Juicy Couture offers a girly alternative to all those masculine laptop bags with this Perfume Pink Electronics purse.

This handbag is playful and pink, just as we’d expect from a Juicy Couture accessory, but it’s also a little bit different too. The sunglass-wearing girl is something new from the brand, and the small Juicy Couture signature makes a welcome change from the label’s usual showy logos.

I must admit though, while this Perfume Pink purse is cute it doesn’t really deliver what I expect a laptop bag will. The interior isn’t padded, and as it’s only made from canvas there’s little protecting our technology. It’s also disappointing that there’s no detachable strap, as those short handles aren’t really practical for morning commuters. The fully lined interior does have a few zippered pockets though, so at least you can keep your items separate and your laptop scratch-free.

At a bargain $78 perhaps I shouldn’t expect too much though. This Juicy Couture bag doesn’t do a lot beyond holding a laptop, but it looks cute while it’s doing it!

The accolades just keep on coming for Mulberry. After its stocks rose by a staggering 527% in the past 12 months, the British brand has been named the world’s best performing luxury fashion retailer by financial news and data service Bloomberg.

No doubt a large chunk of that success has to do with the label’s Alexa bags, which were modeled after its muse Alexa Chung. The four versions, ranging in size from the Mini Alexa to the large ostrich version, account for around 30% of Mulberry sales.

With so many fashion labels still smarting from the global financial crisis and its after effects, Mulberry seems to have only gotten stronger. Perhaps brand’s the relatively affordable bottom lines have helped it weather the storm. Perhaps it’s just designing more exciting accessories than the rest. Either way, it makes you wonder just how much higher its star can rise!

Financial analysts predict that strong overseas growth will increase its stock values in future. Mulberry chairman and chief executive officer Godfrey Davis has also hinted that it will extend the brand name once Mulberry has a sufficient worldwide presence, which seems very close. Could we look forward to Mulberry fragrances or eyewear in the coming seasons? What other Mulberry products would you like to see?

With studs on the way out, fashion designers need to be careful when using these metal accents. Too much and the bag can easily appear tired and destined to date. Kooba gets things right though with the Rae hobo.

Kooba hasn’t been too heavy handed here, which is the real key to the bag’s success. The pin-head studs are dainty, and they’re only used to accent the pleats, the top of the bag, and its straps. The sprinkling of metal helps to define the Rae’s unexpectedly structured shape; we see just enough to add interest without overwhelming the design. We’re just as likely to admire those neatly tucked pleats or the cranberry red leather.

The Rae’s smart design ensures this bag is as pleasurable to use as it is to look at. It’s a good size for everyday use; not too big or too small. We still see plenty of features though, including a pair of open pockets, a large zippered pouch, and a convenient key clip. The leather strap is also very user-friendly. It’s flat so it won’t slip from your shoulder, and it’s also long enough for us to simply grab it and go.

I wouldn’t call the Rae a bargain, but at $485 this Kooba hobo is well priced for a bag with such substance and style.

Victoria Beckham has created a one-off luxurious crocodile skin handbag that’s sure to be on everyone’s Christmas wish list. But most of us won’t expect to find the ultra opulent shoulder bag sitting underneath our tree on December 25. With a hefty price tag of £8995, it’s probably out of the price range of our nearest and dearest!

The snowy exotic skinned handbag is part of Selfridges’ White Christmas list for 2011. It was unveiled last week at the list’s official launch at Selfridges’ Oxford Street flagship store.

The bag really is one for collectors, as it’ll be sold with a handwritten note from Victoria Beckham herself. If you’ve still got room in your Christmas budget, you might consider adding some of Selfridges’ other lustworthy seasonal goodies including diamond encrusted lingerie from Nichole de Carle, cashmere babygrows from Baby Dior, and an over-the-top advent calendar costing £18, 000. What do you expect from a calendar which unveils Christian Louboutin’s red-soled shoes on one December day? It sure beats those waxy chocolates we typically receive!

Selfridges’ managing director Anne Pitcher said the Christmas collection features products designed to “inspire and surprise” its loyal customers, many of whom travel from around the world to snap up those luxury goodies. If you can afford those price tags, why not?

Selfridges’ White Christmas 2011 list will hit the retailer’s stores in Birmingham, Manchester, and London, and its online arm, next month.

The name Judith Leiber is synonymous with intricately designed, crystal covered minaudieres, but with the Nancy she shows us she can dazzle without all that bling.

That’s not to say that the Nancy is a subdued creation, but by keeping the crystals confined to the clasp this purse is less ostentatious than many of its stable sisters. The square cut Austrian crystals look dazzling nestled in a bed of black dip-dyed sheared mink.

The fur is gorgeous, but it’s not the focus here, so I’m a bit torn about its use. We all know real fur is a bit of a no no, although it’s still popular in some high fashion circles. Some might suggest that Leiber’s fans would demand the real thing, but I wonder whether a high-quality synthetic would have done the trick just as well. The fur is secondary to those crystals after all, so if the synthetic were soft enough I think we may have been satisfied.

We also would have undoubtedly paid a lot less for the Nancy. At almost five grand, this purse will blow the budget of most fashionistas. I think you’d need to have Paris Hilton’s social calendar and Barbra Streisand’s staying power to get enough wear to justify its exorbitant cost.

Italian accessories label Piero Guidi plans to open the doors of its first American store this September. The Soho outlet, which will measure around 3600 square feet, will be only the fourth to open outside of the company’s Italian homeland.

The European fashion house is known for the colorful Magic Circus characters which grace its signature purses. The American store will also stock Piero Guidi’s Lineabold line, a range of canvas purses with customizable metal plaques.

The company is often referred to as the Coach of Italy, so I’m sure American fashion fans will warm to its designs. Interestingly enough, Piero Guidi’s retail space won’t be located too far from Coach’s Soho outlet. You’ll find it at 430 West Broadway, between Prince and Spring. It’s in good company too, with stores from fellow countrymen Dolce & Gabbana, Missoni, Emporio Armani, Braccialini, and Avitto all just a stone’s throw away.

Guidi could have afforded a store anywhere in New York City, but “Queen of Retail” Faith Hope Consolo said he only considered Soho. The designer was drawn to the district’s European feel, with its al fresco cafes and open spaces for strolling.

Bourne takes us back to the 80s with this fun Dita Jeweled Box Bag.

There’s a retro futuristic feel to the Dita. That’s a strange thing to say, as it’s certainly not cutting edge by today’s standards. But I can just imagine a girl circa 1984 beaming at the angular organization of the stones and the gleaming metallic pale pink leather. At another time the Dita may have seemed dated, but as we’re still enjoying an 80s renaissance this box bag seems strangely on trend.

As a child of the 80s, I find myself marveling at the geometric configuration of the stones, and that structured design. You could certainly carry it as a traditional box clutch, but there’s also a serpentine strap when you want to go hands-free. This chain looks much more comfortable than the traditional silver linked variety we often see, so why not use it?

The Dita’s a decent size, but its structured design makes it a bit smaller than it first appears. It’s not the kind of purse you can overstuff as its clasp will pop open under pressure, so you might need to reevaluate what you mean by “evening essentials.”

At $189.95 the Dita is no bargain, but it’s also not exorbitant by evening bag standards either. And if you can manage to incorporate it into your daily wardrobe, I’m sure you’ll see value for your dollar.
