Hobo International has quite a collection of simple and practical leather wallets. Styles like the Lauren and the Eden might have more room since they’re classified as both wallet and clutch, but the Robin is perfect for storing cash and cards in your purse.

The leafy green color is great for fall, but it’s not the only option for this Hobo International bag. The Robin is actually available in a rainbow of colors from which to choose. Although a few of them, like the bright aqua and sorbet pink, might be more springish. However, since this is an accessory that goes inside a bag, that’s not really an issue.

The interior is typical of what you’d expect from a wallet with slots for credit cards and IDs with a zippered area for cash and other valuables. The kiss-lock coin pouch on the front is both cute and convenient.

Like most Hobo International products that I’ve come across, the Robin is crafted from a nice quality of leather. The brushed metal hardware around the front coin pocket is a nice complement to any of the color choices. Priced at $78, it might seem a little high for a wallet to some people, but the timeless style and great quality make it something you won’t need to replace any time soon.

Valentino can do anything other designers do, only sleeker, chicer, and with more oomph. Seriously, in the pantheon of fashion gods, this man is Zeus, and his retirement is a tragedy from which I may never recover. But no matter, because he has left behind loads of little delicacies like this one.

And what a delicacy it is! This little clutch is pure purse magic. It’s elegant, charming, feminine, and even better, already wrapped up in its own little bow! Okay, so it does look a little Christmas-y, but the holidays are coming, so now’s as good a time as any to get prepared.

The long rectangular shape is set off with the beautifully elongated bow, which has the look and feel of some sort of modernist folding technique. I love that there is no clasp to distract from the seamless sea of emerald that is this clutch. Instead this closes with a zipper.

The only thing I really can’t behind on this clutch is the price. $895 for a clutch that will get most of its wear between December 20th and January 1st? It’s just not affordable. But then again, appeasing the fashion gods is never cheap.

Miniature bowlers are a strange breed. Featuring the classic bowling bag shape and traditional design, these little versions offer a lightweight day-to-day alternative. This patent bowler example from design legend Oscar De La Renta is a prime example of a mini bag that should be big!

The oversized snakeskin/crocodile pattern brings an air of the traditional to this unusual shape, reminding me of dark libraries and psychologist chairs. This pattern is echoed throughout, and will probably never go out of fashion – and if it does, it will come round again!

Oscar De La Renta is a legendary designer, but this work doesn’t venture far past the traditional classic ideas. The signature “O” lining is a nice touch, but you won’t find anything modern or different. You can keep up the luxury, however, with the over-sized chain and chunky handles.

Essentially this is a classy timeless bag that should last forever – destined to one day be called vintage! As with all investment pieces, don’t expect current trends, or even much space!

Marni has a knack for figuring out what modern women want without resorting to overused trends and clichés. This Geometric Clutch is the perfect example of their refined design sensibility in action.

I love the crisp white and black color scheme of the clutch. The black edging really reinforces the lines of the bag, and draws attention to its structured, undulating design. The shape of the bag itself seems partially to come from nature – it resembles a seashell – and partially from geometry. The origami-style pleating gives the clutch volume, and is a subtle visual detail. While I almost wish there was no clasp, I like the way the clean design of the gold tone hardware fits into the overall look of the bag.

The clutch is bigger than it looks, or at least it’s bigger than I thought it was. At 14″ x 7″ x 6″, it’s really on the oversized size of clutches, great if you’re the kind of girl that likes to keep her arsenal of beauty products close at hand. I could fit almost my whole make-up drawer in here!

This clutch is the perfect accompaniment to a bright red dress or your favorite LBD, and it has a classic graphic appeal that never goes out of style.

One glance and it’s easy to see what inspired the Twinkle’s playful moniker. Brilliant rhinestones sparkle against their black leather backdrop like stars twinkling in the night sky. The accent is striking but not overdone, with Alexis Hudson resisting the urge to add too much bling.

While the rhinestones are the greatest eye-catchers, they’re not the only design features worth attention. The traditional flap design is given a little tweak with geometric cut-out corners. We all remember those freaky purses made from coddled cats, but Daina Levine is proving keepsake bags don’t need to be creepy. Her business JennaClaire Handbag Studio takes special fabrics and transforms them into contemporary accessories.

When two women were unsure how to divide their grandmother’s fur coat, they enlisted JennaClaire to create two small bags from the lining. A bride also sought the company’s help to create purses for her bridal party. Fabric from the wedding dresses of her mother and grandmother were used to make these very special accessories.

But not every piece has such a touching back story. The store also offers swatches and fabric remnants, which bagistas can choose for their own one-of-a-kind purse.

“First, some people are overwhelmed,” Daina Levine said. “Then, people come up with different combinations of things you might think would never work, but they do.”

JennaClaire is based in Dayton, but its designs have still caught the attention of some famous stars, including Sheryl Crow and Mandy Moore.

While ready-made JennaClaire bags are available through the website, Ms Levine hopes to launch her online design store in the fall. In the meantime, Dayton locals can visit her studio at 4832 Juniper Way, The Greene Towne Center for that personalized purse.

Like the beloved children’s book that shares its name, this Velveteen Rabbit from The Jesse B. Collection is destined to become a favorite for years to come.

The name comes from the clutch’s soft velveteen finish. It feels gorgeous, but it’s also a recession busting choice, helping the purse stay under that magic $100 mark. The classic frame design is simple, allowing the tactile fabric to shine. Some may call it boring, but that basic styling is ideal for pairing with an elaborate evening gown.

There’s no traditional closing device, but the frame design helps the purse stay shut. Open it up to reveal a space which is a little too slender to be truly practical, but stunning all the same. You’ll fit only evening essentials inside, unless you don’t mind unsightly bulges, but the lovely silk moiré lining is almost enough to make me forgive its shortcomings.

Since real python leather bags can easily run a couple thousand dollards, many women choose a snakeskin embossed or stamped version instead. Honestly, unless it’s a Carlos Falchi creation or something of the same caliber, it’s not really worth it to me.

I suppose the next best thing would be an option like this Fontanelli Stamped Python Bowler. The leather is still high quality and luxurious, but the texture is manufactured, making it somewhat more affordable.

Affordable only works in this case because the handbag is less than a thousand bucks. A price tag of $710 is still out of reach for many budgets, but it is at least a more attractive price than bags made out of the real thing. The python-embossing on this calfskin leather bag is a good enough imitation to please even the pickiest of bagistas.

Though categorized as a bowler-style bag, this mustard brown Fontanelli design seems more like a combination of bowler and satchel. It actually has a somewhat similar shape to L.A.M.B.’s Cambridge Satchel with its tall, structured, A-line silhouette.

The open interior is great for storage, and the long double handles are equally convenient for regular carrying. This Fontanelli stamped python handbag is all sophistication and uptown style for a little less than designer brands.

Pony skin is one of those materials that people go nuts for. It must be because it has a more luxurious texture than leather, but doesn’t drum up all the controversy of fur. In any case, pony skin and animal prints are both major must haves this fall, and I really love the way Halston has utilized these trends on this totally unique Henry clutch.

For the sake of convenience, I’ll call this bag a clutch, but truthfully, it defies categorization. The cheetah print ponyskin overlay and strap are designed to be usuable in several different ways. It can be worn as a wristlet, or even over the shoulder, for an edgy, off-kilter look.

The double link hardware shirrs the material in a way that reminds me of the 80’s. Remember those tee shirt clips that you used to use on the side of all your oversized tees? That’s what I’m seeing. That in combination with the print make it very Dynasty, which could go either way in terms of tastefulness.

The way the pony skin is draped over the structure of the black suede bag gives it a haphazard, Flintstones-y sort of a look that is really one of a kind. I really don’t think I’ve seen a design anything like this before. It’s almost a bag inside of a pouch. Whatever it is, it looks fabulous, and it’s bound to turn every head on the block.
