Many of the evening bag designs from Alexis Hudson are fairly glamorous, in my opinion, but this Glam Cross-Body definitely lives up to its name with sparkles galore.

The handbag is technically just a simple mini zippered pouch that can be carried as a clutch or as a cross-body bag when you attach the long chain strap. Its the details on the purse, however, that make the Glam a little special.

The front of the pouch bag features a nicely organized design of rounded gold-toned studs and shimmering rhinestone-like gems that are bound to reflect light and catch some eyes at a party. I do like how the layout of the details is purposeful and doesn’t appear haphazard like other studded and gemstone-covered bags can seem at times. However, it is disappointing to discover that such a small handbag whose retail price is $250 doesn’t feature the same detail on the back. For that price tag, I would’ve expected a little more.

As opposed to less expensive pouch bags that zip straight across the top, the Glam’s zippered closure is sunken so it stays fairly hidden. This turquoise version of the Glam is made from a nice nylon material that has a slight incandescent sheen to it, while other versions of this mini Alexis Hudson cross-body are available in leather.

There were so many bags to lust after in the original Sex and the City movie, but the one that really caught my eye was the Judith Leiber clutch carried by Charlotte’s daughter. Lily’s little strawberry cupcake purse may have sold out quickly, but the designer’s now released another one which is so similar you can barely tell the difference.

This Cupcake Clutch is every bit as delicious, with its candy-colored crystal frosting and pink gemstone sprinkles. The gold accents only add to this purse’s luxurious air. There’s a gold clasp which fastens the clutch at the front, a golden chain to hold, and gold-colored leather lining when you peek inside.

Of course, that interior space is far from luxurious. Anything shaped like a cake isn’t designed to be practical. But it’s big enough to carry some cash, your essential cards, and the complimentary miniature vanity mirror. I just wonder where we’re supposed to put our make-up. There’s no sense adding a mirror to show us we need a touch-up, if we can’t carry any cosmetics!

I guess at least if you’re carrying this Judith Leiber purse, most people will be too dazzled by it to focus on your face. And well they should when you spend a massive $4295 on something so fun and frivolous!

Many fashion brands focus on the ladies, but one designer who never forgets men is Louis Vuitton. The iconic luxury label has just revealed its mens’ accessory line for fall/winter 2010. It’s a decidedly low-key affair, with traditional shapes and a reinterpretation of the time-honored Louis Vuitton monogram.

Studio director Paul Helbers claims his collection was inspired by “the traveling wardrobe of an African king,” but I’m afraid I can’t see anything so grand here. With names like the Monogram Hexagone, Monogram Revelation, and Monogram Escapade the accessories sound fancy, but the designs don’t really deliver anything to excite. The prices are definitely regal though, with the range costing between $900 and $6000.

But Louis Vuitton fans won’t mind one bit. After all, there’s the fine leather and expert craftsmanship that’s always attracted admirers. So long as the brand continues to deliver quality, I’m sure its bags will prove popular with gents who aren’t afraid to carry a murse.

This Donna Four-Poster Tote from Joe’s Jeans is effortlessly cool. It doesn’t follow trends, preferring instead to be classic rock and roll.

The luxury leather needs little to dress it up. Complementary stitching adds subtle structure, while a smattering of studs and angular pockets bring the edge we spoke about. But it’s not the sort of punk inspired attitude we’ve seen so much of these days. Instead, I could imagine rock icons like a young Joni Mitchell or Janis Joplin carrying this purse to their next show.

It looks slim, but if you want to pack it full the Donna will hold plenty. Something tells me the tote will look it’s best with only the essentials inside, but it’s nice to know there is the room to cope with a few luxuries.

I love the slightly seventies vibe of this saddle brown shade, but there are also black and grape purple options to choose from.

What with make-do-and-mend fashion on the rise, and craft being the name of the day, this Pink Studio clutch is perfectly on trend.

The actual body of this little Shiala purse is incredibly simple: purely raffia in a minimalist neutral tone. That leaves the cute button and thread detailing to do the talking, and what it is saying is earthy and pretty. I really like it, although most people could attempt something like it themselves!

Of course, the whole aim of this clutch is to look like a custom designed purse you could find on a site like Etsy. I personally think the brand has done well, although it hasn’t produced anything revolutionary. I was a little disappointed by the cheap black interior, but most people will never even see it.

Although there is no optional handle, this is a smart little frame clutch for casual evenings out.

There’s the Ava and the Hepburn, and now another of Maxx New York’s other designs seemingly named after stylish silver screen stars of the past: the Garbo.

Like the other sophisticated handbags, the Garbo tote is a pretty blend of classic chic and contemporary. The inverted shape and sophisticated touches such as rolled handles and gold-toned hardware speak to the vintage-like appeal of the bag, but other details make it modern.

For one, the crinkled texture of the manmade material reminds me a bit of Matt & Nat’s signature Japanese Paper faux leather that always looks so hip and urban. The Garbo kicks it up a notch with a very shiny patent effect. Other features like the folded down flaps on the top corners and zippered pouches on each side also add to the vibe.

Icy weather looks like it’s well and truly set in throughout America and Europe. Rather than envying the folks in summery Australia, why not embrace the season with a plush purse like this one from JJ Winters?

The jet black suede is ideal for cooler weather. It’s got the same touchable appeal that wool does, but it’s just a little more dressed up. It’s that sophisticated suede and deep color that saves this slouchy bag from being simply a casual affair.

Metallic thread and gold and pewter studs glam things up further. Ordinarily the metal would add edge, but the effect is much softer here. It’s not exactly girly, but it’s not hard as nails either. I only wish the design continued around to the back of the bag. I might expect it in a cheaper bag, but at $425 this one isn’t exactly inexpensive.

I appreciate the generous interior, but the lack of features leaves me a little cold. The purse is almost oversized, so a lone zippered pocket just doesn’t cut it. Without the organizational features you need, you can expect to waste time rummaging about the bottom of this purse.

Gripes aside, this JJ Winters bag has a great look. Just remember to carry it the right way!
