We are getting used to seeing beautiful and unusual clutches from luxury but not overpriced designer J. Renee. The Ora clutch is yet another purse that looks great and stands out from the crowd.

When I say that J. Renee isn’t overpriced, I essentially mean that the label could charge more. This purse, for example does still cost $95, but I have seen similar style evening bags being priced at hundreds of dollars more. If you want to be a bit quirky but subtle, however, then I honestly think this may be one of the smartest options out there, even for the price.

This bag uses a combination of horizontal strips of soft beige satin fabric, contrasted against the shimmering pearl fabric pattern. The abstract curved shape adds a frisson of excitement, but the color and fabric still manage to make it subtle and black tie friendly. The light shade may be easily stained, of course, but what dirty activities do you get up to when at a posh event?!

Swish, classy and rather luxurious, this is yet another J. Renee clutch that looks stunning.

When it comes to Mellow World, I never know quite what we’re going to get. This Trapunto Satchel is another unexpected accessory from this always surprising budget line.

Swirling Trapunto stitch isn’t an embellishment we see a lot of, and I think that makes us appreciate its presence when it is used. This isn’t the best example of the ornate stitched pattern, but it’s more than passable for the price.

That price is just $69.95, a virtual steal for a handbag so large. Of course, we won’t expect leather for that, but I wish the faux alternative tried a little harder. The surface is just a little too thin and glossy to really impress.

The array of straps is more inspiring. The dual handles will suit most girls, but I think they’re a shade too short for comfortable over-the-shoulder carrying. It’s no matter though, because the satchel also comes with a much longer one. Attach it, fold the top of the purse over, and you’ve got a brand new look.

The interior is also surprisingly well appointed for the money. A large zippered envelope separates the roomy space into three separate compartments. One side wall has another zippered pocket, while the other has slip pouches for gadgets. It all closes securely with another zip.

This might not be the best example of a Trapunto purse, but it is one of the most affordable.
