Prezzo pulls off its old trick of making an unusual bag that costs less than you would imagine with this simple box clutch.

Overdecorated box clutches almost always look somewhat ridiculous, so it is good that Prezzo has decided to stick with simple designs for this little creation. The black body, in fact, doesn’t have any distracting patterns or textures, instead letting the evening color talk for itself. In traditional style it has paired the deep ebony with a large cluster of diamante jewels, the white/silver of which makes the dark look darker. It is also the perfect complement to a long black evening dress or your date’s tuxedo.

Whilst the square shape is a nice break from the norm, I do wonder if this is a case of design over function. After all, you lose all the space you would have otherwise had in a simple rectangular box clutch. Still, it is pretty, and you generally don’t need to pack all that much for a posh event other than lipstick and cash.

The patent leather gives the clutch a look that can only be described as scrunchable! The patent leather is delightfully ruched to add a little texture and drama.

The magnetic closure pops open to reveal a space that is slender but longer than so many other evening purse’s on the market. I wouldn’t suggest that you load it up, particularly as there’s no shoulder strap to help you out, but you will be able to sneak in a few items you’re normally forced to leave at home.

With its retail price of $220 this is probably out of the budget of many modern girls, but with Amazon discounting this clutch by 60% it’s definitely worth considering on sale!

The former president of Valentino USA, Bruce Hoeksema has just been named as the new creative director for British luxury label Asprey.

Bruce Hoeksema built a relationship with Asprey over the past few years through his consultancy work with the firm, and he designed the label’s iconic 1781 and Darcy bags. The latter has an eight-month waiting list, so it seems smart for Asprey to put him on the books permanently.

Bruce Hoeksema told Women’s Wear Daily that he wants to craft “beautiful, chic, luxury pieces – which are not so easy to find today. Asprey has such an incredible name and heritage – and there is so much potential here.“

He said he’s also as passionate about Asprey’s smaller lines including their crystal and china collections.

VBH fans will be happy to learn that Bruce Hoeksema will continue to design for the Rome-based brand in addition to his Asprey duties.

Lambertson Truex delivers luxury handbags with luxury price tags attached. But are they really worth the big bucks? In the case of the Erin, I’m not so sure.

There’s no doubting the quality of this Erin bag. It’s been carefully crafted from pony hair, or hair calf as it’s often known, a soft downy fabric complemented by lovely chocolate brown leather. The Erin has a classic silhouette, although the leopard print helps it stand out from the crowd.

It’s a practical purse too, the kind I’d love to have around the office. A zippered envelope runs down the center of the interior, dividing the generous space into three user-friendly compartments. There are pockets of the zip and slip variety too to keep your gadgets and other valuables organized.

There’s a lot to like, but I just can’t warm to that leopard print body. It’s the kind of tacky pattern I expect to see on a cheap synthetic purse, not one that costs more than $1500. Girls that love those wild spots probably won’t want to spend that sort of money, and anyone who can afford it are likely to look to purses with much more class.

Nothing says summer quite like straw. Oh, apart from beading! This Cappelli tote has both, and that is enough to make me wish I was heading to the beach!

There isn’t much that is quiet and demure about this purse. The color jumps out at you right away, in a vivacious shade of hot pink that just begs to be teamed with light cotton summer dresses. Even the handle, usually purely functional, is pretty and colorful. The beads may be a little uncomfortable after a while, but at least they are cute, and different from the boring norm.

As for the structure of the bag itself, this is such a little known brand that I dread to speculate about the quality. Suffice to say this it only costs $39, so even if it does end up being a one season kind of bag it will still be worth it. Straw isn’t often hugely resilient, but the weave looks tight and the design relatively sturdy. Plus, isn’t it just the perfect size to put your book in and head down to the park?

Cute, bright and pretty, this beaded tote is a lovely creation.

The satin pattern itself is pretty whilst quite individual, and the soft folded fabric works well in contrast with the stiff patent trim.

J. Renee often create impractical handbags, but actually this clutch isn’t too bad. You have a reasonable amount of space, and a long and very much appreciated patent handle. You don’t, however, get real leather, despite the fact that this clutch costs $79.95.

If you don’t mind the glossy trim being synthetic, then this polka dot purse is bound to be a crowd pleaser.

The secret is the body, which in silvery mesh shimmers and sparkles as it catches the moonlight. The metal plates don’t slouch in the way a soft fabric or leather might, but the gentle pleating is much more evening appropriate. This metallic body is offset by a coordinating silvery chain.

As it’s called a mini, it should come as no surprise that this is a tiny purse. You’ll be able to carry your cards, cash, and a tube of gloss, but you might struggle to fit a cell phone inside. This requires careful packing, or a partner with very deep pockets to carry your surplus!
