I’m not sure whether I’m as enamored as its name suggests I should be, but there’s a lot to love about this hobo bag. This style tends to be slouchy and relaxed, and the soft pleats emphasize these characteristics perfectly. The buttery soft leather sits just so, yet it never looks slovenly. Especially in this platinum shade, a more subtle alternative to silver, it’s got real class.

The Bliss’ day to night appeal is matched by its practical interior. This generously sized space offers a bit more than I’d expect, with a handy key hook complementing the zip and slip pockets. With all that room for essentials and a few luxuries, this purse could easily serve you well for a coffee date that becomes dinner, or cocktails with your gal pals after work.

Navigating such a slouchy, large bag will never really be blissful, but its functional features should make this Treesje hobo less of a headache than its peers.

At $595, this hobo is just the right price for a designer bag of this style and quality.

Prada has made its classic tote a little more desirable with the release of the Initials Tote, and some of our favorite celebs have been quick to get in on the act. Travelon claims to deliver just what I need with this small nylon purse of the same name.

And reluctantly, I’m forced to admit that it’s probably right. I might wish for luxury, style, and ample space for toting everything from magazines to cameras, but they’re really not the things I need at all. If we’re looking at what’s essential, then the durable nylon body and functionally designed interior really do have us covered.

It is a very small bag, but with three separate compartments and a whopping ten pockets it feels a bit bigger than it actually is. And that’s not even counting all the card and ID slots either. The third compartment is expandable too in case you need a little extra storage space.

The only disappoint is the skinny little strap. I wonder how long it will last if the bag is filled to the brim. Even if it does hold, I’m sure it’ll dig into your skin and make marks by the end of the day. At least it’s adjustable though, so you can wear it as a shoulder bag or a cross-body.

For $29.99 Travelon might not give you everything you want here, but they do offer everything you really need.

The Marc by Marc Jacobs line brings on-trend designs to the masses at relatively affordable prices. I am consistently impressed with its ability to know what women want. This tote, although it violates my personal “no cotton totes over $100” policy, is a great example.

The cotton twill fabric is durable and practical. That is not, of course, why you would buy this bag, however. The abstracted leaf print has an interesting organic graffiti appeal that is urban and tough, but still colorful and cheerful.

The bag’s softness balances out the geometric look of the print. It’s a little slouchier than your average tote, with sweet, feminine details like the knotted handles. It’s also a really practical tote. It’s generously sized and has conveniently located side pockets.

I’m not 100% behind the $180 price tag, but I don’t think it’s uncalled for either. It’s more expensive than your average tote, but it also has more features, not to mention more style.

Stella McCartney has recently released a new line of faux leather saddle bags. There are a couple of problems with this. The first is that, usually, saddle bags have some relationship, either functionally or aesthetically to the saddle bags that are used on horses and motorcycles, and these certainly don’t. The second is that the faux leather McCartney has chosen for this line looks about as fake as fake can be.

The faux leather on this bag is that same material that was used on the smaller, green version of the bag. I didn’t like it yesterday, and I don’t like it now. I know that it’s some sort of high-tech, environmentally-friendly faux leather, but it just looks like plastic to me. Plus, the color is off somehow. Even with the embossing, it just all looks too even-toned. There’s just no dimensionality.

The shape of the bag is fine, a traditional messenger. But the front flap doesn’t entirely cover the opening of the bag, which both looks bag and is also unsafe, since the top doesn’t feature a zipper. The bag looks cheap and is poorly constructed. I definitely wouldn’t pay McCartney’s $965 asking price. Honestly, I wouldn’t even pay a tenth of it.

Straw and leather? It’s not an obvious combination, but in this Straw Studios clutch it really works.

At first glance, you would never guess that this little handbag costs just $38. After all, you have a beautifully detailed straw body with a combination of tight weave and striping. Then you have an unusual leather bow, which in combination with that matching trim makes the whole thing look very sophisticated indeed.

Of course, however, the moment you touch the leather you will find out it is synthetic, and that is how this bag goes. Up close, it isn’t anywhere near as luxurious. The only person this really effects is you though, as observers will just see the classy looks!

Although a handle would be a nice addition, the Mia clutch is an affordable straw creation with a cute bow!

It is nice to see Foley + Corinna move away from its signature handles into something a little braver. The gorgeous gold mesh body of this wrapped tote really lets the label stand out from the crowd.

Glitz and glamor isn’t normally the territory of this luxury brand. It tends to be more about investment pieces than flashy handbags. However, I think it does well treading the line between gorgeous rich gold, and tacky gold, hitting the mark thanks to the association with that supple luxurious leather. Also, the sheer expanse of chain-link means that, believe it or not, it looks classier. After all, it is so rare to get something like this liberally swathed over a bag, and the effect is one of easy glamor.

In addition to the cool metal, we have the twisted leather straps. Despite putting me in mind of a whip (especially with those tassels!), this is the sort of detail that will help people justify the $325 price tag.

All in all this golden cross-body is a glittery creation perfect for winter, and oozing with evening sparkle.

There was a time where it seemed handbags were getting bigger and bigger, to the point where they threatened to dwarf us all. Now it seems the pendulum has shifted, and I’m enjoying the more compact charms of bags like this McLane Mini from Tory Burch.

This is a really elegant bag. It’s simply shaped, but given some added sophistication with the croc embossing of its suede finish. This embellishment is never meant to masquerade as real crocodile; the fuzzy material sees to that. But it does bring some personality to this classic design.

I love this sophisticated gray shade, but it’s also available in black or pinecone brown. None of the tones are very revolutionary, but that only makes them easier to incorporate into your wardrobe. At $350, we really need that versatility to justify spending so much on such a small bag.

It’s not a very large bag, but Tory Burch does her best to make it a practical one. I expected a simple lined compartment, perhaps with an open pouch thrown in, so I was surprised to see two secure zippered pockets instead. These pouches are very user-friendly and a real luxury for a purse of this size.

It’ll never make an everyday purse, but I’d love to carry this McLane bag on special occasions!

Jennifer Lopez and her two-year-old twins Max and Emme will be the faces of Gucci’s new children’s line. We scoffed about this luxury kidswear range when it was announced, but the Lopez-Antony clan seems like just the kind of folks who’d indulge in this kind of fashion collection.

Famous fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott snapped the gorgeous family frolicking on a Malibu Beach wearing Gucci clothes and accessories for the advertisement. I can’t imagine dressing my kids in a luxury line for such a mundane occasion, but these advertisements are sure to be adorable.

While the Gucci collection may be a bit frivolous, there is a serious side to things. In addition to its already announced million dollar donation to long-term charity partner UNICEF, Gucci will help out The Maribel Foundation founded by Lopez and her sister Lynda. This charity provides health care to women and children around the world who can’t afford it.

At least J-Lo has managed to wrangle some charity money out of Gucci in exchange for her services!

Tommy Hilfiger delivers relaxed style in a pretty plaid package with this Mission Madras Tote.

Madras material always makes me think of picnic lunches and days spent with family. There’s something so easy and whimsical about the rainbow blend of pink, orange, yellow, blue, and green. That mix isn’t meant for sophisticated lunch dates, but it’s great for adding some color to a trip to the beach or the park.

The styling isn’t luxurious, but the design is inspired. This tote is smaller than many Tommy Hilfiger bags, but it doesn’t feel like you’re skimping. There are slip pockets on the front and bag, snap pockets on each end, and that’s all before we even get inside. That’s where you’ll find a zippered pocket and two open slips embedded in the navy lining. If you need more than that to stay organized, I’d say that you might be beyond help!

It might not suit every occasion, but at $59 that matters not. If you enjoy the great outdoors and the simple pleasures in life, this casual tote bag could be your ideal companion.
