Aldo has done it again. That is, they have produced a cute, lovable bag that is completely affordable. And when I say affordable, I mean it comes in at a credit-crunch friendly $19.98. Never before have I been quite so fond of a bargain basement item like this.

I think it is the design that does it for me. In a simple and effective bow-tie silhouette, the bag does classy-yet-casual evening wear brilliantly. Over-sized bows and patent accessories are big trends this season, and this clutch combines the two. Even better, it is in a snakeskin effect fabric, meaning you couldn’t pack more fashion-statements in if you tried. That’s especially impressive considering it’s tiny size!

Of course, you don’t get much storage with any clutch, but this one really suffers. It’s not got much depth, and this combined with a small frame really limits your packing choices. If you only need a phone and your keys, however, then you should be fine. And if push comes to shove, you could have the red version too for later in the night!

If you are expecting luxury and lots of quirky features, my advice is this: buy a more expensive bag! But if you want quick one-season looks that combine with vintage styling (and are happy to take the basics over the top-line) then this is going to do you proud. It won’t get you onto a red carpet, but it should get you as far as the limo!

Not every color option has quite the edgy punch of this gold leather and black studs version of the bucket bag with its slightly crinkled texture and glossy sheen. If you like the shape and overall style but prefer something tamer, look for the Rock-A-By in its other color combos. The crisp white leather option with turquoise studs almost has a soft, beachy feel to it. The other two versions are black leather with pink detail or dark gray with yellow. In my opinion, though, the gold seems to fit best with the style of the bag.

Betsey Johnson gave the Rock-A-By Betsey some extra pizazz with a sturdy braided strap, which also has a comfortable shoulder drop. As you’d expect with an oversized bucket bag, the interior is deep and roomy for ample storing space. Overall, the handbag is somewhat affordable at just under $300, and it’s a subtle way to get in on the studded style without going whole hog.

Fold-over bags are prized by bagistas who can’t settle for just one look. Carry it by the cutout handles and you’ve got a conventional tote. Fold the top over and voila: it’s a clutch. Now Emilio Pucci gives us his colorful take on the convertible trend.

As with so many Emilio Pucci signature prints, this bold look isn’t for everybody. There are many color combinations to choose from, but if your tastes are tame you probably won’t find one to suit. But if you can embrace these vivacious designs, they’re guaranteed to add color to any neutral ensemble. Just don’t carry them with a bold outfit unless you want to look like a clown!

The tote is made from Emilio Pucci’s signature fabric, which is dressed up with black leather cutout handles. The handles have a striking mod look, but I’m not sure I’d want to carry them very far. Straps are always so much more comfortable than these solid structures, so don’t say I didn’t warn you!

The interior has space to spare, but sadly it doesn’t have the organization features it needs to back up the roomy design. The zippered pocket has to work double time holding the essentials you don’t want to find at the bottom of your bag.

It may not be as chic as the Anne Klein Empire clutch, but if you’re looking for a fold-over with personality over poise it’s hard to ignore this Emilio Pucci tote.

Tiffany & Co. has thrown embattled handbag brand Lambertson Truex a lifeline. The jewelry giant has bought out the label, which filed for bankruptcy in March, and hired its designers to boot.

Tiffany spokesman Mark Aaron said Richard Lambertson and John Truex were “well-regarded” in the industry, and vital to Tiffany’s vision of developing handbags and leather accessories. After all, Tiffany wouldn’t know the first thing about designing purses. The dynamic duo of Lambertson Truex on the other hand, has wowed bagistas with beauties like this snakeskin satchel and Cavallino clutch.

“This is a way to possibly pursue it,” affirmed Mr. Aaron. “We think it’s an area that has potential.”

He added that it was “too early” to determine whether the leather goods would be marketed under the Lambertson Truex or Tiffany & Co. banner.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but they matter naught to Lambertson Truex fans. We’re just waiting to see what comes next!

The SAK shows us just how effective a pared back design can look with the Ashbury Shopper.

Does this look familiar to you? Perhaps because it seems inspired by the baskets piled up by the door of every drug and grocery store in America?

While it would be great for shopping at the grocery store or farmer’s market, and possibly for taking to the beach, this bag takes whimsy to a whole other (expensive) level. Over 300 people attended the christening of a Burberry store on Thursday night. The party celebrated the opening of Burberry’s new two-story flagship location in downtown Beijing.

With champagne flowing, guests were welcomed to the event by co-hosts Maggie Cheung, actress from Hong Kong, and Christopher Bailey, creative director of Burberry. The new store, which clocks in at nearly 5,000 square feet, is said to display the new global design concept created by Bailey himself. Even actor Jackie Chan made a quick appearance, apparently interested in some of the brand’s famous handbags.

The party meant more than just a store opening its doors, though. This large flagship location is a testament to Burberry’s continued success in a suffering luxury industry. Kudos to them for whatever they’re doing to stay afloat.

I feel that the unusual design really gives you a chance to look different and individual, and covet a celebrity look sans being in-your-face.

Of course, conservative dressers may find this sort of statement bag too obvious for their liking, and if that is the case then there are many black or patent clutches out there that should do the trick. If you pride yourself on trend-loving and bravery, however, this is a tongue-in-cheek statement that does all the hard work for you.

Gwen Stefani, in launching her fashion line, L.A.M.B. has made a number of stylistic decisions that some people consider questionable. But, this Darjeeling Bangalore Bag in the claret colorway is not one of them. It has a sleek Mod sensibility that looks both retro and contemporary.

First off, the color combinations on this bag are fabulous. They’re almost the primary colors, but with a twist that takes grade school cool to downtown chic. I love the depth of the claret red against the robin’s egg blue and goldenrod yellow. The black accents provide contrast that really makes the colors pop. 

The shape of the bag is classic and comfortable to carry. At 9″ x 6.5″ x 2.5″, the Darjeeling Bangalore is not too big and not too small. It’s just about right for any woman who is tired of lugging around an enormous bag overflowing with every lipstick in the drawer. With this bag, I’d say you’re gonna have to pick two cosmetics and leave the rest at home if you want to fit your wallet inside.

The small details are really what make this bag successful. The flap top that tucks into the leather strap closure adds a point of interest that is quirky, but not over the top. The gold hardware shines against this colorful backdrop, and the insets on the strap are another great touch.

Despite its totally over-the-top color, I think this bag will appeal to a lot of women. The shape and colors could take you from Upper East Side to Harajuku in about three seconds flat. And at $345, the Darjeeling is extremely reasonably priced for its ilk.

I can’t say that I’m bowled over by the Bally Bherna. It’s not exactly one of the brand’s most dramatic designs, to be sure. In comparison to something like the Bally Pemba Pouchette, it’s extremely tame.

However, there’s always a time and place (and outfit) for a subtle accessory like this one. The woven fabric is a nice, casual change from typical solid leather handbags. While the logo print isn’t my favorite pattern, the neutral colors keep it from looking too busy or overwhelming. The only surprising thing about the Bherna is the deep red lining of the interior.

Where it lacks in distinct personality, though, it makes up for in quality. As Bally bags tend to go, the Bherna is one classy, well-made satchel. It won’t add a lot of pop to an outfit, but it will look great with many different ensembles and will surely last a long time when taken care of.

The signature Bally logo print is accented with light brown vachetta leather handles and trim. Although the double handles have a decent shoulder drop and rolled leather for comfort, the Bherna also includes a detachable strap for versatility. For the retail price of $515, this satchel combines a timeless style with convenience.
