Mywalit’s always been a brand that loved color, but it might have outdone itself with this Lava hobo bag.

To say this hobo is colorful is an understatement. Vibrant scalloped swatches are overlaid to create this hobo’s vivid retro pattern. These bold hues are bordered by rich purple Italian leather panels. These sides help to soften the rainbow of color, which makes the Lava more versatile than you might expect.

This hobo is more structured than many of its contemporaries, so it’s also more user-friendly. Without the slouch, we can easily get our belongings in and out, and find what we’re looking for in a hurry. And with a zippered pocket and a handful of pouches, it shouldn’t get too cluttered.

Conservative girls may resist the bright colors of this soft handbag, but I’m finding it hard to. This Lava hobo could be just the thing to brighten up my favorite all-black outfits!

Shara Porter puts her stamp on reclaimed leather goods with her beautiful range of purses.

Ms Porter gives vintage leather bags a new lease of life by hand-stamping whimsical illustrations on their bodies. From bumblebees to baby hawks, Shara Porter’s sketches are what make her handbags truly special.

She says she’s inspired by the thrill of the chase, and the possibilities she sees in the vintage pieces she collects.

“I have always liked finding discarded items and seeing their potential with some sort of alteration,” Porter says. “I love the hunt – and rescuing items that have been passed along.“

Purists may argue that vintage handbags should be preserved in their natural state, but I love what Shara Porter does with these pieces of old. Their integrity is still there, but the contrasting ink stamps make them something more magical and eye-catching.

Shakespeare’s favorite heroine has joined the 21st century with this modern Juliet satchel.

This satchel has a style which is contemporary, yet somehow classic. The pretty angular pleats are more unexpected than vertical ruching. They draw our eye to the center of the bag and its casual tie. I imagine this as a modern alternative to a bow, an accent that’s feminine without being fussy.

I love the design, but the fabric lets it down. I can’t help imagining how much more beautiful this bag would be in genuine leather, or even a higher-quality faux variety. This material is thin and too glossy to really convince us. Then again, if we were to swap it for a more luxurious skin, the Juliet would cost more than the $69.95 retail value.

If you’re a girl on a budget, you probably won’t be too disappointed with what you get here. The Juliet looks the business, from a distance anyway, and it’s got space to spare. The generous interior is backed up by plenty of pockets and pouches to keep your goodies in order. There’s also a detachable shoulder strap to complement the short dual handles. It might not be the most opulent handbag around, but we sure can’t complain about its features!

Diane von Furstenberg recently released a line of printed beach totes that are cheerful and perfect for summer. She has always had a way with prints, and this line is no exception.

I love the multicolored leopard spots on this tote. The color scheme has an almost 80s graffiti feel to it, but it doesn’t look dated or obnoxious. In fact, I’d say it’s the perfect level of loud for a summer beach tote.

The glazed canvas material is water resistant and will stand up to the wind and sand. The generous size will hold everything from sun tan oil and your iPod to a couple of cans of beer, if you’re so inclined. The open top makes it easy to reach into, great for those mid-summer high heat moments when it’s just too hard to even open your eyes to grab something.

At $75, this tote is a pretty good deal, too. Sure, it’s more expensive than throwing your things into a plastic grocery bag, but it’s loads more practical and stylish as well.

Lanvin’s unique brand of French chic usually outshines the competition. Which is why when I look at this Birthday tote, I just have to wonder what’s going on. Did someone spike the designer’s cafe au lait with mediocrity or what?

The Birthday tote looks like a Hallmark card. Not in a kitschy, self-conscious way, either. It looks like one of those cards made for and by middle-aged women that have terrible jokes about saggy boobs and menopause in them. Sure, the character on the tote is slightly hotter than your average middle-aged suburban housewife, but only ever so.

The actual tote is completely run of the mill. It’s a white canvas tote with grosgrain piping. It’s lined with red satin, but for $800, it should be lined with dollar bills. Not only does this bag violate my own personal “no canvas totes over $100” rule, but I am finding that the more I look at this bag, the more I am actually offended by the price tag. It’s a cotton bag at a lambskin price.

Perhaps Lanvin wanted to create a really accessible fashion accessory for their anniversary, but the Birthday tote is failing miserably. At $800, it’s only really accessible for the fashion elite, but with its terrible “LOVE” print, I just don’t see any of them wanting it.

Melie Bianco are the undisputed gods of all things structural and gorgeous. Even better, these bags don’t cost as much as you may expect.

This synthetic leather tote is a case in point. No pun intended, despite the fact that its formal design is actually quite close to a laptop case or even a briefcase. The basic shape is where the over-formality stops, however, because this bag just gets more structural as you look at it. You have the front, you see, where looped tassels line up on the diagonal to create an architectural texture that is, frankly, gorgeous.

Whilst the design is beautiful, I have to complain a little about the materials. After all, this purse costs $108, yet we don’t get real leather. I know that origami styled bags like this are always costly, and that this isn’t the worst price out there … but couldn’t it be made from a leather anyway?

Still, jibes about the fabric behind that rare emerald green shade aside, this is an impressive bag. Even though it is more than appropriate for work, it is funky, fun and fresh at the same time.

On nights out the Taos clutch really comes into its own. You can bling up a classic LBD with bold jewelery to match the statement the bag is making, and with some unbelievable skyscraper heels. You can play it down with the heels if you want, opting for something tribal inspired, but I think you should let a structural black dress stand out against a really architectural shoe. Against all of this the bag glitters away, making it undeniably evening appropriate and pretty sexy to boot.

Part wallet and part clutch, the Voguish purse from Moonsus can happily do either job.

From the outside it looks like a classic casual clutch purse. It’s not as pretty as an evening purse, but the scrolling embroidery bordering the shiny metal logo plate helps to jazz up the exterior. The colors complement the Voguish’s everyday looks; they don’t break any fashion rules but with tones from chocolate to ivory there should be one to suit most bagistas.

The relatively basic exterior is matched by a cleverly designed interior. This is where the Voguish feels more like a wallet, with plenty of pouches and pockets for all of your necessities. The large compartments can carry your cell phone, lipstick, and other small items, while the zip pouch and card slots take care of everything you’d put in a wallet.

At $108 this Voguish isn’t as cheap as many wallets, or clutches, but its high-quality leather and two-for-one appeal make it worth the splurge.

Radley has struck a deal with Carloway Mill, which will see the Harris Tweed mill producing handmade cloth for a premium version of its popular Grosvenor handbag.

“We were putting together our latest themes and had a very strong inspiration from the 1920s’ Bloomsbury group which is all about arts and crafts and the painting and literary set. There was a wealth of information about tweeds and we thought why not try to get proper Harris Tweed. We talked to our designers, Dashing Tweeds, who came up with an exclusive design and that is when we contacted the mill here at Carloway,” explained Radley design director Natalie Bolton.

Ms Bolton assures us the tweed Grosvenor bags will be available in all the vibrant colors we’ve come to expect from Radley, and trimmed in top-grade leather. While Radley bags are generally sold in a range of retailers this premium handbag collection, and its matching holdalls, will be available exclusively through Radley stores, including the Radley website.
