Soft and wavy satin roses always look great, and they also offer the opportunity to coordinate with suitable floral jewellery and even a fancy corsage! They are perfect for classic evenings out and posh dos!

The shape of this rose purse is pretty typical of smart little evening bags. Whilst its storage and such are as expected, however, at least Jessica McClintock added something a little different in the shape of the wavy fold-over closure! In combo with the slight ruching, I find I actually love this purse! It’s cheap, inoffensive, and delicate!

Italian designer Julie Berard shows you don’t have to sacrifice luxury to go green with her new eco-friendly range for Muratori Handbags.

Of course, eco-friendly is a relative term. Many may scoff at the green label applied to these luxury leather goods. But there’s no doubting her practices are much better than most fashion labels. The leathers are chrome-free and naturally dyed with vegetable products. It’s not such good news for the cows, but the rest of the planet shouldn’t mind too much!

Every Muratori purse is hand-stitched, so the quality is fabulous. I’m particularly taken with this Petal Bag, the brand’s signature design for the season. I love the delicate flower petals adorning the front, and the classic, if somewhat impractical, cream color. Of course it’s available in a few darker shades to hide the stains, but this is the one that’s stolen my heart. And at $975, it’s not prohibitively expensive either!

The spring collection includes both men’s and women’s accessories, so no one needs to miss out!

Spanish designer Jordi Labanda puts her stamp on this playful little purse from Miquelrius.

The sassy design features a sexy young brunette clad in a gorgeous gold evening dress. She’s flanked by flowers and leopard stripes, patterns which seem to signify the dualistic nature of women. It’s a little bit feminine, and a little bit wild. The vibrant colors will give any outfit a lift, although I’m not sure if it should be paired with the evening attire Miquelrius suggests.

While it might suit a few after-five affairs, it’s never going to be red carpet ready. It’s much more appropriate for a party with friends or a casual barbecue, where it’s sure to be a conversation starter.

While the flirty design is the showstopper here, this frame purse is quite cute all on its own. The vintage kiss lock closure paired with the metal frame is a timeless combination. I also love the black patent leather strap, a welcome change from all those hard, metal chains.

At $44 retail, this is an affordable purse to add to the collection of any girl that doesn’t take herself too seriously.

Don’t we all wish we could brush elbows with celebrities on the Golden Globes red carpet this Sunday evening? There’s more than one reason to wish for an invitation to the event though. In addition to catching a glimpse of your favorite stars, attendees of the awards show will receive some sweet swag.

The gift bags, which will be handed to each attendee that night, are different for men and women. The gals’ bags are set to include some Calvin Klein perfume, L’Oreal makeup, InStyle magazine’s new book “The New Secrets of Style”, and a DVD directed by Martin Scorsese. Guys will get cologne, an Alexander West shirt, and style book for men in addition to the Scorsese DVD.

It’s not what’s in the gift bags that has me wishing for an invitation to the event, however. I’m wanting the package in which all of the various goodies will come. This is no paper gift bag. We’re talking about designer handbag wrappings.

The awards show giveaway includes a Dooney & Burke satchel for women and a Tumi duffel for men. I can’t say that the duffel bag gets me too excited, but I’d sure love to snag a free D&B handbag. Even if we can’t get the amazing free swag that celebrities always seem to receive, we can at least buy a Dooney & Bourke satchel at the label’s website or on eBay.

The Swinger hobo from Chinese Laundry has a laid-back, bohemian vibe. It might not take you from day to night for most events, but it’s a great choice for accessorizing casual daytime outfits before transitioning to informal date nights.

It’s not only the hobo handbag style that contributes to the quintessential boho-chic look. The twisted handle ends on each side with a knot that has several inches of fringe hanging down. The overall result seems like a lot of hippie with a dash of nautical.

The light tan color is very neutral, making it versatile for daily use. Although not nearly as sedate, the deep purple option is equally pretty. Both of these versions of the Swinger come in a faux suede that probably isn’t the most durable of materials but one that does look quite nice.

For times of the year that faux suede isn’t appropriate, this Chinese Laundry design also comes in a magenta or gray shiny PVC material that definitely stands out more and might be a little less likely to show scuffs and scrapes. The large Swinger hobo retails for $90.

Stuart Weitzman breaks from his usual sophisticated purse to bring us something a little more unusual.

Don’t get me wrong, I am aware that florals seem to be available every season, in a million different styles, color combos and patterns. This Cluster clutch, however, uses a style of floral artistry that I haven’t ever really seen on a handbag before. If you like rich floral shades and artistic brush strokes, then this slightly surreal pattern on a white background may be for you. If kitsch floral prints are more your thing, however, then I would avoid this clutch.

Whilst the pattern is vibrant and very successful, I am of the opinion that the eponymous gem cluster on the front doesn’t work so well. On its own it is fine, fun and maybe even stylish. Combined with the floral, however, it results in a clash of colors and patterns that looks more chaotic than clever. If this could be removed and the great shape of the purse kept without it, then that is what I would do!

To need to make such changes whilst costing anything from $199 to $500 is not really a great sign, but I don’t want the unique styling of this purse to go undervalued. Ignore the cluster, and concentrate instead on the canvas-like art, optional handle and slender interior!

Combining individual style and practicality, Michael Kors strikes the right note with its Prescott hobo.

While the lush lambskin ensures this bag slouches as any traditional hobo should, the styling is far from classic. The difference comes from the four pockets positioned around the middle, which are cinched in with a drawstring to create a ruched effect. While I’m sure they’re a little fiddly to get into, especially with the extra magnetic snap on the front one, at least the items we stash inside them will stay safe. And how refreshing to see a hobo which gives us storage room from the get go!

That practical approach continues inside, with the fully lined interior packed with five more pockets! I wouldn’t have been surprised if Michael Kors had gone with a minimalistic interior considering the functional exterior, but a few extra pouches never go astray.

The long leather shoulder strap is the kind you can happily sling over your shoulder while running errands or enjoying a day out at the mall. The Prescott’s relaxed style suits both occasions, although its deep red color would work on a slightly more dressed-up outing.

After rumors started to swirl yesterday, Halston has been quick to confirm the good news: Sarah Jessica Parker will partner up with the iconic fashion brand.

The Sex and the City star will take on an active design role working on the Halston Heritage line. This is the brand’s secondary collection, which features updated Halston pieces at modern price points. While Halston has not announced her official title at this point, many suggest she may even be named as creative director!

It seems like a great fit to me. As Carrie Bradshaw, Sarah Jessica Parker become a contemporary style icon, a reputation she cemented when she created the Bitten line for Steve & Barry. Halston is all about gorgeous draping, sexy cuts, and bold colors, the very things SJP herself has been praised for! I know we’ll be waiting for a while, but I’m dying to see the fruits of this creative collaboration.

If the Pyramid Satchel was a little bold for you, it’s worth considering Melie Bianco’s Side Pyramid Studded Hobo. The same pyramid shaped studs accent the purse, but they’re much more subtle.

Rather than cover the bottom of the bag as they do on the Pyramid Satchel, Melie Bianco keep the studs on the side here. They’re paired with delicate pinhead studs, which add a little femininity. This restrained detail makes the purse look much classier than its counterpart, especially in this conservative gray. That should see it look good long after the current taste for studs is over.

For just $84, it’s no surprise that this isn’t a real leather purse. But it doesn’t do a bad imitation, with a little distressing helping to recreate an authentic leather look. It slouches in all the right places too, which should please hobo fans.

Slouchy purses can be difficult to use, but the flat base of this Melie Bianco bag gives it some extra structure. It will help it sit up when you set it down, making it easy to get your essentials in and out.

This gray color is a timeless shade but if you’re after something bolder, consider this Melie Bianco in red.

Either Jimmy Choo wanted to guarantee that its new ads catch your eye, or the label just decided to go in a completely opposite direction from its last fashion campaign. Whatever motivation (and I’m just guessing it’s the former), illumination was definitely on the mind when choosing a theme and venue for the designer’s spring/summer ad campaign.

It’s a complete contrast to the cluttered, rather drab room that served as the backdrop for Angela Lindvall and her Jimmy Choo goods for fall/winter 09. This time around the lights are on full power, and it’s just a tad overwhelming, if you ask me.

The uber-sexy Lindvall is back for the brand in a fluorescent advertising campaign that features her in various positions against a luminous, lightbulb-lined wall. Honestly, when you combine the lighting with the neon colors on the clutch and shoes, it all seems a little overdone.

I would’ve preferred something that highlights the fashion more rather than this look, which just makes me feel like I need a pair of sunglasses. Perhaps Jimmy Choo would have been better off with a happy medium between last season’s bleak and this season’s blinding.
