Appearing like a dressed up messenger with a healthy dose of rock and roll attitude comes this Cindy Cross-Body Bag.

I can’t ever imagine the youngest Brady carrying such an edgy bag. Its dark leather calls to mind motorcycle gangs and heavy metal music, and its shiny silver hardware does nothing to soften it. The leather is a little disappointing though, much stiffer than we’d expect from the brand and the price tag. But that does help the Cindy keep its saddle shape without slouching slovenly.

The interior isn’t just larger than most cross-body bags; it’s also a lot more practical. The dual compartment design makes it staying organized a breeze, no matter how scatterbrained you are. There’s plenty of space too, so you’ll have no problems fitting in your essentials and then some.

The extra-long cross-body strap helps you carry the Cindy comfortably, no matter how much it’s loaded up.

I only wish we had a few more color options. While black and dark brown are suitably edgy, there’s little discernable difference in the hues. A markedly different shade, such as a lighter tone or even a rainbow color, would have spiced things up a bit.

Bulgari sexes it up with a stripped-down Julianne Moore in its latest advertising campaign.

This time last year the Italian fashion house presented a very demure looking, and conservatively dressed, Jessica Stam. But what a difference twelve months makes. This time around Julianne Moore has taken it all off to pose with the brand’s accessories.

Perhaps Julianne didn’t have any cash left for clothes after spending up big on Bulgari goodies. After all, that Chandra handbag costs $1900, the Serpentine bracelet is $47, 600, and the 18-karat emerald earrings are so expensive that you have to ask for the price!

At least Julianne can pull this look off. At 49 years old, the Hollywood A-lister has the sort of dewy, flawless skin most of us can only dream of. And there doesn’t seem to be an inch of cellulite or fat on those shapely legs. Yes, I am officially jealous.

Disney and Dooney & Bourke will add new handbags to their co-branded accessories collection this week.

There are two new bags featuring Disney’s most famous mouse, Mickey, and a pink bag starring his long-time love Minnie.

The latest Disney and Dooney & Bourke bags will be sold exclusively at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, from February 26. Anyone who doesn’t live near Orlando can order the purses by calling the Disney Merchandise hotline on 407-363-6200.

To celebrate the launch, Dooney & Bourke director of new product development Ian Ray will appear at the Tren-D store at Downtown Disney Marketplace. Fans can meet and him and ask any questions they have about the new bags and the entire collection. As a special bonus, customers will also receive a free Dooney & Bourke gift when they spend $150 on the Disney and Dooney & Bourke products. That’s not hard to do, with prices ranging from $49 for a wristlet up to $225 for a large tote bag.

It is unusual for Giuseppe Zanotti to produce something quite this unadorned, but I think it works.

It may just be that I have seen so many over-the-top clutches and bags from this brand that I am relieved to see something clean and white. After all, the actual design isn’t that remarkable; the only structure is the long barrel shape and the pure minimalist white exterior. For the massive $695 they charge, Giuseppe Zanotti doesn’t actually provide much substance.

Of course it is often a problem that handbag lovers assume the higher the cost, the thicker the layer of bits and pieces encrusting the surface. So we mustn’t write this off straight away. The simple theme continued throughout this elongated clutch, and even the interior is in white nappa leather. Gorgeous, undeniably, but still not very creative.

Classy but overly simple  this clutch with its convertible handle is lovely but a little over-priced.

Marc Jacobs has always been one of my favorite designers. I especially like the Marc by Marc Jacobs line because it brings high, but wearable, fashion to a wide audience at a decent price point. But, I have to be honest, this bag is really not doing it for me, and I am really disappointed about it.

First of all, it looks like so many other bags the line has put out lately that, frankly, I wonder why they bothered with this one. So, it’s made of buffalo. I can’t bring myself to care, since buffalo leather doesn’t look significantly different than any other kind of leather.

The Hillsy is cute enough, and the color has that subdued grape bubblegum look that Marc Jacobs does so well. But, it just doesn’t interest me. I feel like I could buy a similar bag at a discount store and skip the $480 price tag.

The combination of the pleated front and the bow top is just too much. It looks messy and unstructured and cheap. I could go either way on the tassels, usually, but this whole overdone 1980s look just irks me so much that I want to tear off the tassels as well.

Save your money, ladies, there’s a better Marc Jacobs bag out there. And, if you do happen to love this one, well, I have a feeling it might be on sale, soon.

Miu Miu has been getting more confident with the use of studs recently. Considering it is such an edgy and youth-friendly brand, however, it has taken a while for the label to produce anything combining studs and attitude.

This quilted bag is the best example I have seen, mainly because it is such an unusual twist on the classic concept of a soft and squidgy quilted tote. Miu Miu has essentially taken what could have been a stuffy and old-fashioned design and made it into something that is very 21st century, and which will work brilliantly in combination with the girly chiffon and soft pastels that have been seen on this season’s catwalks. Daring to add a brown leather jacket or some dark clogs will really make this bag and all its studs pop!

Whilst the row upon row of gold-toned studs are bound to get noticed, the interior is much more demure. Miu Miu has opted for a soft beige fabric, which is probably a good decision bearing in mind the complexity of the exterior. The handles are a little short for such a large space, however, although I doubt people would dare to stuff such an expensive bag until overflowing.

Despite the fact that I like this studded tote, the price is going to be a major sticking point. Do you like it enough to spend roughly $1500 on it?

When we reviewed the Bottega Veneta Woven Box Clutch last year, my heart skipped a few beats. At least it did until I spied the price. Then it sank. At $1150, it was simply more than I could afford to spend on an after-five purse. But I think I’ve found a suitable alternative in the Franchi Joan Clutch.

This is no carbon copy; the clasp isn’t as eye-catching or the color as vivid. But it does take its cues from the luxury Bottega Veneta clutch. The subtly sheened satin is given the same woven treatment, and it’s got the same hard case design.

Of course, that means that just like the Bottega Veneta purse I admired, this clutch won’t hold a lot. It’s also smaller than the Bottega Veneta bag, so you may need to redefine what you mean by essentials. I’d be surprised if most girls could carry everything they’d ordinarily take out inside this purse.

On the plus side though, unlike the Bottega Veneta purse this one comes with a dainty chain. This practical touch will definitely come in handy once the hors d’oeuvre trays appear!

But it is stunning to look at. And at just $135, I’d happily leave a few items at home just to carry it!

If the boxy shape of the Juliette Market Tote was a little too traditional for your taste, feast your eyes on this versatile Stasha carry-all from Emilie Sloan.

This bag is available in the same art deco and floral prints, but its design is a lot more unusual. Initially, there’s very little to separate it from the Juliette. But fasten the clasps inside and that traditional tote shape converts to this smaller, angled design. It’s unusual for a tote to change to a more compact configuration, but this was already so large that I don’t mind losing a little storage space.

For $64, it’s no surprise that the finish isn’t luxurious. But while PVC might not be opulent, it does have its advantages. Its glossy coating makes it rain resistant, and it’s easy to clean with a damp cloth.

Sturdy straps are woven from material which reminds me a lot of seatbelts. This material might not be the most stylish choice, at least we know we won’t have to contend with broken handles in future!

British actress Sienna Miller will donate a Cartier handbag to help raise money for Haiti relief efforts. Sienna carried the purse to the premiere of the action flick, G.I Joe: The Rise of the Cobra.

The designer bag will be auctioned alongside some of director Ridley Scott’s personal effects at the screening of documentary Ghosts of Cite Soleil on February 26 at Notting Hill’s Electric Cinema. The documentary, which explores life in the slums of Haiti, stars Wyclef Jean. All monies raised will benefit Action Against Hunger’s emergency Haiti appeal.

While Sienna will not attend the screening, she hopes her donation will help the quake-affected area.

“Haiti is still in desperate need of our attention, and our aid. The column inches may fade, but we must not forget the survivors. Please attend the Ghosts of Cite Soleil screening to learn more about this country that has touched us all, whilst raising vital funds for Haiti one of the poorest countries in the world,” she said.

Tickets to the screening are available for a minimum £15 donation through the JustGiving website.
