Jimmy Choo’s recent accessories have been a little off balance for me, lately. I love it when he sticks to uptown modern designs, but don’t like his watered down take on bohemian chic. Luckily, this lovely handbag falls into the former category, and I love the look of it.

Firstly, I really dig the shiny grey patent leather, it looks super sleek. And the matching suede details add texture, and a soft edge to this very structural bag. The shape of the bag is classic, but with enough modern detailing to look distinctive. 

The goldtone zipper pockets on the front add an edgy appeal, and offer a practical way to keep your little necessities organized. The smooth leather straps are thick and comfy, perfect for throwing over your shoulder. And the square ring detail that edges the sides of the bag is a modern and interesting touch. 

The 15″ x 10″ x 11″ size is great for everyday, and the abundance of pockets make it extremely utilitarian. There is a zipper pocket on the back of the bag, an interior zipper pocket, and interior patch pockets, which should be more than plenty to keep your things in place.

This is a very sophisticated, ladylike handbag with enough modern details to keep it contemporary, and it is exactly the level of design that I expect to see from Jimmy Choo.

What do you get when one of the world’s most creative fashion minds comes together with a premium sports brand? Something like this chic Stella McCartney Adidas golf bag!

It might have a designer pedigree to conjure with, but this golf bag doesn’t like to boast. It lets the casual style do the talking instead, which should please plenty. This chic purse is made from neutral beige cotton, so it won’t clash with that loud golf outfit of yours!

The stripe running down the envelope flap discreetly hides a zippered pocket. There are more small slots on the outside, so your tees will always be close at hand. A braided keychain is attached with a D-ring, so there’ll be no fumbling around for keys either. The lightweight fabric and medium size ensures this purse won’t weigh you down while you’re getting about the green. The ample interior space doesn’t need much to stay organized, but a cell phone slip and a zippered pocket are always welcome.

The shoulder strap is padded and adjustable, so it’s a dream to carry on a long day golfing. It makes me wonder why you’d ever want to detach it! I rarely complain about more features, but that one just doesn’t make sense to me.

Christian Louboutin has ditched the models for his artistic Fall/Winter 2009/2010 advertising campaign.

This gorgeous shot, featuring a stunning ruffled stiletto and the gorgeously girly Mount Street clutch, is just one of nine beautiful advertisements in the campaign. I love the way the accessories look amongst those scarlet autumn leaves, and the sweet bird adds vibrancy to this still life portrait.

It’s no surprise to hear acclaimed still life photographer Peter Lippmann was enlisted to capture all the elegance of 18th century art for the campaign. He was assisted by creative director Nicolas Menu and stylist Amandine Moine.

Other images in the series feature Christian Louboutin’s famous red-heeled shoes amongst multicolored confectionery, exotic fruits, and seashells, and game birds.

The supermodels may get all the accolades, but this is one magnificent advertising campaign that we’re likely to remember much longer than the rest. Don’t you just love a fashion house that dares to be different? Well done Christian Louboutin!

Roxy heads out of the surf and into the school yard with this Fiddle Li Dee backpack. The bag features the colorful and contemporary prints we expect from the label in an entirely practical package.

The vibrant plaid pattern is printed on 100% polyester, a hard wearing fabric that will stack up to being the punishment kids are wont to dish out. The pink and aqua stripes mean this is probably more appropriate as a girls bag, but it’s not overtly feminine so it won’t offend rebellious teens.

The Fiddle Li Dee is massive, with enough room to handle textbooks, folders, lunchboxes, and stationery. But it never gets overwhelming thanks to the inbuilt organizer. The generous front pocket offers more usable storage space.

Of course, once this baby’s loaded up with homework it’s bound to get heavy. The wide, fabric covered shoulder straps do their best to ease the burden.

But for most moms the real selling point is the price. At just $40, it’s cheap enough to replace once your fickle teen changes their mind!

This handbag by Jessica Simpson is practically oozing with casual, bohemian style. Though I’m sure it’s not intended to inspire hippie-like behavior, it certainly puts me in a laid-back mood.

A fringed bag is nothing new to fashion, but it doesn’t always give out a boho-chic vibe. Sometimes the effect is more Pomeranian than free-spirited, like on the poufy Maddalena Marconi Fringed Evening Bag; but generally the look ends up with the carefree style of this Woodstock tote.

Instead of the typical bottom-hanging fringe, this cross-body bag has four vertical rows of the detail on the front. It’s an interesting, slightly unexpected look when combined with a handful of multi-colored, beaded tassels. If you prefer the standard fringe location, however, the Woodstock also comes in a smaller hobo with the feature.

I wish that the leather on this cross-body could be real. Alas, at only $88, we’re lucky to get a decent imitation. I’m not a huge fan of faux leather fringe, but it really doesn’t look bad on the Woodstock. This Jessica Simpson design also gets some brownie points for having a back zippered pocket and an adjustable strap. I can let a few negatives go for convenient features like that.

There was a time in my life when I would have sold my soul (or at least my car) for a closet full of Jimmy Choos. I’m a little older now, a little wiser, and, sadly a little bit over Jimmy Choo. I don’t know whether I changed or he did, but our tastes just haven’t met lately. That is, until I saw this clutch.

Oh Jimmy Choo I’m so sorry that I doubted you. This Martha Pony Skin clutch really is the epitome of trend-driven uptown chic. From the luxurious, almost fur-like texture of the pony skin to the very of-the moment leopard print, I am in love.

The safari theme of the clutch is made elegant by the subtle greyscale color palette and the quality of the materials. The edgy, asymmetrical zipper, though, is what really makes this purse special. It could go from Fifth Avenue to West 4th Street faster than the transit system.

At 11″ x 7″ x 2″, the size is just right, as far as I’m concerned. I’m tired of trying to tuck a two foot long clutch under my arm, and frankly, I don’t need that much space, anyways. This is big eough for wallet, keys, cell, and even a smallish cosmetic bag. Perfect for a night on the town.

And who wouldn’t want this hot little number as their date? Especially when that hot little zipper unzips to expand the size of the clutch. You know, to make room for all those phone numbers you’ll be getting.

Anya Hindmarch isn’t letting an unfortunate strain of burglaries get her spirits down. In fact, the handbag designer must be on cloud nine right now after a recent meeting with the Queen at Buckingham Palace.

Hindmarch attended a reception at the palace this past Tuesday, June 2, to be awarded a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE). She was recognized due to her contribution to Britain’s fashion industry, and I have to agree with the British royalty on this one. From her quirky “I’m Not a Plastic Bag” tote to the sleek Jackson Shoulder Bag, Hindmarch’s styles are always chic and popular.

It must have been an exciting moment for the designer since the Queen herself pinned on the award. Hindmarch described her enthusiasm:

But I’m willing to suffer that inconvenience for such a timeless package. The $195 retail value seems a steal for this go-anywhere clutch.

Gucci designer Frida Giannini has been named International Designer of the Year by Japan’s Fashion Editor’s Club.

Frida’s win is particularly notable as it’s the first time the prestigious title has been bestowed upon a woman. Katsuto Tai, director of the Fashion Editor’s Club, said Ms Giannini was honored for her ability to anticipate trends and coordinate styles, and her innovative creativity in creating authentic luxury items.

Frida Giannini’s win coincides with her current Asian tour. The designer is abroad promoting the brand in Eastern markets including Japan and Korea. She is also in the region to attend the inauguration of China’s newest Gucci store, the country’s 28th Gucci outlet.

It sounds like despite the global recession and its economic fallout, Gucci and Frida Giannini are well placed to weather the storm!

This cute Rafe clutch has just the right easy, breezy attitude to suit your summer wardrobe.

The fabric finish dresses the clutch down, making it the sort of accessory you could carry to a beach party or picnic. The material is adorned with timeless floral embroidery in a summery yellow shade. This soft fabric is slightly gathered for an even more relaxed look.

The softness of the design makes the patent leather trim look a little incongruous. It’s just so stiff, and the glossy sheen is much more dressed up than the rest of the Morgan. The over-sized fold-over clasp also seems at odds with the relaxed floral finish. I always appreciate security, but a more discreet hidden snap would have offered that and improved the look.

The cute summery style continues with the yellow and white gingham lining inside. It’s not an expansive space by any means, but it’s quite reasonable compared to other clutches. A zippered pocket inside offers a handy spot for stashing loose coins and other small valuables.

I only wish it offered a little more for the money. $225 seems pricy for a small fabric purse, even though you’re bound to get plenty of use from it. Personally, I prefer a little more luxury for that kind of dough!
