Ruffles, ruffles, and more ruffles seem to be taking the handbag world by storm right now. It seems like every time I turn around there’s another style featuring this increasingly ubiquitous feature.

If your pocketbook can’t handle the designer versions like the Moschino Cheap and Chic Ruffled Bag, however, there are plenty of other fish in the sea, so to speak, from which to choose. One of them is this ultra affordable Roxy Ruffled Up Shoulder Bag that retails for only $42.

Putting the palatable price point aside for a moment, though, the style itself is cute and casual, which is exactly what I’d expect from Roxy. As opposed to other ruffled bags that incorporate the detail in a sophisticated way, the Ruffled Up makes it laid-back with a few large layers on the front along with distressing to the synthetic material and a slightly asymmetrical top layer.

Although it’s called a shoulder bag, the lengthy drop of the strap makes it possible for some people to wear it across the body as well. This azalea pink color is hard to miss and brings a fun pop of color to an outfit, but the Ruffled Up is also available in a neutral stone color and basic black.

This surreal and hugely expensive purse is just the most recent in a long lines of fashion-friendly and creative Giuseppe Zanotti bags.

The diamante on this graphic clutch may be a little too much for many people, especially in combination with the bling gold interior. However, the little crystals do have a great and surreal effect on the shape of the text, making it quirky and somewhat disjointed. What it spells out is slightly odd, but its individuality will no doubt attract Giuseppe Zanotti hardcore fans!

To avoid over decoration, only the entrance to the fold-over clutch is in bright gold. Instead, the rest is lined in signature black fabric to match the soft black suede exterior. I would have hoped for at least one interior pocket, especially since this purse costs $1140! It is also a shame that there is no optional handle, as everyone likes to have the choice!

Luxury, soft and supple, this printed metallic clutch is a designer purse that is as popular for its famous brand name as for its design!

Gustto go all luxurious with its rich burgundy Frenza bag.

The shape of this huge and spacious tote is quite unique. Sure, the basic tote design is there, but in combination with a small central handle and stylized fold-over closure. The looks combine fashion with function, and I think the balance is made brilliantly. The handle may well be a little small for if you load this fully, but at least it will fit comfortably on your shoulder.

Whilst the deep shade and glossy luxurious patent leather are great on the outside, Gustto do actually manage to carry that on inside. The suede lining, whilst sadly easy to damage, is smooth and soft, and continues that comfortable yet smart feeling right through.

Whilst big external pockets could have been useful, it may have ruined the smooth shape of this, and the brand already give us more than most bags even consider! As such, I think the Frenza has hit smart and spacious right on its head!

With its cute lips motif and lush satin surface, it’s not hard to pucker up to this Lulu Guinness Kiss Purse!

This cute clutch sees Lulu Guinness back doing what she loves most: creating adorable accessories with her favorite lips motif. Here the cherry red mouth is embroidered on stylish black satin, a canvas which makes those scarlet lips really pop. Scrolling silver text around the mouth cheekily reminds us just what lips are for. That’s smooching, pecking, and snogging ladies!

Peeking inside, it looks like Lulu spent all her time on the Kiss purse’s looks. The red satin lining is sexy, but the lack of pockets and features of any kind is disappointing.

That’s especially true considering what you’ll pay for this one. The $119 price tag is definitely too much for such a simple purse, but if you’ve got the cash to spare it is awfully cute! It’d make a great party clutch, cosmetics case, or coin purse!

Little Karlie Kloss looks way beyond her seventeen years in this latest advertising campaign released by Christian Dior. Whether someone from the designer label looked at this up-and-coming model and saw a resemblance between her and Lauren Bacall or simply had that inspiration in mind for the photo shoot, Karlie is definitely channeling the silver screen star’s classic look.

In fact, the similarity is a little startling to me. In this new spring/summer 2010 campaign for Dior, the model really nails the look and attitude of Lauren Bacall’s glamorous and very recognizable style from 1940s film-noir movies like The Big Sleep or Dark Passage.

Dior’s take on the actress’ signature look is obviously quite a bit more modern but nonetheless classic and sophisticated. It’s somewhat strange and uncommon to use those types of adjectives when discussing a teenager, but Karlie really pulls it off with this one. 

Leave it to famed fashion photographer Steven Meisel to bring out the best in a shoot and hit a home-run for Dior. Of course, the Detective Briefcase Bag in python doesn’t hurt either.

This Rampage Jenny handbag seems to be suffering from a little bit of an identity crisis with a couple of different styles going on at the same time. However, the combination of looks is cute and chic.

The top half of the front of the Jenny shoulder bag is somewhat simple and slightly contemporary with just a hint of pleating and a rectangular, gold-toned hardware plate with wide strips of the material woven through. Even the handle says modern with its thick, flat strap and chain detail.

The rest of this Rampage handbag is all about being pretty and feminine. Underneath the flap and around the back, the Jenny is embellished with ruffled details that give the purse quite a bit of dimension and visual interest. Although the bottom half of the front almost looks like it could just be ruched or relaxed, it’s easy to see the feature in full effect on the back of the bag.

The ruffles are so pretty that I wish I could see a bit more of it on the front, but I do like the overall look of the varying styles included on the purse. This synthetic shoulder bag retails for a reasonable $78.

Some bags are great fun whilst at the same time wonderfully odd. This peculiar clutch from Bodhi is just that!

Of course strange high fashion, like the quilted lines of this purse, doesn’t come cheaply. That particular example comes in at $598, which is a lot for any bag at all! The tubes are of course classy leather but, even so, many people will be put off by the price, meaning you will very likely be the only person with this bright creature on your arm!

Some will hate this, some will love it, but I reckon most will agree that the tubular shape resembles a strange inflatable children’s toy. I can’t honestly decide if this is innovative fashion, or a bit of a faux pas!

With an acid clutch like this you may expect a vibrant contrasting interior. Instead, however, Bodhi have opted for a signature white fabric; a little plain and refined in comparison to just how outgoing this absurd yet wonderful purse is!
