Eco-friendly designers Raina Blyer of Ryann and Allison McGowan of TEICH have joined forces to create the green and practical belt with detachable wristlet.

Bodhi is well known for its love of yellow, and its production of strange yet attractive handbags. This chunky square tote is yet another funky example.

I actually love this bag. There, I said it. Despite the fact that it is a mishmash of a bold Greek key pattern, spacious exterior pockets, and bright yellow trim, there is something upbeat and optimistic about it all. This isn’t a bag for people who stand in the shadows; this is more of an up-and-at-em bold and vivacious tote for people with fashion balls. Of course, this does mean it is harder to wear than many other designer bags, but who cares?!

The actual shape and design of this pocket tote is surprisingly functional when you compare it to how over-the-top the looks are! You get spacious exterior pockets and a big compartmentalized interior that is perfect if you like staying organized. It is, in fact, quite impressive, and means that your $239 is buying you something practical as well as pretty. The best of both worlds!

This geometric patterned hold-all may just be the funkiest bag I have seen in ages, but are you brave enough to wear it?

If you like Pucci inspired prints but don’t want to pay the astonishing prices that go with them, then this cute Halsea envelope clutch is just for you.

The print is definitely 1960s inspired, with a graphic fish scale pattern than explains the “Kona Koi” name choice. Just close you eyes and you can imagine this worn with a white shift dress and gogo boots, along with Twiggy style eye lashes and a coy (or should that be koi?) smile. The coloring, however, is more 1970s, making this an all round retro clutch that could work in an impressively wide variety of situations.

The shape is traditional and always popular, but I have to admit that I wish there was an optional handle. OK, so the coated canvas and multiple organizational options mean that you can treat this like a wallet, but it would still be nice to be able to sling it over your shoulder. Still, you are only paying $69, and with the change you can buy another bag to keep it in!

Lux de Ville delivers a handbag that lives up to its name with the Starlight Sparkle.

In fact, this shoulder bag probably sparkles more than most of us would expect. The glittery, glossy red vinyl body is certainly bold; the kind of finish you’ll either love or loathe. As if it needed more glitz, Lux de Ville has added a large silver star accent near the bag’s base.

All of that sparkle could be accused of overkill, but I’m not such a harsh critic. The label lets these details shine, adding only vertical pleats to dress up the already gaudy material.

At least, that’s the story on the outside. Once you pop open that kiss-lock clasp you’re greeted with even more flamboyance in the form of a loud, leopard print fabric lining. It’s the sort of bold design move that’s difficult to pull off, but if you love glitter vinyl I’ll bet you’ll lap it up. I’d prefer more than the single zippered pocket to stay organized, but at least the interior isn’t so large that it’ll pose too many problems.

The price probably won’t make a difference to your opinion of this bag; if you hate the Starlight Sparkle it won’t sway you, and if you love it you’ll have it any cost. But at just $66, it’s nice to know this distinctive purse won’t leave a gaping hole in your pocket.

When we saw quirky Korean designer Eco Party Mearry release its recycled suit tote earlier this year, I thought it was an anomaly. But after discovering the purses from Argentinean fashion house Carro, I’m beginning to sense a trend. Just like Eco Party Mearry, Carro makes unusual accessories from reclaimed men’s suits. The difference here though, is that we have a whole range of purses to choose from.

Carro’s fun collection features backpacks, messengers, and satchels all made from thrift store clothing finds. Designers Silvina Cannito and Guillermina Balsells work hard to preserve the integrity of the original materials, which helps to give their accessories a unique, vintage charm.

“The fabrics used for these pieces are of excellent quality and very difficult to get nowadays,” they told Treehugger earlier this year. “Additionally, suits and pieces are very interesting in terms of cuts and construction, and allow many possibilities.“

Carro bags are available at several stores in Buenos Aires, Atomic Garden in Oakland, California, and the label’s online store.

Recycled Suit Purses on eBay

Just when all the studded purses were beginning to look the same, Balmain released this Night Punk clutch to shake things up.

A smattering of studs in bronze, pewter, and silver tones add edge to this purse’s plush black suede body. The hardware creates an abstract design that easily combines rock and roll attitude with High Street glamour.

Suede wears quickly, so I’m thrilled to see the inclusion of a chain link shoulder strap. Carrying the Night Punk this way should keep the soft fabric looking sumptuous for a lot longer. The chain is probably delicate enough to pop inside the purse, but if you’re planning on a night of old-fashioned clutching you can simply detach it and leave it at home.

The interior is generous by clutch standards, but it’s also quite simple. I was disappointed to see only a slit pocket inside, as a zippered one would have been much more functional.

That’s nitpicking of course, but at a whopping price of $2710 I think we’ve earned the right to expect perfection. If your budget is bigger than mine though, Balmain may have delivered the luxury purse you’re looking for.

It looks like the New York socialities behind fledgling fashion label Leah & Bliss have taken a Bedazzler to a Hermes Birkin bag to create their new Glamazon purse. But the designers insist that the accessory is no mere imitator.

Instead they claim that the bag is not intended to be a replica Birkin, explaining that their glitzy purse is merely inspired by the iconic Hermes handbag. It comes encrusted with colored stones, which are intended to help the Glamazon serve as a work of art rather than a mere accessory.

I’m not sure Hermes, or many discerning fashion fans will forgive them the similarities though. No matter whether you endorse such reinterpretations or not, Leah & Bliss’ attention to detail is to be commended. The designers only use Italian leather, and sew and embellish each Glamazon by hand.

That makes the prices, which start from $295 for the smallest Glamazon, seem pretty reasonable. Even the largest model costs just $495, a mere fraction of the cost of the authentic Hermes handbags. And for a minimum price of $1000, Leah & Bliss will create a customized handbag just for you. That’s no small change, even if it is well shy of a real Birkin bag.
