressive sales figures go to its head. The fashion house’s chairman and CEO, Godfrey Davis, says the company is “cautious about the global economic environment,” but focused on expanding its international interests. New stores in Amsterdam, Germany, New York, Korea, Bangkok, and China are expected to open before the year’s end, and no doubt boost those impressive sales figures even further.

Mulberry Bags on eBay

Sara Berman gives the traditional woven handbag some feminine flair with this Bo Rose Carry-All Satchel.

This is a very traditionally styled satchel, but its woven finish and rose appliqué make it a bit more interesting. However I’m just not sure whether those design elements really gel. The woven leather is lovely and even, if not quite as appealing as a more delicate woven finish. The rose appliqué is detailed and well designed. If these accents were apart I might even be wowed. But together I’m just not sure. It’s a matter of personal taste, but the Bo Rose doesn’t feel very cohesive to me.

The leopard print lining adds another disparate element to proceedings. This wild patterning also doesn’t feel like it belongs, but at least it’s tucked away inside. All those confusing parts makes it hard for me to appreciate the Bo Rose’s positives, its leather trimmed pockets, long rolled handles amongst them, and protective feet amongst them.

Considering its size and intricate detail this Bo Rose satchel probably is worth the $460 Sara Berman commands. But for that money I want a bag that makes a more decisive style statement.

Lauren Bush’s FEED Projects has teamed up with Disney for its latest limited edition FEED bag. The Disney, It’s a Small World by FEED Feed Our Small World Tote has an awfully big name and an important message.

With its cute graphic of children silhouetted and circling around the world, the tote reminds us that we’re all connected on this planet. The images of children are continued in vibrant color on the shoulder strap.

As with most FEED Projects bags this tote is made from natural burlap, and lined with cotton. They aren’t the most luxurious materials on the market, but they’re tough enough to last several seasons wear.

Cheap and cheerful materials aren’t such a sacrifice when they come with a cheap and cheerful price tag, and they’re even better when they’re attached to a good cause. The Disney, It’s a Small World by FEED Feed Our Small World Tote is available for $48 from Nordstrom. A generous $10 of that price will help the U.S. Fund for UNICEF provide proper nutrition for children in third-world countries.

I’ve always admired Lauren Bush’s work with the FEED Projects, and with this Disney inspired tote I think she may have made her cutest accessory yet! Is it on your wish list?

Santi sparkles once again with this adorable Reese clutch.

The label is famous for creating glittering evening purses at attainable prices, and this $170 beauty is no exception. But it does differ a bit from the average as it’s been studded with hundreds of tiny black sequins.

Designers rarely use sequins of this color, and looking at the drama they bring to the Reese I wonder why. They remind me a little of an oil slick, the way we can see a rainbow of colors amongst the darkness.

The interior isn’t quite as impressive, but it does the trick. It’s very small, as evening clutches tend to be, but it should handle the very barest of essentials. With such limited space it’s a shame the chain strap doesn’t detach, but I suppose we should be happy for a hands-free option!

Sequins aren’t often appropriate for daytime wear, but I think black might be the exception. This purse doesn’t sparkle quite as brightly as its candy-colored cousins, but it could certainly punch up an everyday outfit. That versatility makes the $170 price tag seem even more accessible.

With so many bags shrinking these days it’s refreshing to see one bucking the trend. Samsonite invites us to carry the kitchen sink and a few extras in its Tote-A-Ton duffle bag.

This duffel is enormous with more than 6400 cubic inches of packing space. That’s roughly the equivalent of a trunk, but no one wants to carry one of those heavy old-fashioned travel bags these days. This lightweight nylon bag weighs just one pound when it’s unpacked, but its fabric is tough enough to handle overstuffing. Many satisfied customers report this bag handling overseas flights without tears or scuffs.

Samsonite has clearly put functionality ahead of fashion, but its range of colors gives it a bit of personality. This bright teal blue-green is my favorite, but it’s also available in red, purple, and black.

The zipper is the Tote-A-Ton’s major weak spot. It’s quite small and simple, and I’m not confident it will withstand the kind of heavy duty packing Samsonite is inviting. I’d avoid putting it under any real pressure if you want it to last.

It’s also disappointing that the short handles are our only carrying option. They’d work for short distances, but they’ll be awkward to use if we’re walking from one end of an airport to the other. An attachable carry strap would have made our travels that much easier.

It’s hard to be too critical for the price though. At $60, this Samsonite bag is one of the cheapest travel duffels I’ve seen.

Reed Krakoff’s new line hasn’t been one of my favorites this season, but it has gotten a lot of attention. The styles have been a little low key and expensive for my taste. This Editor bag is pricey, but it’s a better buy than other bags similar to it.

I really like the subtlety of the two tone leather on the Editor. The colors contrast well, and the textures are also slightly different, which adds interest. The gunmetal hardware is a small contemporary touch.

Let’s be honest about the style of this bag. It’s really similar to the Hermes Birkin bag. I often dislike such obvious “designer imposters,” but I think the Editor has a lot going for it all on its own. The tall shape is elegant, and the strap and buckle details are modern, but refined. It also has a lot of little details that show the quality of the workmanship, like the metal feet on the base and the all but invisible seaming.

At $1,090, the Editor is expensive, but not as expensive as the Birkin, and its seasonless style will serve you well for years to come.
