Get ready to go “bananas”, as Rachel Zoe would say. After many rumors and much discussion, the famous stylist to the stars is debuting her first fashion collection at New York Fashion Week.

In addition to what seems like an overwhelmingly stressful career seen on Bravo’s reality show The Rachel Zoe Project, this gal is stepping into new fashion territory with her own line of fabulous accessories without luxury price tags.

Although I’m not so sure we’ll see her roster of famous clients including Jennifer Garner and Cameron Diaz sporting items from her QVC collection, you can bet that women from average income households will be clamoring to see what’s in store. Reportedly, we can expect an accessible collection of statement jewelry, sunglasses, scarves, handbags, and even some faux fur.

Instead of sitting on the sidelines as she always does, Rachel Zoe will have the pleasure of watching her designs debut at Fashion Week’s QVC show. I’m unsure about the details of the price range as of yet, but you can count on “absolutely 100% affordable fashion for sure.”

Sometimes I wonder why I don’t see more Bulga handbags on celebrities considering this designer brand’s range of styles and tendency to produce those ever-popular oversized satchels. It’s not that this relatively young label’s designs haven’t been spotted on any famous shoulders. Jessica Simpson and Miley Cyrus are among their fans. However, perhaps it sometimes gets overlooked for the latest fad.

This Zaraf handbag is a prime example of Bulga’s unique take on the satchel. It might not be the most original design I’ve ever seen, but it’s still something that stands out in its simplicity.

The large bag’s lack of adornment and superfluous features give it a contemporary look. Its clean lines, however, are what make it worth a look, in my opinion. In contrast to some satchels with intricately woven textures or bold metallic hardware, which are details that can be equally stylish, the Zaraf relies on its quality to attract attention. 

At $495 a pop, you should expect nothing less than high quality, though. The leather looks great and is set off beautifully with tone on tone stitching. It seems like the kind of satchel that just gets better the longer you use it.

Exterior pockets make it perfectly practical for your everyday needs as well as add to the bag’s sleek style. The interior isn’t exactly flush with organizational compartments, but it is open and roomy for large items with a zippered pocket for smaller things. Overall, this Zaraf satchel in trendy purple will serve you well for function and fashion.

Cosmetics bags all too often look pretty much the same. Thankfully this Vera Bradley cosmetics pouch brings that little something extra to the mix.

OK, so this purse is still made from predictable clear vinyl. Nearly all cosmetics purses have this for practicality, and whilst it is useful it is a little bit too uniform to ever look good.

But the rest of this purse goes someway to making up for the obvious vinyl exterior. The floral decoration uses a bright, fresh and modern pattern, which encircles the bag all around the zip. It also dominates a wide feature section, so you can really appreciate the bright color. It is a bit curlicue-esque, but if that is your thing it is lovely!

The zipper pull is a nice addition, adding a pretty touch to a basic security feature. That said, however I must mention just how simple this vinyl bag is. If you like your makeup bags organized and planned out, then this single pocket makeup purse won’t suit.

Could this wallet really be a Lovcat creation? I had to look twice to believe it, as the Pinch Lock II looks like something I’d expect to see from Kathy Van Zeeland or Betsey Johnson.

But sure enough, the label has traded in its usual art deco sophistication to create this bold purse. The large gold pinch lock hardware doesn’t just give the wallet its name. It also dominates the design, acting as much more than a simple secure feature. Lovcat rarely puts it name up front, so it’s surprising to see not just a nameplate, but an ostentatious one. There’s no missing this crystal encrusted logo.

Surface impressions aside, this is a fairly practical purse. It won’t suit compulsive shoppers, but there are enough features to satisfy most girls. There’s space for four credit cards, two clear windows for ID, and a thicker slot for stashing a wad of bills.

The Pinch Lock II’s larger-than-life design won’t suit everybody, but there’s definitely a market for it. That’s especially true for wallets, which are tucked away in larger handbags for most of their lives. We might not want to carry bling around all day, but it’s nice to whip it out every now and then. But I wonder why the Pinch Lock II only comes in basic black. Surely a purse this daring deserves a hot pink version for girls who really want to show off!

A dispute over a missing handbag came to a fiery head in Britain recently.

Birmingham Crown Court heard that transvestite Ricardo da Silva was attacked in his flat after he misplaced his friend’s Louis Vuitton handbag. His pals Gabryela Passos and Raphael Modesto doused him in petrol and set him alight. With friends like that, who needs enemies?

Mr da Silva claims his friends’ property, which included a Louis Vuitton handbag and laptop computer, was stolen in a burglary. Clearly the attackers disagreed with that story!

Mr da Silva suffered burns to 70% of his body in the attack. He spent more than three months in hospital, and required 16 operations to recover.

Lawyers for Mr da Silva say the attack was a premeditated attempt on their client’s life. The defendants deny the charge of attempted murder. Whether that was their intention or not, I think it’s safe to say this trio isn’t as close as they once were!

Despite some predictions and various reports that the “It” bag is passé due to a harsh economy, Hollywood celebrities continue to defy the presumption by favoring designer styles. While the death of the “It” bag craze might be true for the average household, somehow I don’t see it going anywhere for celebs who make well over the average paycheck and tend to pick up freebies from designers.

According to InStyle, we’ve got the makings of a new favorite from Yves Saint Laurent’s fall collection of handbags. The casual, buttery-soft leather Roady tote is a perfectly slouchy oversized hobo with simple details and plenty of style. So far, the YSL bag has been seen about town on the arms of Katy Perry and Mary-Kate Olsen, though I highly doubt this will be an exhaustive list by the end of the season.

Though I can’t really say I’m over-the-moon with excitement about the new style, there’s a lovely simplicity and everyday charm to the design that appeals to my practical side. On the other hand, the steep $1795 price tag that accompanies the Roady tote is enough to abate any sensible allure of this handbag.

The Monogram Roses collection fits a very specific taste, however, and won’t be everyone’s cup of tea. If you like the whimsicality of it, though, you won’t be at all disappointed with the rest of the bag’s first-rate qualities. As you’d anticipate from a designer tote, the Speedy Roses has leather trim, comfortable rolled handles, and brass hardware. Frankly, I’d expect nothing less considering the hefty price tag.

In true Santi style, this elegant evening purse is a riotous affair of classy beading, detailed embroidery and slouchy refined quality. Following in the footsteps of this bright and cheery Santi purse, this is yet another 20’s style beaded beauty to keep you company through winter.

As always with beaded bags, you are guaranteed to feel a little bit 20’s flapper girl with this clutched by your feminine side. Be careful to pair it with the right clothes, as over-dramatic coordination will result in a look that is a little bit “too much”. However, if you wear it right this clutch with its sumptuous satin interior will see you all the way.

This is a dramatic and elegant evening bag that would look totally out of place in the light of day. Be careful with it; it’s fragile!
