Her rustic looking tote is adorned with the thought-provoking slogan underneath the minimalist Japanese flag. Its long black straps complement the bold text well, and really pop against the earthy beige background. Turn the bag around and you’ll see Rachel Roy’s signature with a cute red heart, symbolizing her love for the troubled Asian nation. So many designers forget about the back of their bags, so I’m thrilled to see Rachel Roy’s made a little more effort.

This tote is affordable at $25, and 100% of that money benefits Global Giving, a charity which provides short and long-term aid to the natural disaster’s victims. With so many fashion labels skimming a bit off the top of their charity bags, it’s refreshing to see one that’s completely selfless. We’ll probably move on to the next cause before too long, but the telling slogan of Kindness is Always Fashionable will help it remain relevant for several seasons to come.

It’s been some time since a Fossil bag has turned by head, but I found myself looking twice at the label’s Crosstown cross-body bag.

Truth be told, it’s probably only the vibrant teal leather that drew me in. After all, its simple flap design is far from revolutionary. But it did draw me in, and that allowed me to stop and appreciate the Crosstown’s other appealing qualities.

The cheery color is a real bonus, but it’s matched by some more practical features. It’s packed with pockets which make the relatively small interior a breeze to keep organized. Some girls struggle with spaces this size, but I think it’s freeing to find a purse that doesn’t tempt you to overload it. It’ll handle the essentials, and it won’t weigh you down.

The strap is another handy addition. That buckle makes it adjustable, so you can convert it from a shoulder bag to a cross-body depending on your mood.

And then there’s that bottom line, a very affordable $78. That’s cheap for any bag, but when it’s one made from leather, especially a leather that’s as much fun as this, it’s a steal.

I love my purple luggage set, but I hate the space it takes up when I’m not jet setting around the globe. Perhaps it’s time to invest in one of Jen Groover’s new travel cases! The designer responsible for the convenient compartmentalized Butler Bags has just launched a collapsible suitcase.

As an entrepreneur, author, and motivational speaker, Groover is rarely in the same place for too long. The frequent flyer created the Jen Groover Collapsible Pullman because she wanted a travel bag to fold flat underneath her bed.

“I have an apartment in New York and space is at such a premium, and you end up shoving other things inside traditional luggage to store it in the closet,” she explained. “I didn’t think it was too much to ask to have luggage that folded flat.“

The wheeled trolley measures 20 by 15 by 8 inches, so it’ll fit carry-on compartments and car trunks with ease. Classic travelers will enjoy the range of neutral shades, but I’m much more interested in the unexpected colors, including mustard, tomato, and mint green, not to mention the cute striped bags!

The Jen Groover Collapsible Pullman is currently available for $82.50 through QVC, but it’ll soon appear in travel stores and other accessory retailers.

It’s got a very bohemian name, but this Stone Mountain Vagabond is a fairly conservative creature.

There’s a preppy, academy school vibe to this Vagabond hobo. Its cobalt and sky blue accents help to punch up the black pebbled leather. These narrow stripes work with the golden studs to create an almost military feel. This buttoned up appearance is something different for a hobo, but then again, the Vagabond isn’t your typical hobo.

The usual crescent shape is sawn off at the base, ensuring that this one sits up proudly once it’s set down. This makes the silhouette appear closer to a bucket bag than a regular hobo. There’s also more structure to the design, which should please anyone who finds slouchy hobos a bit unmanageable.

The structure isn’t the only element that makes the Vagabond user friendly. The colored stripes disguise a pair of open pockets on the front. There’s another one inside for a cell phone, along with a secure zippered pouch.

The biggest downside for me, and many of Stone Mountain’s fans, is the size. I suppose we shouldn’t expect a large leather purse for a mere $82, but this hobo is still a shade smaller than I’d pictured. You’ll need to be an expert packer to fit all your essentials inside this handbag, but it might just be worth the effort.

Jessica Simpson seems to be trying to channel Manhattan’s trendy Tribeca region with this duffel sharing its name. However this handbag still seems more country bumpkin than big city beauty.

The problem is that this duffel tries too hard to be a fashion rebel. Its large looped buckles definitely draw attention, but I’m not sure it’s the right kind. Frankly I think they look a bit messy, especially on a relatively small canvas. That’s even more pronounced on the stone printed snakeskin bag, where the mottled python print further muddies the look.

While some finishes are more successful than others, I have to admire Jessica Simpson for offering choice. If the heavily marked stone snake isn’t to your taste, you might prefer the plain black anaconda embossing. There’s also pebbled leatherette in black, white, and brown.

Personally I think this blue denim is the pick of them though. Try as you might, it’s hard to make a man made skin seem stylish for less than $100. It’s always just a bit too shiny and thin to really impress. By not pretending to be anything that it’s not, the denim version appears much richer than its sisters.

If you like the look, you’re not going to be disappointed by the Tribeca’s features. It’s not especially large, but it should have enough space to hold everything you really need on an average day out. Organizer pockets in the side walls are also on hand to help you keep your necessary items in order. And remember, there are also those gusseted pockets at the sides for those goodies you need on hand.

The Tribeca isn’t Jessica Simpson’s best bag, but at an affordable $88 it’s still a very tempting proposition.

The Ty Lucas bags are a far cry from those dowdy accessories mothers used to tote. They’re inspired by the latest designer styles, but they’re much more practical than those high end purses tend to be. A plethora of pockets inside and out, including elasticized pouches for bottles, make organization easy. The long straps can hang over shoulders or strollers, while the oversized changing pads come in handy for emergencies!

We’ve seen plenty of diaper bags that combine the features modern moms need with the designs they crave. But the advanced antimicrobial technology we see in the Ty Lucas bags is something different. The linings, pockets, and change pads feature the natural Agion technology, which helps inhibit the growth of bacteria, mold, and fungus. That’s a real blessing for moms who keep themselves awake wondering what their baby bag is breeding!

The fledgling label has introduced just two styles for its debut: the Bella Mamma Messenger ($325) and the Amore Tote ($345). I think the prices are a little high for bags made of nylon and only trimmed in leather but considering the limited baby bag market, many moms may be tempted to splurge.

Handbag dogs might be on the way out, but while there are pretty blondes who can’t bear to leave their Chihuahuas at home there’ll be a call for pet totes like this Scottie Bling bag from Juicy Couture.

What I like most about this pet carrier is that it doesn’t look like a pet carrier. Its classic tote shape makes it appear much more like a regular handbag than the average pet carrier, and in turn much more fashionable. So many of Juicy Couture’s trademarks are here, including the large Scottie dog decorated crest and smattering of rhinestones. But in black and gray, it’s much mellower than the average Juicy design.

This Scottie Bling tote puts fashion first, but it also functions well as a dog carrier. Its front zip closures make it easy to get Fido in and out, and its interior has a leash attachment to ensure he stays put. The open top design aids ventilation, and there’s a mesh panel to help puppy see out. The Scottie Bling is made from a mix of cotton and polyester, so when those inevitable doggy smells set in you can just pop it in the washing machine.

You’ll lose some of the creature comforts afforded in other dog carriers though. There’s no cushioning at the base for your fur baby, and no additional pockets for you.

At $298 this pet tote is probably a bit expensive. I wouldn’t spend that on a regular fabric tote, so why a pet one? But in such a limited market, perhaps Juicy Couture can charge pet owners what it likes!
