This Glittery Buffalo Lucy clutch is quite a departure from the norm for Lauren Merkin. Just when I was comparing typically edgy Treesje’s Duchess bag to Lauren Merkin’s pretty and feminine standard fare, here the designer takes a cue from Treesje with tough, contemporary details.

Although the shape of the Lucy is as elegant and sophisticated as ever, it’s almost like a fish out of water with rocker-esque exposed zipper details. The zipper trim runs along the edges of the pleating as if purposely trying to accentuate the contrast between the two design features.

Despite my confusion over this new look from Lauren Merkin, the Glittery Buffalo Lucy is a rather fun, trendy handbag that benefits from a classic silhouette and quality craftsmanship. The hinged frame top provides easy access to the belongings you have stored in this mid-sized clutch.

There might not be much glitter on the Glittery Buffalo Lucy, or rather any at all in my estimation, but a hint of sheen to the black buffalo leather material adds some visual interest. This Lauren Merkin clutch retails for a respectable $295.

The Christmas party season is all about glitz and bling, and my, does this Kathy Van Zeeland crystal covered tote provide you with that!

This tote is covered in as many jeweled gems as could physically be fitted onto its patent red leather body. This is where the purse got its name, similar as it is to a glass filled to the brim with chunks of fresh ice.

With the smooth straight lines of the patent leather body, the handles are a little too much. Instead of being sleek and letting the gems do the talking, the handles are twisted, and somehow I feel that this made for a tackier look than it otherwise would have.

That said, the handles should be wide enough not to cut into your shoulders, which always comes in handy with a large tote. All your files should fit in, and it will consequently be suitable for a quite liberal workplace or for college/schoolwork. To add to the functionality, you can take advantage of the useful little pocket on the reverse of the bag, close to your body for security but easy to access.

I do love a feminine yet individual purse. This delicate clutch from Jessica McClintock screams girly satin from the rooftops, whilst all the time combining it with that interesting layering technique.

Available in two classic color options, black and silver, this satin purse definitely aims for evening glamor. By avoiding the bling that many evening bags opt for, however, they have kept this sophisticated and have let that smooth satin speak for itself.

Decoratively this is a lovely clutch, and as long as it keeps the shape well it is unlikely to go out of fashion. The quilted effect of the layered satin waves add texture and interest, whilst the central division is the real high point. With this division in place, this Jessica McClintock clutch is transformed into a modern “bow”, bringing a hint of festive cheer.

This is a mature purse, with a handy chain handle for if you get tired. The chain is perhaps a little too heavy, but all in all this is functional and gorgeous, and bound to be a hit at only $42!

Traditionally slouchy and boho chic, the Marci hobo from Chloe bucks the trend with some equestrian flair.

The preppy riding school feel comes from the large horseshoe shapes stitched into the front of the Marci. The curves accentuate the bag’s lovely lines, and might just bring a little luck your way! The horseshoes also help to hide the front pocket, so you get practical perks without the style drawbacks.

The single shoulder strap is wrapped in leather for a little extra style. It’s not very long, but the top of the bag slouches down so low that you can still easily carry the Marci over your shoulder.

The vermillion red calfskin may scream a little too loudly for some, but I think it’d really pop against gray winter days and dark trench coats. It’s a shame there are no other color choices for conservative types though.

The Marci isn’t in stores yet, but I’d get my pre-order in if I were you. Hilary Duff’s already been spotted carrying it in Gossip Girl, so demand is bound to be as big as this bag!

Louis Vuitton is getting into the festive spirit with the release of this limited edition Christmas Chest.

Now when I say limited edition, I mean limited edition. Just five of the trunks were created by Louis Vuitton’s Asnieres workshops. I’m not sure where they are now, or how you could get your hands on one, but I can only imagine they don’t come cheaply.

It’s a shame, because the concept is just darling. Each chest is crafted from the high-quality materials the luxury label typically uses for its iconic trunks. They’re given an extra bit of Christmas cheer though as they’re filled with hand-blown ornaments. The secure case with its individual ornament nests ensures that each precious glass creation stays safe once your tree is packed away. I’m sure it works a lot better than the shoebox I use to stash tissue-covered glass ornaments!

I don’t expect to see it under my tree, but I’m putting this Louis Vuitton chest on my Christmas wish list anyway!

Among the singer’s purchases was a bejeweled clutch from the new Christopher Kane for Versus collection as well as Alexander Wang’s popular Coco handbag and other designer shoes, jackets, jewelry, and even bikinis with the grand total amounting to over $33,000.

Whether Beyoncé was getting a head start on Christmas shopping or just stocking up for her European tour wardrobe is unclear. Either way, that’s some serious spending!

It’s been a while since I’ve come across a Francesco Biasia handbag that really made me want to stop and take a closer look, but the brand’s newest fall/winter collection is full of them.

So they say that handbag dogs are the latest trend. I think they mean cute pocket sized chihuahuas, however, rather than a bag in the shape of a Boston Terrier!

Betsey Johnson loves her girly bags, and has been accused of going a little bit over-the-top in the past. This satchel definitely pushes the boundaries; do you love it or hate it?

The basic premise of this crocodile print purse is actually quite delicate. The blue lines against the glossy black PVC are a stylish elegant combination, and if the purse had been left as that then it would have looked just fine. It is the blue lightening strike tag that pushes it slightly too far, but you should be able to remove that!

Whatever you think about this purse, the pockets are undeniably great. Aside from adding eighties vibes and a bit of a bowler attitude, they provide you with plenty of outside storage space in addition to the lofty interior.

All in all this is a spacious satchel with potential to look great, especially with dark black outfits where it is the focal point. Be careful not to over-clutter it, and you will have a girly Betsey Johnson purse to be proud of.
