Miu Miu makes quirky, off-kilter, but still classic, pieces that appeal to young hipster types and fashionistas around the globe. I’m always amazed at the way they take the trends and make them timeless.

Well, this clutch is definitely classic and timeless, but seemingly lacking in Miu Miu’s usual flair. This clutch is versatile and would be totally practical for a lot of occasions, but let’s be honest; isn’t it just a tad boring? Honestly, from the front it sort of looks like an oversized eyeglass case to me.

Other than the snooze factors, I can’t find any major flaws with the bag. The accordian-shaped bottom gives it a bit of personality, and the side buckles and a little snap. The logo is nice and unobtrusive, and the leather is smooth and supple.

Well, I can’t find much wrong with this bag, but I’m just not excited by it. I can think of several more exciting ways to spend $895.

The funky silver toned hardware edging the pockets and handles of this Rhonda tote add some great structure to the square bowler bag lines. Add to that a dose of over-sized crocodile skin, brilliant shape and rich sexy colors, and this Guess hold-all is a pretty beautiful bag!

Part day handbag and part evening carryall, Guess have clearly aimed to create a stylish purse that will be suitable all year round. It isn’t a pretty evening purse, nor a compact multi-functional beauty, but what it is meant to do it does well. You even get to enjoy the monogrammed Guess fabric on the interior, whilst the outside stays subtle and classy.

Th shoulder strap for this box tote is brilliantly useful. However, the short handles are a little thin for a bag of this capacity, which means you only have one carrying option if you really overload it.

All in all this is a top end designer bag that clocks in at under $200. It’s a great little investment piece in trend-proof colors and an unusual shape.

Woven bags seem to be everywhere, and as the cooler weather takes hold this trend shows no signs of slowing down. While lattice bags are almost common these days, a basket weave purse like this Wisteria satchel dares to be different.

This is one of those synthetic bags which looks like a synthetic bag. The finish is just a little too shiny on the surface, and there isn’t the deep liquid gloss we see in a patent. Many won’t mind that, but I think for $114 I could find a better leather imitation.

It really depends where your priorities lie. While there are better mimics around, they probably won’t have this basket-weave finish. That lovely texture, accented by contrast stitching, is the Wisteria’s biggest drawcard.

Not that there aren’t other, more practical parts to enjoy. Take the rolled handles, for example, which help busy girls simply grab and go. This Wisteria is one of those rare bags that can comfortably carry the essentials without a lot of unnecessary room. It won’t weigh you down, and there are pockets inside and out to keep those must-haves organized.

I can imagine pairing this blue satchel with jeans and a cute T-shirt. The Chocolate Wisteria is also available in mustard, brown, and bone.

More of us are saying no to paper and plastic and carrying our purchases home in reusable totes. The Jesse B. Collection helps us embrace that eco-friendly trend with this Surfer Shopping Bag.

Baby blue and orange tones clash delightfully in the art deco print. They may be complementary shades, but it’s not a combination we’re used to seeing. With so many cotton totes around, it’s those unexpected looks which help set this one apart. I love the print, so it’s a shame the black logo patch interrupts it. Nameplates can be chic design features, but this one seems simply tacked on.

I’d much rather see The Jesse B. Collection logo inside. That might add some interest to this space, which right now sends me to sleep. Sure, it’s big enough to carry all your shopping home. But there are no closures, no pockets, and no pouches. The plain brown fabric lining is the final insult.

The simple design makes me think I could whip this bag up myself given a little time with a sewing machine. I probably could, and with a much more interesting interior, but for just $50 I’m not sure I’d waste my time!

While Marc Jacobs is definitely one of my favorite designers, lately the Marc by Marc Jacobs line has left me feeling a little cold. Most of the bag designs are good, but they keep crudding them up with a bunch of logos. I know that some people like that sort of thing, I just don’t happen to be one of them.

This bag is a good example of what I’m talking about. The soft, lush great velvet is a fabulous material, and the smooth patent leather bow contrasts with it nicely, but the stamped Marc Jacobs logo is really distracting. I wish they would have gone with a quilted velvet, instead.

Actually, I’m not really sure about a couple things on this bag. There seems to be too many bows on the front, and I just cant tell whether the smaller ones are meant to look like bows or flowers, and for some reason, I find that really irritating.

It’s also a little shapeless for my taste. I mean, it looks fine in the picture because it’s all stuffed with tissue, but it just isn’t going to look that way in reality. After you fill it full of your personal things, I have a feeling it might look a bit lumpy.

Overall, I just don’t think this bag is very well executed, and I expect a lot more from Marc Jacobs.

If you had told me a year ago that I would fall in love with a Judith Leiber bag, I would have laughed right in your face. Not that there’s anything wrong with Judith Leiber; it’s just that sparkly isn’t usually my style.

But this version of sparkly definitely is. Maybe because it’s dark, or maybe just because it’s not shaped like a flamingo or something, but either way, I really dig this bag. It has an almost gothic charm that is so this season.

This silver, hard-cased clutch is covered edge-to-edge with smokey cut crystals. The elongated octogonal shape gives an extra layer of dimension to an already many multi-faceted bag. Even the interior, which is lined in metallic silver leather shines like the sun.

The crystal push-lock top is a great touch. It looks like a smokey topaz sitting on a pile of other smokey topazes. The slim chain strap is so fine and delicate that, frankly, I would be a little worried about breaking it, but the bag is so small that you can’t fill it with too many weighty items anyways. And as a bonus, the clutch comes with a little double sided vanity mirror that is totally perfect and petite.

The $2,895 price tag is more than a little daunting, but let’s be honest, this is a collector’s item, not just a handbag.

I can just imagine the preposterously long line outside of H&M on Saturday, November 14 when Jimmy Choo’s much-anticipated collection for the retail store is released to the public. Yes, we are all practically salivating with the anticipation of getting our hands on the budget-friendly style from the renowned designer.

Although we don’t know specific prices for these upcoming shoes, handbags, clothing, and jewelry designs, we do now have a peek at what to expect. Of course, I would’ve expected nothing less than fabulous from Jimmy Choo, whose designs have peppered red carpets for years now. However, the recently released lookbook of the Jimmy Choo for H&M line reveals items even better than I anticipated.

The sky-high stilettos, thigh high boots, faux fur jackets, oversized zebra-print clutches, and studded totes are just a few of the designs you can expect from the collection. The overall vibe of the line is dramatic, edgy, and, of course, oh-so fashionable.

Cole Haan’s line of hand-woven handbags in the Genevieve weave must be one of the brand’s biggest sellers since they seem to have a countless number of bag styles with the design. From satchels to wallets, the Genevieve pops up in almost any search for Cole Haan bags.

Although the collection is nothing new to me, I can still appreciate it when the brand revamps the style for an improved look. This Genevieve Small Carpet Bag is an example of the signature feature used in a new way.

The combination of the structured, classic, and undeniably traditional carpet bag silhouette with the typically casual appearance of woven leather produces an interesting result. I would’ve expected a greater contrast between the two features if I had only read a description of the purse before looking at a picture. Somehow, though, the structured body and informal weave blend together effortlessly.

The rich color might have something to with integrating shape and texture so well. Normally, I would recommend limiting the carrying of woven handbags to the spring and summer months. In this dark “lacquer red” color, however, the Italian leather Genevieve Carpet Bag just might be able to make an appropriate appearance in the fall or maybe even winter.
