Calvin Klein, who aren’t known for doing anything particularly adventurous, break out of the mold with this bold Stone Date clutch.

This patent clutch comes in a brilliant shade of patent red, along with some other colors. The sheen is so glossy that it is practically metallic, making this very suitable for evening wear and parties. To add to the party-friendly shimmer, Calvin Klein has added a pretty piece of decoration, featuring large coordinating tones and a pretty metal trim. Very stylish.

Considering the reasonably large size of this patent clutch, and the multiple pockets and storage options, it is unusual for there to only be a wristlet strap option. Whist appreciated, it does strike me that an optional chain handle would be more useful and convenient. That said, at least you do get many pockets, making life much more organized!

Smart and surprisingly cheap, this decorated purse is perfect for working with this season’s trend for polka dots.

That flexibility comes from a useful convertible ability. Whilst some bags can be converted form a clutch to a tote and back again, this one uses handle options to give you the choice between a handheld tote and a convenient shoulder bag. This means that at the beginning of the day you can prance around with this feminine purse on your arm, knowing that you have the option to switch it over should it get too full of purchases.

The design isn’t unfamiliar to anyone who knows what a normal Tommy Hilfiger handbag looks like. He always uses the same striped signature strips, and whilst it does look good it can sometimes leave you wondering if he is capable of thinking outside the box. That said, there is nothing wrong at all with the matte dusky pink canvas and the contrasting dark brown leather. In fact, it looks very sophisticated and classy, and works nicely for the upcoming trends.

We can always count on Sun N’ Sand to create an accessory which is both easy on the wallet and the eye. These beach-ready bags may not be the height of high-end fashion, but they are packed with personality.

This fun flamingo tote, designed by artist Paul Brent, is no exception. Two of these bright pink birds stand proudly against golden beaded leaves and a playful teal and beige striped background. While there are no flamingos or leaves on the back of the bag, it’s nice to at least see the stripes continued there.

The interior leaves a little to be desired, with one lonely zippered pocket on organizational duty. This might not be the biggest bag around, but that single pocket still doesn’t cut it. At least there are two vertical pockets outside for stashing the rest of our valuables.

This is the medium tote, a practical compromise between the “essentials only” mini and the much larger version. This size will suit the everyday needs of most girls, although if you’d prefer to use it for carrying a beach towel or groceries I suggest opting for the bigger bag.

Stuart Weitzman embraces its feminine side with the Labow handbag.

This is a purse for the girliest of girls, an unashamedly frothy concoction. The design is fairly traditional, but it’s the accents that make this one of the most playful purses I’ve seen in some time. Perfect pleats decorate the front flap, while ribbon is woven through the chain strap. And of course, no girly bag would be complete without a bow. The back isn’t quite as ornate, but soft pleats do save the satiny surface from being boring.

This is quite a generous purse as evening bags go, with plenty of space for carrying essentials and a couple of luxuries besides. It’s so refreshing to find an evening bag which can handle more than the bare necessities! Thankfully the Ludlow also has the pockets to keep those extras in order.

The Labow handbag is available in taupe and a purple shade called viola, but for once I prefer basic black. With the ribbon and bow always black, this conservative shade creates the most unified look.

The Samantha by Straw Studios is an everyday hobo for less.

Considering its brand name, the secret to the affordable price should come as no surprise. Paper straw might not be the most durable material around, but it is dirt cheap. It’s also easy to color, so we can pick up the Samantha in conservative brown or navy, or more vibrant fuchsia and lime green.

The woven straw body has a unique texture which reminds me of the crocheting my grandma used to do when I was a kid. Rather than seeming old fashioned, the finish is classic and just a little bit kitsch. Trust me; it’s a good thing!

It looks so simple on the outside, but the Samantha doesn’t skimp on the details. It’s fully lined in cotton, and has a sunken zip closure to keep your essentials safe inside. I wouldn’t mind more than the single open pocket, but for just $32 retail I’m not about to quibble!

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, everyone is thinking about romance. While some bags take it to extreme, Stone Mountain opts for subtlety with the Love Street Dome Satchel.

The red leather finish is romantic, and surprisingly affordable at just $76 retail (and even less right now at Amazon on sale!). But so many bags are made from red leather. Stone Mountain needed something more to make this Love Street bag worthy of its name, and that comes in the form of a cute golden heart. The gleaming accent matches the studs which are dotted about the bag.

It’s not a large bag by any means, but the classic dome shape helps make the most of the space it does have. The playfully spotted interior has a large zippered pocket, a slip for your cell, and a cosmetics pouch for your gloss and eyeliner.

The dual handles look a little too long for the bag’s size, but I’m willing to forgive that. After all, the longer the straps the easier the carrying!

It doesn’t have the world’s most innovative design, but the Love Street Dome Satchel does have a certain charm!

Tory Burch is reminding us that Valentine’s Day is just weeks away with her brand new loved up collection.

The line is the result of Tory Burch’s recent collaboration with artist Leanne Shapton. They came up with two prints: the watercolor Tory logo and some colorful, kissable lips. Both are realized in red hues, ideal for this romantic holiday! The patterns adorn the entire Valentine’s Day range, which features cosmetics cases, tote bags, and pajama sets.

Thankfully the designs aren’t so obvious that they’ll look silly once the day is over. They’re made to last too. Both the tote and cosmetics case are crafted from durable canvas and reinforced with leather trim. The pajamas are made from 100% cotton so they’re sure to be soft.

You can shop for the Valentine’s Day collection on Tory Burch’s website. The cosmetics cases cost $55, the pajamas will set you back $125, and the totes are the big ticket item at $195.

Steve Madden delivers all the drama of the eighties with the on-trend Marietta cross-body bag.

Colored asymmetrical flaps provide the excitement. They also open up to separate storage compartments, although this attempt at practicality doesn’t quite come off. I hear the zip and snaps aren’t the most reliable, so you may want to be careful what you carry inside them. Personally I’d play it safe and keep my valuables in the inside zip pocket.

The glossy exterior comes from synthetic rather than leather, but that should come as no surprise at this price point. It may not have the staying power of calfskin, but this shiny surface suits the retro look.

The long strap gives the Marietta the everyday versatility busy girls look for. It would work as a shoulder strap, but it’s also long enough for cross-body carrying for a more casual look. It looks a little skinny though, so I’d avoid loading up the Marietta too much. These sort of synthetic straps are prone to snapping with a moment’s notice.

I like the retro color combinations of this teal Marietta, but if they don’t grab you it’s also available in a black, silver, and burgundy combo.

Dillard’s will launch a new line of signature handbags and jewelry designed by Project Runway graduate Korto Momolu.

“This partnership with a worldwide brand like Dillard’s is thrilling for me because it will enable me to expose even more people to my aesthetic and continue to make my brand a household name,” said Korto Momolu.

To promote the collection, Ms Momolu will appear in several Dillard’s stores around the country. She’ll kick off the tour in her home town of Little Rock, Arkansas, before visiting Dallas, Houston, Memphis, Atlanta, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, New Orleans, Charlotte, Las Vegas, and Phoenix.

There’s no word yet on exactly what we can expect from the collection, but we’ll get a sneak peek when Korto presents her collection during New York Fashion Week. I can’t wait to see what’s in store!

The Korto Momolu accessories range will be available from selected Dillard’s stores, including its online boutique, from mid-February.

This formal bowler from respected handbag brand Latico has an almost satchel like style, making it much more versatile than many oversized bowlers.

Whilst at first glance this looks to be in one neutral shade of brown, a quick second look lets you see the lizard patterned leather panel mounting the front, and the fact that the twin handles too are in this contrasting  texture. This breaks up a large expanse of fabric and makes the bag look much more interesting, yet still really subtle.

Suitable for work or play, this is one of those bags that transfers easily from weekdays to weekends. The color is just right for smart casual outfits, whilst the traditional bowler shape is perfect for a weekend tryst or trip to the shops. It is a shame that this isn’t as spacious as many bowlers on the market, but at least it has a reasonable amount of room!

Inside this bag is lined in a brilliant metallic gold fabric. I love this, because it brings a dramatic fashionable flair to what is actually a very muted purse. Smart, luxurious and interesting, Latico has produced a really pretty bag here!
