Anya Hindmarch’s fall season has been very impressive. It’s been full of low-key, but striking accessories that will easily become wardrobe staples. This snakeskin version of her Marano clutch is another fabulous addition.

The classic Marano shape is well-suited to this exotic skin. Its curvy edges accentuate the natural geometric pattern of the snakeskin. The rich black color makes this a sophisticated and versatile addition to any evening ensemble. The really great thing about a clutch like this is that it can go from red carpet glamour to street chic with a simple change of shoes.

The skin has been arranged in patchwork-like strips. It runs horizontally on the sides and vertically in the center. This adds an extra layer of texture to the bag, and keeps the eye drawn towards the center. It’s also topped with a beautifully simple rectangular clasp.

Slouch and pizazz is the name of the game with this Kooba Monroe tote.

Luxurious goods don’t have to be about rigid lines and sharp stylish angles. As we can see on this leather hobo, beautiful soft leathers can in fact be shown off to their best advantage through the use of slouching folds and ripples. I  can understand why so many people want a dramatic structure, but spend a minute getting to know this purse and I doubt you will find it refined.

Of course, no matter how refined, $565 is a lot of money. Especially when what you have at the end is just a baggy handbag! The little luxury touches such as the gorgeous lining and little monogrammed logo take it a step in the right direction, but I can understand why people would buy one of the cheaper alternatives.

This is a subtly sophisticated tote, but I think many people simply won’t get it.

Plaits are big in the accessories market this winter, as they seem to be popping up all over the place. They add a simple glamour without having to over-embellish.

This Treesje clutch uses the plait decoration in quite an unusual way. The coordinating leather loops around the curved handbag, and actually has a strange belting effect. Whilst without this detail the purse could look a little like a school pencil case, the braid transforms it into something that is undoubtedly fashion oriented.

Although the decoration makes it work, I am still not personally convinced by the shape. It is just a little peculiar, although I am happy to admit that there is a decent amount of room inside thanks to the wider base and crafty curves.

With a caramel brown exterior, this Slate purse is bound to have fans and enemies. Which are you?

Tignanello isn’t very fashion forward, but if you’re looking for classic looks and traditional styling there are few brands in this price bracket that do it better.

I can imagine toting this Polished Pockets satchel to the office, filled to the brim with important files and documents. It’s just got that vibe that assures you it means business. Without frills to attract us, the soft leather does the talking. The shades of that skin aren’t very interesting, but in conservative tones they should easily work with your office wardrobe.

With such a conservative design, I’m glad Tignanello has given this bag everything I want to see in an office purse. Those deep exterior pockets are complemented by a generously sized interior. It has another pair of open pockets for essential tech items and a zippered pocket for valuables. Such a big bag is bound to get heavy once it’s loaded up, so the addition of a longer shoulder strap is another welcome touch.

At $149, this is the kind of office bag that even interns can afford.

It’s not a disease that often makes the headlines, so it’s great to see the Hung on U gals doing their bit to find a cure.

There’s certainly something regal about this elegant Elizabeth clutch from Carlo Fellini.

The soft satin body is swept up into a rhinestone flower, which adds just the right amount of bling to the purse. The white and golden petal stones are a tad ostentatious, but that only adds to the clutch’s royal feel. I also think they’re tempered somewhat by the gentle pleated material and the classic kiss-lock clasp. These accents are traditional so they never fight the flower for attention.

The downside of this purse is as we’d expect; it’s a delicate creature which doesn’t afford us a lot of storage space. The slide pocket might handle receipts, but it’s really not the most practical of interior additions. I’m much more enthusiastic about the short chain, which can take the Elizabeth from clutch to wristlet when it’s pulled out.

At $130 this purse isn’t cheap, but it’s a lot more affordable than any real royal accessory!

There’s something just a little bit fishy about the purses from Unnur, an Icelandic label which crafts its handbags from “sea leather.”

Designer Unnur Fridriksdottir uses the skins of farm-grown Icelandic salmon and African perch to create her modern purses. While the approach might not please animal lovers, as the fish are farm grown the business is completely sustainable.

You needn’t worry about the purses being on the nose either. They smell just like regular leather, and only looks better with age. I’m particularly taken with the elegant stripes and structured trapezoidal shape of this Katrin bag. Which one is your favourite?

Unnur isn’t merely the name of brand and designer; it’s also Icelandic for “the waves of the ocean.” Considering the source of these handbags, the name is pretty appropriate don’t you think?

This Kathy Van Zeeland handbag doesn’t cost a billion bucks, and it won’t really make you look a billion bucks either. But this surprisingly conservative handbag from Kathy Van Zeeland is one of the designer’s better purses.

With all those buckled tabs and rows of studs, we can’t really call the design minimalist. But when compared with the flamboyant designs Kathy Van Zeeland typically produces, this one’s pretty sedate. The color palette is subdued, and there’s only one hue on each purse. For KVZ, that’s downright tame.

While the exterior is more basic than we’d expect, no effort has been spared inside. There’s a zippered central compartment to make the generous space more user friendly, and zip and slip pockets for holding gadgets and other small valuables.

This purse could be the one Kathy Van Zeeland fans look to when they need to play it safe, or the shopper that wins over her naysayers. Either way at $99 I think Kathy Van Zeeland has done enough to make us all happy!

Despite its simplicity, this tote is one of the most eye-catching I’ve seen this season. Alaia has managed to balance the design beautifully and its attention to the smallest details, like the black edging on the foldover flaps, makes the bag seem almost like a work of art, instead of just a handbag.

Judith Leiber is making a play for the wedding market with the launch of her new collection of bridal bags.

“Judith Leiber Weddings is the perfect way to introduce young women to our brand,” explained Judith Leiber’s brand president, Mary Gleason. “Every bride remembers her wedding dress, shows and bag, and we wanted to be a part of that.“

We can expect these purses to showcase the sense of whimsy that Leiber designs are famous for. Look out for minaudieres in the shape of a flower bouquet and three-tiered wedding cake “iced” with crystals and pearls.

But Judith Leiber hasn’t forgotten more traditional brides. Clutches adorned with rosettes or silk taffeta are somewhat tamer options for that special day.

The Judith Leiber Wedding clutches start from an almost reasonable $995, but if you want the most extravagant models you’ll need to pay $7000 for the privilege. That’s more than many wedding dresses cost but if you’re going big, why not?
